How do i choose a slackline
About a month ago ive started going to slackline meetups, and im starting to be able to walk abit. progress has been slow cause i only have about 15-30 minutes of access to slackline a week so i want to get my own slackline.
I did some searching and mostly just got conflicting messeges on what to buy.
I have a few good years of experience with acrobatics, so ive been really fascinated with tricklining and thought of getting a kit fit for it, so when i am ready for it i dont have to by a whole new kit. However, i noticed that ones labled "fit for tricklining" are definitelly more pricy then just a normal kit.
Would love to get some opinions if i should just invest in a trickline kit from the start, or wait untill im confident with slacklining then by another kit.
And either way, i would love to get some recomandations for spasiphic brands and products or even criterias listed in the description of the products that maybe good for what I'm looking for.

For slightly longer lines, the appropriate metaphor is that of a tree: the arms are the crown, the torso the trunk, and the feet the roots. The upper part seeks balance, the central part transmits it, and the lower part anchors and consolidates it in the ground. It is no coincidence that this posture bears a resemblance to the standing-pole positions of Qigong.
Julius Kugy, an alpinist of the early 1900, took particular pride in crossing the narrow, windswept ridge between the Ponze with a gait that was, in his words, "nobly upright." It is a fascinating image, but it speaks of possession and mastery, and here that approach does not work. Instead, we might speak of an "arboreally upright" gait: a way of walking that listens to the heart, the breath, the wind, and the ground. This is what allows one to move forward, constantly relying on the axis that connects the center of the Earth with an undefined point in the sky.
How to Start Without Bad Habits?
Soooo my neighbors recently got a 2” slack line that they’ve set up in their yard, low enough that if I stand in the middle, I’m 4” off the ground. It’s fun, but I _suck_ at staying on it. I can stand up for all of five or six seconds before I fall off, and this is with my arms out and my gaze up and forward. Walking is not happening at all.
What should I do to improve without building bad habits?
Some options I can imagine —
- Just keep falling off and getting back on (current approach)
- Use a secondary line
- Use a pole held vertically to push myself back up if I tilt too far to one side
- Wear no-lug shoes like Chucks or Vans
- Something else?
I worry that using a secondary line or a pole could throw off some essential prioperceptive sense or something, so just wondering what to try first. I learned to balance on a Rev board by starting near a wall and just poking it with my fingertip to reset my balance if I started to fall. I’m up to ten minutes on it on a good day, but I can keep my feet more horizontally offset on it than I can on the slack line.
Thanks!
Ground anchor
Hey there trying to find the best way to set up park lines without trees. I have the ability to tie offreally low.... tripods? Up for any and all ideas

Some more practice on my new 1 inch line with a bit of a view. Its quite enjoyable!
Transitioned to my first 1 inch line very recently.
Already counting down the days until I switch to a primitive set up. I wanted the simplicity of ratchets though because I generally slackline alone (nobody else does it here lol) happy with learning more on this one for now though!
Still messing around with different heights/lengths/tensions. It is a whole new beast having it set at its max length (about 80 feet) and set the anchors about 8-9 feet high for this one.
Just wanted to share a funny moment.
Anyone know the of this one?
I know its a Yoga Pose but i have no idea what its is called...
Any slackers in Gurnee IL area?? Trying to find some friends to slack with
reddit.comAre the Gibbon boards a gimmick?
Hey everyone. I really interested in picking up a Gibbon board for at home balance and core training but I can't find any reviews other than what seems sponsored.
Do these things really help improve core strength and train your body or are they purely just a bit of fun to slackline at home watching the TV? Has anyone made really gains and fitness improvements using them?
Spider Slacklines Blueberry Weblock Comparison
Hey everyone, I’m in the market for buying my first weblock for setting up longlines in the park. I like the Blueberry models from Spider and was wondering if anyone had any opinions on the standard version versus the SR version. I like the price point of the standard, it comes out cheaper even when you incorporate a shackle as the connection point. Besides the difference between having to use a shackle as a connection on the standard versus the secondary pin of the SR, does there seem to be much difference, positive or negative, between the two versions?
Would also appreciate to hear from anyone who has any feedback from using either of these Blueberry weblocks.
Thanks for y’all’s input in advance!

Butt Joint 4x4
Hi all,
I bought a ground anchored slack line from Bijou Build that needs 4x4 posts for the span. I want a 10-12 foot span, but for transport I want to be able to use 2-3 shorter sections. About 4-5 feet each and then join them end to end. What can I use for the butt joints that is strong and stable enough, but also can be taken apart for portability?
From a quick search Simpson tie plates seem like they can work, but not sure they are intended to be removed and reinstalled?
Thanks for any advice. (see photo for example)
Slackline groups on NorCal?
Any slack line groups in the Sacramento, Grass Valley, or Chico area? Really interested in trying, but no luck finding active groups. Sacramento would be preferred, but they are all equidistant from me. TIA!
Edit: Willing to travel further for a weekend meetup! Please let me know 🙏
