Why does my 2010 I4 sound like a tractor?

2010 Venza 2.7L I4 AWD. The video is a couple months old but it still makes this noise. The best way I can describe the sound is a tractor-like rattle, kind of a repetitive, clattery noise. It is most noticeable at idle, and doesn't really seem to get worse with acceleration. I just barely changed the oil and added some stop leak stabilizer as well. And it still makes this noise. It has been doing it for at least a year, maybe two. There are no warning lights or anything, and all systems work as they should. I'm just wondering if I need to be concerned, or if it's old engine stuff. The car is just about to roll over 270k miles so I don't really think it's worth obsessing over and throwing tons of money at. But if I can save myself a big problem in the future by replacing something now, I'd much rather do that.

I'm mainly thinking it's either the valve train or maybe the AC pulley. If the AC pulley goes bad, could it affect the rest of the serpentine belt or would the ac just stop working?

Looking for advice from everyone if this deal is worth taking a shot at to begin worth for a 2024 Venza Limited.

Hello everyone. Hoping to get some advice on the below.

Is a 2024 Venza Limited w/ approximately 31K miles for around $40,000 worthwhile?

Please note, I've yet to negotiate w/ the dealer but wanted to reach out to see if this was worth the time and possible hassle to begin with.

Thanks in advance!

Venza start and open issues

My mom's car got no key and needs push to start. Sometimes the car won't open until multiple tries and sometimes it won't start until multiple tries. Sometimes driving and it says key not detected. Battery has been replaced multiple times. Went to the Toyota dealership they ran the scan and found no issues. No one can figure out what's wrong.

Transmission...To flush or not to flush. That is the question...

My maintenance shop wants to FLUSH my transmission. I told them under NO circumstances are they to FLUSH the system. I would be fine with a simple fluid replacement, i.e., drain existing fluid and replace it with new.

  • 2011 Toyota Venza
  • 3.5 L 2GR-FE V-6 engine
  • 96,700 miles

I have read and heard that if you've never had transmission maintenance done and it becomes "high mileage", it is STRONGLY advised to NOT flush the transmission; just perform a fluid replacement.

What say you, gurus of the transmission?

Thanks for any advice!!

*** UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE ***

After speaking with my best bro on this topic, the decision has been made..."If it ain't broke, don't fix it!".

Like others here, he's had vehicles that ran for 200- and 300,000+ miles without ever having touched the transmission. And I don't drive my Venza anywhere NEAR as hard as he's driven some of his trucks, i.e., towing stuff up and down hills.

I also own a 1997 Corolla DX with 201,000+ miles. I don't recall EVER doing anything to the transmission. And it's running like a champ!!!

Thanks for all the input and advice!! BLESSINGS!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

New 2023 Venza Owner! Need tips and accessories!

I just got a 2023 Venza Limited, 18k miles, with star gaze sunroof. I've been looking at these for a while and trying to find the right one for myself, and finally pulled the trigger!

What are everyone's favorite accessories/mods for these? And what are your top recommended settings/configurations to immediately adjust? There are so many options and hidden settings that I feel like it's going to take me forever to fully learn this car.

I've already learned the wireless phone charger is not great, so I do need to find a good magsafe phone mount that won't block vents or the screen. What else do y'all have for me?

New 2021 Venza Linited owner with questions.

We purchased our new Venza in May. So we've had it for a few months. We live in Southwest Florida and it's flatter than Kansas. I'm actually a bit disappointed that we're not getting better gas mileage here.

One thing we've noticed is that in the morning, when starting our first trip of the day, the car will use EV mode while we back out of the driveway but then it's hard to get it back into EV mode for any period of time. It goes immediately to the cold engine. Is this normal? Does anybody else have this scenario of no EV when starting the day?

Thank you! We appreciate our fellow Venza Reddit community.

BookPlayer iOS app

I use CarPlay in our 2024 Venza XLE Nightshade combined with the iOS app named BookPlayer. With this app, I can copy various non-music audio files into the app via iCloud. For me, this is a simple answer to address for example, the entire 380 mp3 library of a Patreon podcast I support.

Aside from podcasts, I have many audio files of vintage baseball radio recordings through archive.org I simply copy the downloaded files to an iCloud folder then direct BookPlayer to copy those files into a created folder inside of BookPlayer.

I am not associated in anyway with this app. I’m just sharing a tip for adding non-Spotify and/or non-Apple Podcast audio into your Venza CarPlay experience.

$4,906 extended warranty on a CPO Toyota — cancel it? And how do I make sure the refund actually hits my loan?

Bought a 2022 Toyota Venza Gold Certified yesterday, $30k, financed. Got a Fidelity “Platinum” service contract for $4,906 rolled into the loan.

The car already comes with the free Gold Certified warranty: 7yr/100k powertrain + 12mo/12k comprehensive, $0 deductible. The paid plan looks like it mostly overlaps that — comprehensive year 1, then powertrain-only after. It also excludes the hybrid battery and, per the contract, can’t transfer to another vehicle (only to a future buyer). I’ll likely trade it in around 5 years.

Finance manager is resisting the cancel — says the refund “only comes at the end of the loan,” and that “Gold Certified isn’t really a warranty.”

Questions:

1.Worth cancelling a $4,906 warranty on a CPO Toyota that already has 7yr/100k powertrain, if I’ll trade in \~5 years?
2. How do I cancel and make sure the refund goes to my lienholder / reduces principal— not lost or delayed?
3.Is “you won’t see it till the end of the loan” accurate, or just spin for it going to principal?

Dated yesterday so I think I’m in the full-refund window. Honest takes welcome, especially F&I folks.
