Looking for Opinions?

So I’m making a skate brand and I want to go with a vintage photography angle. I just want something that looks amazing.

Which griptape design should i pick?

I cut some papers to test different spots for The design on My old deck. I originally thought The horizontal line would look good, But having only The diamond lowkey looks good too (with The line it kinda looks like a present/gift). I also can't decide on how high i want The design to be.

Do you Have any insights on this?

Skate 4 is promising, but it still lacks the Skate 3 feel and feedback

The game already has a really solid base. The visuals are very good, the city feels alive, and the customization for both the skater and the board is excellent. The online aspect also works well and makes the experience enjoyable overall.

That said, I feel like some of the core “feel” that made Skate 3 so memorable is still missing. The main thing for me is the physical feedback while skating. In Skate 3, the vibration and impact feedback made a big difference. You could really feel landings, grinds, and even small contacts with the ground. Right now, that connection between the board and the player feels much weaker.

Another thing is the crash system. Skate 3 had something like the Hall of Meat which made falls and collisions more fun and memorable. It wasn’t just about failing a trick, it was part of the gameplay and had its own identity. Even a simplified version of that system in the new game would add a lot of personality.

I also miss some of the environmental interactions, like being able to grab onto moving vehicles, which created a lot of dynamic and fun moments in Skate 3.

Overall, I think the game is on a very good path, but improving the physical feedback and bringing back some of those classic systems would really strengthen the identity of the game and make it feel more complete.

An odd question: what's your opinion on the'Onewheel'?

I bought a onewheel but feel kinda dorky riding in the streets. I normally skate, so I wouldn't mind the harsh criticism.

Hung my collection of decks today

My collection of decks I’ve accumulated over the years. I like to get decks that I really wanted as a kid but couldn’t afford to get back then.

Thrifted an old board - any info about it?

Hi,
I Thrifted it at goodwill for 13 bucks, couldn’t find too much about it but the board itself is super cool, is wooden and painted white. Grip has a cool wave design, and overall is super cool. Can anyone tell me more about it, maybe who designed it or what its worth? Definitely keeping it for my collection

Building It Brick by Brick: Mike’s DIY Skatepark in Sheffield, UK

After years of skating together in Shanghai, Mike (his insta) moved back to Sheffield and began putting together a DIY skate spot largely on his own terms.

Built with scavenged bricks, backfill, and a stubborn amount of self-direction, the project is gradually becoming a meeting point for skaters from around the city and beyond.

What has the process of building these obstacles been like? Is it mostly solo, or has the local community been pitching in?

Mike:
so im gunna say conseratively that im responsible for 95% of the build which includes finding the backfill & bricks and transporting them to the spot. its pretty hard to get people to help but i kinda bring it on myself by not consulting anyone about the design or accommodating anyone’s schedule so i guess thats the price for complete creative control.

Building with bricks is the only way i could’ve achieved as much as i have by myself. Concreting is too full on for one person to make big obstacles without a cement mixer

So the materials are mostly found out in the wild rather than bought? Old construction sites, abandoned lots, that sort of thing?

Mike:
ye in my area theres a fair few wastelands and in particular theres one less than a five minute drive away where used to be a brick warehouse that they demolished and left the bricks in big piles or they just knocked in the second story and left the pile of bricks where they fell and walked away. that is where the old diy was and where this all started. if that site ever gets cleared up then ill have to change my approach massively.

so achieving as much as i have is a combination of having a car, having the cash to front the builds, living 5 mins from the spot, having basically unlimited bricks 5 mins from the spot, having a builders merchants 5 mins from the spot and the spot being by a river

What is the crew situation around the spot? Is there a regular group holding it down, or does it draw a more mixed bunch? And how do you deal with gatekeeping?

Mike:
quickly i gotta shout out @tasiek2 (insta) Tomasz who made the ledge happen. i helped him concrete the deck but he did everything else and it’s excellent.

there’s not really a crew because most skaters live on the other side of town or are too old to be hanging out endlessly. some days itll be dead other times not. one of the coolest things is that it brings people from elsewhere to the city and i get to meet people from different scenes that i wouldnt otherwise.

theres no gatekeeping other than not publicly posting the location basically. its not hard to ask through social media so better that it stays that way until its a officially recognised spot, which is only a dream at the moment

Is this something? Mike “McTwist” McGill Signed shirt

Bought at a garage sale a bit ago, thought this was just a sick shirt until I saw the autograph when I got home.

Whose signature can this be?

I recently bought this Baker board on Vinted (I am Italian), and I noticed an autograph or signature of someone on the back of the board.

I don't know whose it could be.

I've done some research online and it could be Zach Allen, one of the professional skaters, sponsored by Baker and many other brands, but I am not sure who it could be.

Can someone help me figure out who it is?

The board was purchased without trucks and wheels, only with the grip tape already attached, in excellent condition and practically like new.
