CS Lewis's book, and why "Entities are always blurry," Questions. A mini rabbit hole
The most common complaint that I personally have come across on these types of Subs is that everything is out of focus, blurry. Why do you think that is? Some of you will say that it's nothing more than pareidolia. Some of you will say that it's because these entities or beings don't live in the same realm or plane as we do, so when we are able to capture them on video or photo or those of us who are "seers," see a blurry figure because it is not a solid 3D object, it's a translucent creature or being seemingly made up of smoke or fog, which would make a focus point impossible for a camera to pick up on. Some of you may say that if they are of the nefarious sort they are doing it intentionally for plausible deniability, to turn the comments sections of these paranormal stubs into exactly what they are.
What CS LEWIS SAID. TL;DR
The concept—that demonic entities manifest as blurry or out of focus to deliberately stir up strife, arguments, and disbelief—comes from paranormal and demonological literature...
While specific modern authors and online researchers frequently discuss this in the context of "spirit photography," the core theological idea traces back to classical demonology, notably found in texts like "The Screwtape Letters" by C.S. Lewis.
Elaboration...
The Strategy of Deception:
The concept relies on a specific spiritual strategy: INTENTIONAL AMBIGUITY.
The elaboration on why these entities remain obscured highlights several key mechanics:
Sowing Discord and Arguments: If an entity manifested with absolute, undeniable clarity, it would eliminate doubt. By remaining blurry, pixelated, or partially visible, it creates a polarizing effect. One person sees a definitive anomaly; another sees a camera glitch or lens flare. This disagreement shifts the focus away from the spiritual reality and triggers interpersonal strife, arguments, and division.
FEEDING DISBELIEF: Ambiguity is the perfect breeding ground for skepticism. In classical demonology, the ultimate goal of an adversary is often to remain unproven or hidden to prevent people from seeking spiritual truth or protection. A blurry manifestation allows the cynical mind to easily dismiss it, reinforcing a state of disbelief.
PSYCHOLOGICAL WEARING-DOWN: Constant, unverified anomalies cause mental and spiritual fatigue. When a person is left guessing what is real and what is a trick of light or technology, it creates a sense of instability, frustrating their peace and pulling focus away from productivity and discipline.
