DO NOT rent a unit in this apartment building, if you know what's good for you. There is an ongoing, persistent, active cockroach infestation in the building and the superintendent/owners DNGAF. They refuse to hire an exterminator to fumigate the building. They slap bandaids on the problem every 6 months or so, with gold glops of goo in kitchen and bathroom cupboards and outlets and poison discs under the sinks in said rooms. We hear the adjoining neighbour plunging their kitchen sink drain nonstop (how this helps, I don't know), and we've seen these nasty bugs in the communal laundry rooms on the walls and in the machines. 🤢

Edit: the property owner is Provincial Distributors Ltd. and the building is also known as Basinview Terrace.

My apartment has more ongoing investigations than a true-crime podcast, and somehow I’m paying to be the main character.

I was already dealing with repair issues, landlord correspondence, and preparing a tenancy dispute. My camera roll is basically an evidence folder with occasional pictures of me trying to have a fucking life.

Then came the bites.

Now I’m dealing with the bed bug situation on top of everything else.

Two of the bites developed into cellulitis, I’m on antibiotics, and I’ve been waking up with more bites.

Pest control has come to inspect, and I’m adding another round of photos, emails, and follow-ups to the pile.

There is something particularly insulting about doing all your laundry and then waking up as breakfast anyway 😂

I would like to spend my time refinishing furniture, making some money, and doing literally anything that doesn’t require a timestamp!

Instead, being a tenant has become an unpaid administrative position where I also provide the catering.

I’m handling it. I’m documenting it. I’m making the calls. But holy fuck, I would like to be allowed to finish dealing with ONE thing before my apartment releases another expansion pack 😣

Anyway. That’s where we’re at. Paying rent to live inside an incident report…
