(Homemade) Carbonara

Tried making this after seeing the post here. Not bad for a first try if i say so myself.

No Guanciale so used bacon. 2 yolks and approx 150g mix of parmeggiano reggiano and a “traditional cheese” bag from NTUC. No cream used.

Recipe

Bacon ( I used about 100g streaky bacon ) cut into rough chunks
Black pepper ( to your liking )
2 egg yolks
Parmeggiano Reggiano and another cheese of choice , total 150-160g

Boil pasta till 1 min before al dente

Render fat off bacon until nice and crisp. Remove bacon and keep the oil in the pan

Whisk together yolks and cheese to form a paste. Add black pepper to paste

When pasta is done, add into pan with bacon grease. Heat should be as low as possible or off.

Add egg&cheese paste. Toss until sauce is emulsified. Add pasta water if too dry.

Serve and top with crispy bacon and more black pepper

Homemade cheeseburger

I guess home assembled would be more accurate. Wagyu beef burgers seasoned with onion and garlic powders, paprika, blanketed with cheddar cheese and slices of white peach laying on a bed of lettuce. Smothered in aioli and sandwiched between toasted Little Farm’s sourdough buns.

Quite disappointed that the peaches didn’t lend any texture or flavour to the burger but still a good burger nonetheless. Cost to make: between S$18-20. Not cheap but premium ingredients.

Bread and pastas

Currently obsessed with the new bakery in suntec, Noci bakehouse. And this gem at jalan besar called Moonchild. Nothing there is a fail 🥹. I have also tried some of the best breads at Standard Bread sentosa and pastries perfect for breakfast at Asylum coffee, jalan besar :)

Kueh Salat Recommendations

Hello! My husband loves eating kueh salat and I’m looking to buy a cake-sized kueh salat for him. Does anyone have recommendations of yummy kueh salat stores / bakeries that sell large portions of kueh salat?

Thank you!
