Hi,
we’re four guys, and we’ve put together Westminster’s restaurant scene in an app called Vota. The concept is simple: you see two places side by side (for example Famille vs. Kachina Southwestern Grill), you choose the place you’d rather go to, and the ranking updates instantly. The more people vote, the more accurate the list gets over time. There are still a few duplicates here and there, but I’m continuously cleaning up the data.

Here’s the iPhone version, with categories that actually fit Westminster’s food scene:
https://apps.apple.com/app/vota-restaurant-ratings/id6744969212

And here’s the Android version (finally live):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vota.app

P.S. I’m not from Westminster (I live in Gothenburg). I’m not collecting data, not selling anything, and the app does not use AI-generated content. I’m posting in a few different subreddits because we now support more regions, and I genuinely want honest feedback from people who actually know the area.

Aughris

Heading to North Sligo tomorrow for a couple of nights staying in the Aughris area.

I'll be taking in Strandhill and Coney Island tomorrow and then I'm attending a heritage week event tomorrow night in Enniscrone.

I'd love some suggestions for Friday of things to do in the area. Think cute coffee shops, markets, charity shops, nice lunch spots etc.

TIA 😉

Trying to get an older car up and running again but failed NCT, anyone know the best spot for these repairs?

Hey everyone, I am wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a garage in town that could do these repairs for me and wont fleece me, I'm looking to get these done before a retest on the 17th of next month, so any help here would really be appreciated!

I'll be getting new tires just after the retest when my September pay day rolls around too.

Thanks in advance!

Whoever posted their centra loyalty app you deserve a big ol smooch

There was a thread a couple of weeks ago complaining about Centra's new app and loyalty scheme for chicken fillet roll. A beautiful person named Heather posted a screenshot of her barcode code for the app so people can use it for their rolls. I cannot find the original thread or Heather's username but if you see this, a thousand kisses xx

Coney island text tide service

Does the text service for Coney island work for other people? You text Coney to 51155 and they send you safe crossing info. I've tried it every summer for the last 3 years and I never get a text back.

Just moved to Sligo — looking to meet people and make friends

Hi everyone! I moved to Sligo last week to study at ATU, and I’m finding the move a lonely so far.

I’m also gay, so I’d especially love to meet some LGBTQ+ people or anyone who is open to making new friends. I’m interested in getting out, exploring Sligo, going for walks, having coffee, going to pubs/events, etc.

Are there any LGBTQ+ groups, social events, clubs, or places in Sligo where it’s easy to meet people? Or are there any other students/newcomers here who are also looking to make friends?

Would really appreciate any suggestions 😊

Looking for a garage/workshop to rent in Sligo

Hi, I’m looking for a small garage/workshop to rent in or around Sligo, preferably within 20 km.
Budget up to €1,200 per month.
I’m looking for a secure enclosed unit where I can work on cars — mainly mechanical repairs and maintenance.
Ideally with electricity, water and vehicle access/roller door.
If anyone knows of a garage, workshop, shed or industrial unit available to rent, please let me know. I’m also happy to contact private owners directly.

Beyblade for kids (and adults if interested)

So I did something a little silly cos I'm a soft arse and drove up to Dublin for a Beyblade Tournament ran by Beyblade Ireland. My little man (he's 10) is obsessed with the TV show and the toys but all the tournaments or opportunity to play with others interested is Dublin or Belfast.

Feckin 5 hour drive just to play, dunno what I was thinking. He had a whale of a time though.

Just wondering if there's any interest in something similar round here? Or if there is something and I just don't know about it? He was in the 12 and under tournament, there was a 13 and over tournament. They charged €6 a head and there were 32 kids all playing. Well run too, the kids were more interested in playing each other than misbehaving.
