10,000 FPS capture of underwater discharge cavitation; where collapsing bubble cores briefly exceed the temperature of the Sun's surface!
High-speed footage observing cavitation dynamics caused by localized electrical discharge. The sudden vapor expansion is followed by a violent collapse phase. Because the collapse occurs so quickly, the compressed vapor behaves adiabatically, creating microscopic "hotspots" exceeding 10,000–20,000 Kelvin alongside high-pressure shockwaves.
Fun Fact: While this video uses a spark, acoustic cavitation can also produce sun-level temperatures, a phenomenon known as sonoluminescence, where collapsing bubbles produce tiny flashes of light!
