Nobody stops for walkers at VA crosswalk on 22nd st. in Sioux Falls, no one is safe especially old people and children

Old people, dog walkers, children, veterans are all vehicle targets on 22nd st. Dont be mad because I am giving you the one finger salute, as you fly by doing 35, in a 20 zone, you aren’t stopping at a legal crosswalk. if i was a cop your butt would be in jail for sure. why should i fear for my life simply trying to cross the street, what the hell is wrong with you people. citizens can’t even cross the safely, i fear for my childs safetly crossing the same crosswalk. #siouxfalls #crazydrivers #suicialdrivers #norespect #psychodrivers #childkillers

Some pretty interesting election displays popping up

I'll keep the location to myself because I don't want to bring drama to it. But if you know you know it's in town.

What in the…… I ask myself why.

I’ve seen a lot- including parking in fire lanes and everything else- but I just have to ask every time… why?! 🙄 For context, this is parking of our apartments owns by Loyd Properties.

Looking for rock shops or someplace that has a geology museum

I know, probably the wrong end of the state for this but I'm thinking about taking some out of town friends to a museum that has some interesting rock/geology displays and maybe a gift shop, if I can find one here. Their kid is showing some interest in rocks so I thought it would be cool to show them some different things.

Looking more from a geology standpoint, not crystals/charms.

Sioux Falls Area Candidates on Data Centers

South Dakota for Data Center Transparency (Formerly Sioux Falls for Data Center Transparency) has updated their webpage southdakotadatacenter.org to show not only how legislators recently voted on 50 year tax breaks for data centers and other Data Center related legislation, but now have released local city, county, and state race candidate information as well.

They asked two questions to all candidates:

1) What are the concerns citizens have about Hyperscale Data Centers?

2) How would you address those concerns?

Please take a look at the website and let them know if you have background information on any of these candidates and their views on data centers. They are still accepting responses from candidates so if you know someone who hasn't yet responded, encourage them to fill out the candidate questionnaire.

Take a look at the local Sioux Falls Races!

If you would like to stay updated on Data Center Related issues in Sioux Falls or Volunteer, they are encouraging people to fill out their volunteer form to continue to push for Transparency (and safety) in Sioux Falls regarding the Gemini Project.

model rocket or amateur rocketry in the area?

Hi everybody

been really getting back into space stuff since the Artemis launch and I moved to the area from one that wasn't ideal for the hobby, so does anyone know if there are any model rocket clubs or amateur rocketry groups, maybe tied to one of the local colleges that I would be able to get information about.

thanks

Anyone know what this is and what company?

We have this in the corner of our yard and we are on a corner lot. I assume that since pur intersection floods that it lifted this stuff out yesterday. The City of Sioux Falls said it is not theirs and Midco doesnt think its theirs, either.

Edit: Thank you all for the responses. I called Bluepeak and told them it was uncovered yesterday and it is still sitting exactly as is.

If it isn't fixed tomorrow I am gonna throw it back in the hole and put the lid on.

Off road bike trails

I am looking for suggestions for some off road bike trails within an hour of Sioux Falls. Wouldn't mind doing a weekend camp to hit a few. I am very new to off road riding and just getting back into cycling in general. I bought an e-bike a couple months ago and got hooked on riding again and just got a new gravel bike. I am 36 and over weight so trails that won't kill me are preferred but hey if it's worth the ride throw it out. I know about all the FAST ones and plan to check those out but I know I will stay much more motivated to check stuff off a longer list. My only friends that ride are my 11 and 13 year old sons so if you have any suggestions for beginner friendly rides off or on rode I would appreciate those as well. Thank you!!

Software Engineering?

Has anyone here recently had any experience with finding a job or looking for a software engineering job in the city? Or even if you currently are employed what that process looked like for you?

I know it's a terrible job market for this industry right now but I'm curious about how hard it might be to find a junior position with a comp sci degree and 4+ years of experience. I'm moving here next year and might have to leave the company I've been interning for since 2022, I graduate with my comp sci degree from CSU next year and am just really interested in getting any information about this career specifically in this city as I can.

Any information or leads to other communities/groups for connections is greatly appreciated!

Club Social 605 Question

Hi! I’m a woman in my 20s and I’ve just moved to Sioux Falls. I’m looking to make some friends here. I’ve heard a lot about Club Social 605. For anyone who’s attended social gatherings hosted by this club: how was your experience, especially during the first time attending an event? I know almost no one in this city, and I’m not sure what to expect if I attend an event hosted by them for the very first time. There’s an event on Saturday, but I’m a bit nervous to go. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks :)

Anyone missing black cat near east side 41st?

For the past couple of weeks, I’ve been noticing a shy black cat near my apartment building almost every day. It doesn’t appear to have a collar and seems to stay around a pipe/drain area near a small pond. After the recent heavy rain, I started worrying that its shelter may be getting flooded or unsafe.
The cat keeps its distance and looks very cautious, so I’m not sure if it’s a stray, feral, or someone’s outdoor cat. I’m also not very familiar with caring for cats, but I’d like to help if possible. Should I leave out some food or water for it? If yes, what kind of food would be safe?
I’m also curious how local humane societies usually handle stray cats. Do they typically help and protect them, or is there any risk they may put them down?
I’ve attached a blurry photo taken from my balcony at about 6x zoom, in case anyone recognizes the cat or has advice on what the best thing to do would be.
I just want to make sure the little one is safe and okay.

Missing cat southwest side

Edit: he was home the whole time! Thanks to everyone who upvoted.

Hello! My family lives a block away from Bakker Park and one of our cats is missing. He is all black with green/blue eyes. Maybe around 6 pounds, 3 years old. His name is Steven but we also call him Steve or Stevie. He has a very sad sounding meow but do NOT let him fool you, it is not the cry of a sad cat. He's a feisty one. If you see him please send a DM, we haven't seen him since before lunch today and are missing him terribly.
