Slowly painting my SotP

Currently converting my Ultra Marines into the way better colour scheme of the sons of the phoenix.

I've got about 6 fully completed and 12 primed and ready to be painted. Then another 25 miniatures which need to be primed and loads more that need to be built. Most from the new Armageddon box.

I also need to buy some candles and other items I can add to them but for the meantime I'm just focusing on the painting.

Anyways any tips and tricks are always welcome, thanks for reading.

My attempt at a sons of the phoenix captain in space marine 2

I just recently got into space marine 2 about two months ago and got really hook on warhammer lore. I been looking for a chapter I might like and I found the sons of the phoenix chapter while watching lore videos on YouTube. I tried to make him be a returning deathwatch marine, but let me know if I messed it up. Still trying to learn how to make my marines lore accurate.

What made you choose the Sons of the Phoenix?

I've always been a Imperial Fists successors guy, and was a big Imperial Fists guy specifically for a while. As a Catholic, I am always drawn towards the Imperial Creed and the hyper-religous aesthetic. I wanted to love the Black Templars, but their scheme is pretty boring, and they are a bit too... I dunno, weird.

The Sons of the Phoenix are everything I love about the Black Templar lore, and more (plus our paint scheme is SICK).

Why'd you plunge into the flames of war?

[WIP] Codex non-compliant Librarian

Thoughts on this scheme for a SotP Terminator Librarian?

Well aware that they're usually blue etc etc but I thought this would be a cool look for the rest of my army.

Will probably go over the glowing runes with a lighter yellow to sell the glow effect and do the axe similarly to the sword on my last post

1st Company Chaplain Conversion

Think I’m happy and I’ll leave it there for my new 1st Company Chaplain!

Any critiques or suggestions more than happy to take on board! Just want to finalise before he gets undercoated!

I thought the minis were bigger

When I was printing tanks and watching how to paint minis I thought they were bigger than 3,8 cm in height)

Bottle cap FTW )

Emperor's Champion

My take on a SotP *Company" Champion (title incorrect) - thoughts on the "red-hot" effect on the blade? Does it sell?

Will probably base this model with Martian iron crust and some grey grass to match the rest of my SotP

What faction do you run your army as?

Just curious on everyone here's take on what to run as? It didnt really dawn on me that you could run this army as several things but just painted up.

So what so you all prefer to run?

Generic SM?

Black Templars?

Chapter specific SM?

Reasons for running? Enlighten and inspire me please.

Thematic army list/detachments?

So I stumbled upon this chapter after my armageddon box came(which I got mainly for orks). I've never made a SM army, closest I got was a squad of GK way back in 3rd when they came out under Daemonhunters(and I plan to make one whenever they finally get a refresh lol).

Anyway I know these guys are fluffy very religious, very candles and stuff but what kind of army would be suited or is there nothing really about that?

Also for actual gameplay, do you basically say you are an IF army and just painted as SOTP? Do you guys use IF Hero units still or is that not allowed? I would love to use the Tor Garadon model(that fist is perfection lol) but unsure if thats allowed.

Captain ready to save Armageddon!

From the moment I saw the previews, one question plagued me: "Can I fit a candle inside that halo?" The answer is yes.
