What Fixed My Silent Reflux issue

for context i had reflux issues for 2 years. wake up, swollen feeling throat, feeling of sobering in my throat, swallowing all the time, jaw was even sore. as the day would go on, my throat would feel worse and worse. pretty much 24/7 discomfort.

i eventually went to ENT, they did a scope, told me i had silent reflux. i began taking pepcid twice daily for about 2 years. eventually even with the meds my throat would still flare up. i went back, they said they needed to put me under, do a full scope. they also put me on nexium, which was horrible. back to pepcid.

ultimately i wanted a real fix, not just taking pills every day to manage. i did a deep dive on reddit, found some obscure post from years ago where some guy with like 2 up likes said it can be fixed with HCL + Pepsincals and mastic gum.

i took the advice from the internet, stopped pepcid that day. went to vitamin shop, got HCL + Pepsin caps and mastic gum caps. like 15$. took 1 with small meals, 2 with larger meals. took mastic gum 2x a day. my issues stopped within 48 hours. per the guys post, once i began feeling actual heart burn when taking HCL and eating, i stopped taking them altogether. i have had zero issues since, i still have over half the bottle of HCL pepsin caps.

the mental struggle of feeling ill every day, wondering if i had cancer, as well as physically dealing with pain all day was terrible. i know everyone is different, this likely won’t work for everyone, but it cured me and i wanted to share. any questions feel free to message! i am not a doctor, just sharing my genuine experience since i rarely see anyone suggest hcl.

Does this sound like LPR

help I am suffering w either post nasal drip or foamy saliva mucus pooling into the throat or getting stuck so high up that I am gagging and it is constant :( it used to be more tolerable where it’d be lower in the throat but now it’s stuck so high up in gagging or constantly spitting or swallowing this nasty tasting saliva

Weaning baby of omeprazole

My baby is 8 months old and we’ve been tapering her off omeprazole. Last week she was down to 0.5 mL, and since then we’ve stopped it completely.

Since stopping, she’s been vomiting small amounts of watery, acid-like spit-up again. She is still having her milk, although feeding has never been great, and her bottle aversion seems to have worsened again since stopping the medication.

Has anyone experienced rebound reflux after stopping omeprazole? Did you restart the last dose (0.5 mL) and taper more slowly, or just wait it out for a week or two to see if it settles?

Would really appreciate hearing others’ experiences.

Generally okay until I eat..

I was diagnosed with LPR a couple of weeks ago. Presented with globus. My symptoms at this point fluctuate in type and severity…globus, sore throat with ear tingling, dry throat, and always redness in my throat. It just looks angry. I’m now taking famotidine twice a day and drinking and spraying my throat with alkaline water. I don’t think the famotidine is doing much but the alkaline water is helping tremendously. I’m starting the Acid Watchers Diet and am eliminating many foods from my diet at this time. I’ve noticed though many times when I start to eat my symptoms are minimal. Then….I eat. For about 10 minutes after I eat, I seem to have a lot of mucus in my throat and my throat starts to feel raw again for a few minutes to an hour…as long as I’m drinking alkaline water to pacify it.

I have ordered the British Gaviscon and zinc carnosine, which should arrive tomorrow, and I’ve started taking L-glutamine.

My questions…how do you know if you’re continuing to reflux or if the symptoms are due to damage from the original episode? Has anyone been relatively okay until eating (even eating an alkaline meal)?

Is this possibly from reflux?

I take ridiculously good care of my teeth, floss twice a day, use a fluoride mouthwash as well as listerine , fluoride toothpaste, as well as oil pull and xylitol gum. I have some erosion on my teeth and I do not often drink soda, or have vinegar. I do eat fruit but have really cut down since these popped up but they are getting worse. I’m so at loss. I think it may be acid reflux I do experience a bit of it especially during pregnancy. I am only 26 and these are the state of my teeth. Could it be cause by acid reflux? Would it be wise to get oral PH test strips to test?

My daughter has been having issues ever since she was 2 weeks old. She is never comfortable. Have been on 4 different formulas now. First enfamil infant, then gentle ease, then nutramagin and now neocate. She gets worse and worse each day. She won’t lay on my chest, she won’t go over my shoulder. The only way she lets me hold her is standing up in a sitting position. After awhile she gets sick of that and because inconsolable and I can’t get her comfortable at all. She has a referral to a GI tomorrow and I don’t know what’s wrong with to expect. Pediatrician thinks it’s silent reflux but this has gotten bad and i hate seeing my baby in pain. I need to know what’s wrong with her. I need to be able to bond with my baby. She’s on day 3 on pepsid and still no results. Lord help me.
