Zanclean Flood - reworked version

Previously posted a single track version but I thought I'd try getting it a bit closer to how I actually envisage it. Apologies for the guitar solo if you make it to the half way point - you'll see I'm not a lead guitarist...

Introducing my final solo album (for fans of Motion City Soundtrack, Relient K, Mayday Parade, Weezer)

So I've finally released my very final solo album under the name Colourful Sevens.

Because it's my last album, I've gone all out on the concept, performances, production, etc. Entirely self-funded. Everything you hear was either performed, played, or recorded by myself, my collaborator, and my friends.

It's a 60-minute pop punk and power pop-inspired rock opera called Dream Machine and a Happy End: Monument to a Computer Keyboard. I've worked on it for six years, maybe more. It's about lots of things, but it all ties back to social media and smartphone addiction.

It's not all pop punk, but pop punk is definitely a key influence on quite a lot of the songs, and acts like Motion City Soundtrack, Relient K, and Mayday Parade were in my ears constantly while I was writing. The rock opera concept was inspired by American Idiot and The Black Parade.

The album takes you through the story of our lonely protagonist, who learns to use the internet, falls in and out of love, becomes addicted to social media, and is eventually forced to analyse his shortcomings in a bid to recover and re-build his life away from computers and smartphones.

"Upside Down(Slower)"

I posted a song last night and a few commentors suggested i would be well suited for poppunk and emo music, so, i decided to post a song i wrote about a month ago that's more that direction. Unfortunately, my cat keeps messing with my amp and i can't even get my chord to connect to it. Had to settle for an acoustic, less punk, more singer songwriter feel.

Skin to Skin (beat)

Made this classical cinematic dance track. I plan on adding words and vocals but coming up with a catchy melody is so hard for me.

"Scars Underneath" (first draft)

This a song about unseen battles raging deep within, about finding strength in vulnerability, and about coming out the other side stronger, wiser, happy, healthy, healing and with a deep appreciation for life.

During the bridge, the line is supposed to be "To the girl at 16 who liked to dance with DRAGONFLIES", not fireflies #oops. I didn't realize it until after I finished making the lyric video. I made a couple other little mistakes while singing/playing, but instead of stopping and re-doing it, I just kept going as if I was performing live. I have a bad habit of immediately stopping as soon as I catch myself making a mistake, and while that's fine for a recording session, it isn't good for that to be my default. There are no re-takes in a live performance, and in many cases, nobody will even realize you made a mistake if you just keep going. I just realized there is a good metaphor for life in there...Anyway, this is just the first draft so I def will go back in and fix those mistakes at some point :)

https://youtube.com/@matabeqiyaselassie?si=03WmKj-bOU3N6epQ

Hey everyone, up above is a link to my YouTube channel. I wanted to share my first two songs ever that I finally had the courage to record. These are still somewhat rough drafts but I’m working on fixing them up a bit here and there, and also a third song as we speak. Stay tuned for third song and in the meantime enjoy these and lmk what you all think. These songs truly mean a lot to me and I make music not only cus I love it, but cus I truly have a message to be heard. What better way to spread that message other than music. I Thank you and much love

Discord Server

Hello Hello ,,
I made a server a while back filled with everyone who’ve i’ve met that does music whether it’s producing, engineering, or being an artist. I wanted to make a safe space for artists to collab and chat with other individuals who are pursuing what they like the most, music. The skill levels are everywhere so don’t be shy. Artists are welcome! I also hope to find people to cook up some banger songs with so hit me up! I am a songwriter and I mainly do r&b but I am willing to experiment!

London based band looking for singer!

Hi there guys!

We’re currently a three-piece psychedelic/blues rock band with a sound influenced by artists like Jimi Hendrix, Queens of the Stone Age, The Velvet Underground, and Led Zeppelin, with subtle Afrobeat and funk undertones.

We’re primarily looking for a lead vocalist who can match our bold, high-energy style—someone in the vein of Cameron Winter or Ozzy Osbourne.

We’re also open to bringing on a rhythm guitarist to help fill out our sound and give the lead guitarist more creative freedom. If you can play and sing, that’s a huge bonus.

Cheers.

L4L - Gravity of You [Accoustic RNB]

Just dropped a new EP and I'm so stoked for you all to hear it! It's inspired by those chill, acoustic afternoons spent with someone special, just vibing. Think cozy blankets and good company, totally relaxed. Hope it brings those warm, fuzzy feelings to your day too.

Let me know what you think! #NewMusic #AcousticVibes #ChillOut

For the listener that's feeling reminiscent

I (Thornback) recently released my song 'Blur', maybe you'll get something out of it: https://open.spotify.com/track/0UJGTmmwHpfd7s8Eysie54?si=0ad9b28ae3c14bc5

The song reflects on past relationships and my tendency to overthink. I'm curious to know whether you think the conclusion in the chorus is bleak. For me, it's a small comfort knowing that everything will one day become nothing as it helps me to focus on what actually matters to me.
