Who makes the best black coffee in Sioux Falls?

I say "black" coffee, because I mean actual, plain coffee, not a coffee-based drink.

No arguments based on "buy local" or cafe ambiance or anything (i.e. -- if you like Starbucks, that's fine). Base your vote on just the coffee.

Is there any nutritional difference between "instant" rice and the more traditional, slow-cooked rice?

Question in title.

Does anyone know why Natural Grocers is open until exactly 8:36 p.m.?

I feel like there has to be a story here.

Went to a cooking class/demo at Plum's Cooking Company last night

It was really fun. Not so much a "class" -- more of a "demonstration."

The chef is from South Dakota, but went on to be a chef at The French Laundry. The theme was "gluten-free Italian." She had the recipe printed for everyone, and she cooked dinner and narrated what she was doing while we all watched (there were about 20 of us). Then she served it to us (over three courses), and it was fantastic.

She was very funny, and told a lot of stories about her experiences in culinary school, working for a high-end restaurant (TFL has three-stars), and competing as a chef around the world.

Highly recommended.

(Note: I have no connection to Plum's. I just genuinely thought it was fun experience.)

Using HTMX to embed "sandboxed" mini-applications in intranets

I wrote this for the Staffbase dev blog. In the second half of the article, I talk about some work I did to use HTMX to embed "sandboxed" applications inside intranet content. To do this, I have some code that "neuters" HTML being returned from HTMX to prevent it -- HTML or script -- from "leaking" outside the original container.

I show an example of a small app to track the International Space Stations and ask an AI chatbot some questions about it.

You might find it interesting. I think it's a neat use of HTMX.

Free book online: "Real World Content Modeling: A Field Guide to CMS Features and Architecture"

The entire text of my 2019 book on content modeling is available for free at my website.

(Disclaimer: I wrote this, so it's a self-promotional link. I am also the mod of this subreddit. But I defend this posting by noting that there is no business model behind my website -- I have no advertising, and I sell no services -- so I gain absolutely nothing from having someone consume my content. I just think it's good, relevant content.)

Free book online: "Web Content Management: Systems, Features, and Best Practices"

I'm not sure if I mentioned this before, but the entire text of my 2016 O'Reilly book is available for free at my website. It's a little old now, but there's probably still some valuable stuff in there.

The Truth About CMS Form Builders

What are the best options for increasing cargo space?

I need more storage for long trips. Four people mean we can't put the back seat down, and there's just not enough room back there to store all our stuff.

We have a 2021, no activity mount (it could be added, of course), with the big moonroof thing with no roof rails.

What are the best options here to increase storage space?

Kam Patterson didn't get much screen time this year. Is there a prior cast member that had a similarly slow freshman season but then went on to a long, productive tenure?

To put it more bluntly: if your freshman season is a nosedive, can you pull out of it?

How do I responsibly get rid of large amounts of cardboard and styrofoam?

My son is furnishing his house from a distance, which means a lot of new furniture has been shipped in. This has resulted in massive amounts of cardboard and styrofoam.

I don't love this, from an ecological perspective, clearly. So, what's the most responsible way to get rid of all the cardboard? There's just mountains of it in the garage.

And what about the styrofoam? What can I do to make this less of a ecological disaster?
