v114.602.170.1 firmware now available for install in UK
I’m hoping this resolves the ongoing audio issues, but recent comments suggest that’s not the case. Good luck to those installing!

I am considering the B9ii and know about the HDMI audio issues. But, I guess my question is, what setup actually causes it? Is it only if you run HDMI out for sound? Is it anything you have hooked up to it's HDMI ports at all will have the problems, whether the tv is connected to an audio system?
Currently, the tv I would be replacing controls all the video switching, so I would have a few things hooked up to the tv via HDMI, and one audio out to a receiver. I thought I read somewhere that if you use a different audio out, other than HDMI, then you wouldn't have an issue?
Maybe someone else can confirm or disprove this based on my settings. I noticed that the audio drift seemed to affect only Netflix, Paramount+, Hulu and HBO Max, all of which I have ordinary, non-premium subscriptions to. Fine for the first few minutes, then suddenly the syncing was off. Sometimes by a fraction, sometimes it was WTF.
However, whenever I played newer content with actual Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos (like a lot of Apple TV's new shows/movies), I never experienced a sync problem (as in never, either before or after the June firmware update).
>My setup (United States): Sony BRAVIA 8 running the latest U.S. firmware, BRAVIA Theatre System 6, and the latest Apple TV 4K running the latest tvOS update. Everything says "Up to date" as of today.
Initially, I thought it was Apple TV+ versus “everyone else.” Then I rented a movie from 2017 last night through the Apple TV Store thinking that anything from the store was "stable," (I was wrong), and for the first time, it also developed the same sync issue. I checked and discovered that it was just an ordinary HD/SDR title. So my suspicion now was with the Apple TV output settings. Anything without the "Dolby Vision" or "Dolby Atmos" icon in the title, produced a syncing issue (eventually).
My Apple TV had been set to 4K Dolby Vision 60 Hz because I assumed that was the “best” setting overall. This meant Apple TV was converting ordinary SDR content into a Dolby Vision output signal. I’m wondering whether that conversion triggered a vulnerability introduced by Sony’s recent firmware update. I don't remember when that setting was changed, it might have been at the same time this all went down in June.
Anyway.
I went ahead and changed the settings (Apple TV) to:
So far, I haven’t been able to trigger the sync error again, even after repeatedly pausing, rewinding and scrubbing through titles that reliably caused it before. Everything seems to be working perfectly, the Apple TV feels noticeably snappier, and the BRAVIA 8 automatically switches into Dolby Vision when I play genuine Dolby Vision content. Atmos also activates automatically when the title provides it.
I can’t say whether this is strictly an Apple TV issue, a Sony firmware issue, or an interaction between the two, but this appears to have fixed it for my BRAVIA 8 + Theatre 6 setup. I've been testing it all morning, and by now, I'm usually able to trigger a sync issue usually within minutes, and it hasn't triggered one yet on these new settings.
For the Playstation: I’m currently testing a possible PS5-side fix as well. Under Settings → Sound → Audio Output, I set HDMI Device Type to AV Amplifier/5.1 and changed Audio Format Priority from Dolby Atmos to Linear PCM. Linear PCM is uncompressed and requires less processing, so if the PS5 stays synchronized this way, it may point to an issue with how Sony’s current firmware is handling Atmos over eARC.
I bought my first Sony Bravia TV, the Bravia 8 OLED just over a year ago and am shocked at how many issues this TV has. We’ve had constant problems with it from day one.
I’m wondering if these are known issues with the Bravia/if other Reddit users have experienced similar or if we have a faulty unit?
I have a HTA3000 soundbar and RS3 rear speakers.
Acoustic Centre Sync is unusable because the TV speakers emit a loud static sound when activated, even after changing the cable which came with the TV.
Apple TV 4K has constant audio sync issues, compounded by visual stuttering as the TV A/V sync attempted to resync the video and audio. Trying all manner of different settings on the Apple TV and Bravia didn’t fix the issue which rendered the Apple TV unusable for me.
Since a recent update we also now have audio delay issues whenever we connect an HDMI service. I have experienced this on my laptop, PS5 and Xbox Series X and on both the soundbar and TV speakers.
Recently, broadcast TV over aerial in the UK also has weird motion handling in certain shots. Looking at the menu settings I can see the TV is randomly switching between detecting a progressive and interlaced signal multiple times during the same programme, with motion becoming juddery and unnatural when it detects an interlaced issue.
The TV flashes white on and off when VRR is switched on in game mode playing HDR/Dolby Vision games on the Xbox Series X.
Is it common to have this many issues? Are these issues I’d also face on an LG OLED or are they unique to Sony?
What are options to buy an extended warranty from Sony for a Bravia 9 ii 75 inch
So I’m looking at upgrading my 65” tv and getting a 75” Bravia 9 for my living room before they are all gone. I have 3 OLEDs and love them, but my living room tv gets a lot of natural light and is pretty much on all day between myself, my wife and two kids’ schedules.
Main usage will be:
\-Streaming Movies and tv shows
\-4k blurays
\-YouTube
\- sports
\- lowish quality tv streams from my wife’s home country
No gaming as I do that on my s90f and also can watch movies on my Panasonic z95 that will be moved to the bedroom.
The Bravia 9 ticks a lot of boxes with its brightness, Google OS, glossy screen, great black levels, upscaling capabilities, no risk of burn in etc.
For those that came from an OLED to MinI LED did you regret it in terms of picture quality?
Have you audio sync issue gang reset Bravia sync and reconfirmed the handshake?
The gap below the tv to the sound bar seems way too large. HELP!!!
Bonjour,
Just noticed this discoloration randomly tonight on the right side of our x90ck. There's like a greenish tint half circle on the right side of the screen. Anyone experience this before?
I purchased a 43” Sony Bravia 3ii bc of the lack of flicker. However, I also need a TV that gets dark bc I want to watch in my bedroom, and my eyes are sensitive to light. The Bravia 3ii gets somewhat dark if I crank brightness, contrast, etc down to zero. The image crushes, but at least it’s dark. My problem is arising with the menu/interface. When I go to the menu to select a streaming platform, the platform to select a show, or even just to fast forward, it’s blindingly bright. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix it or what tv to trade it for?
I had also considered the LG B5 OLED bc the lights actually individually turn off for black/darkness, but I’m concerned about flicker even though it’s a different kind. And the Vizio Mini LED Quantum 4 and Bravia 2ii bc peak brightness is lower.
Hi,I can get a Sony Bravia 8 for $1616 or an LG C6H for $1969. Which would you go with?
Picked up a Bravia 8 from Costco a week or so ago and it is constantly clicking when turned off. Like every few minutes I hear the on/off click.
When powering on, i have to press the power button on the remote two to three times before the TV finally shows a picture.
Is this related to the firmware issues or do I have a dud? Thanks!
It’s only noticeable when you’re right up close to it but with how expensive it is I wanted to know if this is normal behaviour, can someone with the same TV maybe check theirs and see if it’s the same
As the title suggests, is this overkill?
Current set up is Theatre Bar 9, RS9 and SW9. I can’t have the sub at the front next to my TV (due to TV wall), but have got the sub on the left hand side of my sofa.
Could I add a second sub to the right hand side of my sofa for balance?
Has anyone done this and can share feedback?
Not so much interested in it being loud, but more interested in balanced bass. At the moment the bass is coming from the left side corner of the room (opposite to the TV). It still spikes good, but could it sound better by adding another to the right hand side.
Thanks
As it says, I ran the latest update last night. This morning there is no sound at all. Only difference I can think of would be the update. I have tried all the recovery steps, including a factory reset. Nothing works. Has this happened to anyone else, or am I just an idiot?
I am planning to buy Bravia 3 75 inch - as it is Independence Day sale , I am getting it for 1.3 lakh rupees with 3 year warranty. Should I buy or wait for Dussehra sale . Do you think price can drop more than this ?
Shared this comment in another post, but also sharing it here: If you (1) live in California, (2) your tv is still under warranty and (3) it’s been over 30 days, you can now legally request a refund via California civil code § 1793.2: https://law.justia.com/codes/california/code-civ/division-3/part-4/title-1-7/chapter-1/article-3/section-1793-02/
I'm looking to add the Sony BRAVIA Theater Rear 9s to my current setup (Bravia Bar 9 + Sub 9). I have a couple of questions.
Labor Day Sales: What are the chances they drop back down to $549 on Sony’s website for Labor Day? With my student discount 10% and saved rewards ($67), buying directly from Sony would make the price gap significantly better.
Price Check: Is $599 a reasonable price for the Rear 9s, or should I hold out?
Greentoe: They're listed for $599 with tax/shipping included, but I've never ordered from them before. How is your overall experience buying through Greentoe, and how are returns if needed?
