Who Remembers the Cowboy?

Anyone else remember Desmond "The Cowboy" Mason Seattle Sonics only Slam Dunk Champion. He only spent two years with the Sonics but still was one of my favorites watching growing up.

Mitch Johnson: - Father was John Johnson, who won 1979 NBA championship with Seattle SuperSonics - Mitch born in Seattle, went to HS at O’Dea (same as Paolo Banchero) - Was 21 when Sonics moved to Oklahoma - Now will coach against defending champion Thunder in WCF

Thought this was neat.

A few weeks ago Adam Silver said it was highly unlikely owners would be ready for a vote by the summer. But this just came out recently saying they will in fact be ready. Take the source as you will.

My educated guess is that they’ve zeroed in, in both markets and an amount has been identified. According to this sources’ timetable that would mean in the next 7-8 weeks this could be finalized. Thoughts? Did you expect it this early? Do you even trust the source?

30 Years Ago Today on May 12, 1996, the Sonics Swept the 2x Defending Champion Houston Rockets out of the Western Conference Semifinals.

The thing I remember the most about that series is how great of a job the Sonics defense did at slowing down Hakeem Olajuwon. During that regular season, Hakeem averaged 26.9 PPG on 51.4% shooting, but the suffocating and smothering defense of the Sonics held him to only 18.3 PPG on 47.5% shooting for the entire 4 game series.

Where I found games to watch in seattle

just moved to seattle and still trying to find spots to catch games. stumbled across huddleupapp.org the other day and honestly it's been super helpful. you put in a game and it shows you which bars around the city are actually airing it. thought it might help some other people out here too

Made these stickers for a client who’s a huge Sonics fan. “Ted” fans will get the reference - but felt like you all would appreciate this no matter what 😝

Mom still displays my 7th grade wood shop class final project from 1994.

Got an A- if you’re keeping score at home, for effort and not being a cutting board or clock like everyone else but not perfect enough for the +.

Obscure Sixers/Sonics trivia question: Manute Bol high kick

I have a very vivid NBA memory that I’m trying to verify really happened: I attended a Sonics/Sixers game at the Kingdome in Seattle in the early 1990s. I suspect it was December 9, 1992, but I could be off by a season.

I remember Manute Bol coming off the bench for a few minutes, horsing around for the crowd, and accidentally kicking a Sonics player in the face while doing a gangly through the legs pass.

Did this really happen? Who did he kick? Is there video anywhere?

Sonics light in my garage bar.

My Kid got me this light for Christmas 2 years ago. It's always either been green or yellow but never both....I don't know how it happened but I'll take it.

Wearing after a long break

Thought I’d take these out for a spin around town. It’s been a while. Go, SuperSonics!

ETA: I’ll probably be checking out the World’s Vintage Fair at the Space Needle on Saturday so say “hi” if you see these there!

I heard the Weedle may be there tomorrow?

Decided to make a few T. Weedle shrinky dinks in hopes of seeing the legend in person at the Seattle World’s Vintage Fair. ETA: this is the old-school Weedle.
