Bought this TV because I thought it would be a dimmer TV for a bedroom, however, this Sony is unexpectedly too bright for me. It's not the peak brightness in content, it's the overall light output of the TV (Anyone know the correct terminology for that)? Have tweaked settings as recommended, also for easy on eyes. But even with the brightness on MINIMUM, it's still very bright for me. The home menu is the worst.

Basically, if this TV was a lightbulb, it could use a dimmer switch or lower wattage.

Questions:

1. This is my first Sony, are they all this bright?
2. Am limited because I need 43 inch, anyone have any less bright TV suggestions? (cheap TVs ok) Just want to watch a few streaming shows.
3. Are there any Settings to knock down brightness I might have overlooked?
4. At the store, the Sony Bravia 2ii was dimmer than this one, so am considering that, but it wasn't showing the home menu, so hard to tell. Anyone have feedback on comparative screen brightness on the 2 ii model, or the Bravia 3? Thanks so much.

I have a Sony Bravia (Google TV) which will sometime pause while I’m watching streaming programming such as Netflix or HBO Max. It thinks I’ve asked it a question, pauses for a bit, and then the steaming programming resumes. It’s almost as if it heard something in the programming that it thought was a question. I have one other device (Lenovo Smart Clock) in another room that responds to “Ok Google” but when this happens nobody is talking; the only sound is coming from the TV. It’s not the end of the world; just weird and would like to understand why it happens.

I used to think it only happens when i connect my airpods to it but turns out it presist regardless. I hear static or electric ticks that genuinely throw me off cause i be playing ps5 and every few seconds the sound disappears for a second and then comes back. It is really annoying and frustrating and completly ruins the experience for me i have searched everyone. No good. Please help me! And thank you.

On some new LED TVs now, the picture on the screen is constantly moving. Even in a stationary shot, the picture is composed of clouds that break up, swirl, re-form, with some sparkling too.

(This isn't a repair or panel question. It's just what some screens look like now.) It can make the picture look soft and mushy, instead of sharp and clear.

In contrast, my 9-year-old basic LED TV does this only very slightly, and it's only visible an inch away from the screen. But at the store, this effect was visible on some new TVs from 10 feet away. It gave me motion sickness.

Tweaking the settings on one of these TVs didn't help eliminate this effect. 

Questions:

1. Is there a descriptive word for this? 
2. What causes this? And why could older LEDs create a more stable picture?
3. Is this maybe the result of pixels trying to create a picture? 
4. Is there any way to stop this?

Whatever this is, would like to know what it's called, so can avoid it if possible. Thx

I have the Sony Bravia 9 TV along with the Bravia Soundbar 9 and an Apple TV. I’ve had issues where for someone reason, the soundbar somehow loses its connection where it no longer works as a combined pair with the Sony TV as indicate in the Bravia Connect App. When this disconnection occurs, the sound stops going out of the soundbar and instead uses the TV speakers. We watch all our TV through the Apple TV.

I’ve noticed that the only way to get it talking and reconnecting properly with the Sony TV is to disconnect the HDMI cable from my Apple TV. The Bravia Connect App then shows me the option to connect the soundbar with the Sony tv as a pair again which is how it should be all the time. The audio then starts outputting properly to the soundbar.

I’ve tried connecting the soundbar directly to the tv and Apple TV to the Sony TV’s hdmi input and I’ve also tried connecting the Apple TV to the soundbar and then the soundbar to the earc of the TV.

In either case, after some time has passed, the soundbar and Sony tv stop working as a pair forcing me to disconnect the Apple TV HDMI.

I’m going to be moving into our new home this week and wanted to ask everyone here, what is the ideal way of setting this up? What should be connected to what? Are there any settings I’m missing here that could help resolve the issue. I can also confirm that all my HDMI inputs are set to Enhanced Format. So that’s not the issue. I’ve also tried different high quality hdmi cables but still having the same disconnecting issues.

Any ideas or solutions would be appreciated.
