open.spotify.comWhat explanation of “breath support” made it finally make sense to you?
For me it was when a teacher told me to hold my breath without closing my throat. He said, that feeling, holding the air inside of you without engaging your throat muscles, that’s 90% of breath support.
When singing, your throat needs to be able to do some very intricate stuff with some pretty delicate muscles. So if at the same time you’re tasking your throat muscles with holding back a wall of air from below, there’s no way you can properly (or healthily anyway) use those intricate muscles for singing.
Breath support is nothing more than outsourcing the “holding back” of the breath to your diaphragm, so you free up your throat/laryngeal musculature to do precisely calculated things.
If your lyrics feel mundane?

Hello, I am dark country folk singer-songwriter / producer Homer Doak, and wanted to share my recent release on Bandcamp, "Mule", because hard mustered tunes die in darkness, and I appreciate you very much if you happen to hear it.
I use a field recorder (Zoom H6) run through an old reverb tank and decent Focusrite preamp. I play acoustic fingerstyle and do the vocals and guitar in a single take, then add a little frills here and there in Reaper. I love to record.
The main tracks on the album to highlight are "Hookworm" (Song about my grandpa life who lived through depression and rural poverty, WWII, etc.), "Fail Asleep" (Inspired by a monologue from Joel in The Last Of Us), and "Wondering If" (Just about wondering what could have been).
Thank you and hope to hear from you, any feedback, complaints, compliments.
Thank You For Everything

Im not a singer…
I’m at a low point in my life and this song is an expression of what I’m feeling. I can’t sing, so I’m putting it out in the universe; perhaps somebody can give life to this song and help me release my pain.
Remake Me
I’m sitting here and the clock strikes four
I don’t know if I can do this anymore
From daddy’s girl to the devils who’re
I don’t even know who I am anymore
Remake me Lord
Wash me clean and set me free
This ain’t the woman I used to be
Remake me
Its dark outside and I can’t see
Remake me Lord
Remake me
I don’t want to be flesh and blood anymore
My wounds are deep and the blood just pours
Remake me
Wash me clean and set me free
This ain’t who I want my little girl to be
I’m on my knees, asking you please
Remake me
I must accept the consequence of choice
When I no longer hear your voice
Oh Lord remake me
If it’s not time to take me lord
Remake me
Cause I don’t want this pain anymore
Remake me
Independent dark folk artist from Brazil looking for honest feedback
Hi everyone,
I'm an independent artist from Brazil making dark folk / alternative country music.
I recently released a song called I Embrace My Pain.
It’s rooted in melancholy, pain, and survival.
I’d genuinely love honest feedback from people who enjoy this kind of music.
If sharing a link is okay here, I’d be happy to post it.
Thanks.
no label, no budget, just the drive to create something different
