I get it!
I think Slayer should have stuck with the sound they started to explore on Diabolus/GHUA. I know it was mostly influenced by nu metal at the time, but there are parts on these records that are really sick, even today. I think if they kept going down this route, they could have become reborn as a thrash-influenced metalcore band. Imagining Slayer trying to sound less like Korn and more like Hatebreed is something I think could have come out really sick, especially with Jeff’s hardcore roots.
In retrospect, I don’t really go back to Christ Illusion as much as I do these two albums. It’s cool, but it really is just reheated leftovers from Seasons in the Abyss, with a healthy dose of Machine Head in there. Not bad, but fairly derivative. But this? Slayer was changing with the times, and I think they were stating to catch up. Put them in the studio with Chris Harris circa 2003, and I think they could have come out with the hardest album of their whole career.
What do you guys think?
One of the greatest live albums to be released.
Additionally, how different would the follow up to Seasons be if Lombardo never left?
I know he wasn’t involved much in the songwriting and DI is a solid album, but at that point it was the longest gap between albums.
I wonder how differently the follow up would’ve turned out if Dave stayed and they didn’t need to spend time and energy replacing him.
This sucker is rare as hell. I’ve only seen 3 or 4 of these pop up in the last 25 years.
Who else wishes this stayed as the album cover?
Recently bought out a huge metal cd collection that had been sitting in a storage unit for the last 15+ years- lots of incredible stuff, but everything was pretty filthy, with lots of busted cases. BUT within was some Primo Slayer, and literally stuck to the back of the God Hates Us All cd was this promo disk which is even still kind of sealed. I know it’s not rare or anything, but just a cool little surprise. The OG Metal Blade / Restless copy of Show No Mercy from 87 was the coolest nugget though-
This was bootleg came in clear vinyl (150) and red vinyl (150. There is also 10 splatter vinyl and 4-5 of these MIs Print transition copies.
So, I made this since I'm starting to make cartoons regularly and this marvellous album it's in it's 40th anniversary
Includes Double Sided insert & large folded poster.
I got this one like 20+ years ago. It’s one of my Top Slayer bootlegs of all time. Definitely my favorite Slayer Picture Disc ever!!!
My mother was traveling and she bought these 2 masterpieces for me 🤘🤘🤘
Seasons In The Abyss and God Hates Us All are my fav albums from FUCKING SLAYEEERRRR
