Spectrum wont stop charging me international fees when I havent even left the country!!!!

I thought i had this resolved last month but I guess not. I live and work next to the Canadian border. Last month I had 50 dollars in international fees at work. I work in the United states!! I havent left!!! We called spectrum last month and they gave me free international data roaming. We'll apparently they didnt, because i just got charged 100 dollars! I cant afford to pay that. I need my phone for work! I asked for a refund last time but they couldn't refund me because they send "welcome to canada" messages. That bullshit, I have zero messages from spectrum in my messages history or deleted messages. They never sent me a single warning and I have screenshot proof. Its not my fault I live near Canada. Screw you

Kinda odd situation.

So last weekend my Pixel 9XL was stolen when we went tubing. I ended up ordering a used phone an S24 FE that's supposed to be in tomorrow. I started poking around and apparently I had insurance on the Pixel which is kinda crazy since I never do insurance on phones. But looks like I'm gonna have to pay a 300+ deductible to get it replaced. Right now just don't have the spare cash for a week or two. This is the time or the month a lot of my bills fall on.

My question is, can I switch to using the S24 FE for a week or two until I can get the money to replace the Pixel through insurance. Or will that cause some type of conflict on my account that will keepe from being able to use the insurance later? If that's the case I'll just grab a sim from another company and use that for a couple weeks.

Is verizon the correct people to contact.

I was going to switch over from spectrum to verizon. I had a door to door rep tell me that verizon would pay off my device if i brought it over. That was incorrect. I ported my number (3 lines) over to verizon. Spectrum then locked my phones as they needed to be paid off. Spectrum took me back and I am staying with them. Now all lines worked except mine. Spectrum says that they can’t port the # they are saying verizon still has it. Verizon says they don’t have it. Spectrum says I need to escalate with verizon. I’m lost. I have a temp # for now.

Straight Talk phones from Walmart are unlocked until activated

I recently bought a ST moto edge 5g (hell of a budget phone btw) from Walmart and foolishly activated with ST thinking that they still did 60 days off consecutive service and the phone is unlocked. It is now a year of service and they'll unlock it! Total BS.

Well I returned it within the 14 day window and bought another ST moto edge and simply did not use the in box Sim or instructions, put a visible esim on it easily, and I'm using right now with great results.

Here's the kicker, my friend was going to buy an A26 Samsung through straight talk on a promotion and I informed him that he can use his spectrum mobile free year of service with the phone if he pops the SIM in before anything straight talk is done to the phone.

Wouldn't you know it? It worked!! Now I'm starting to see a trend here. It seems as long as the service uses Verizon towers almost exclusively, straight talk branded phones can be used elsewhere if you activate it before straight talk sinks their grimey teeth into it.

Has anyone else noticed this? I'm considering going back to Walmart and buying a random ST smartphone and using the visible 15 free day trial just to confirm it's not just Samsung and Motorola this works with.

I am not surprised since the SIMs are not inside the phones and ST is a little sloppy with how they do things. I am very happy because Walmart is highly convenient and ST runs consistent promotions on their phones so one can grab them dirt cheap and immediately take them elsewhere.

Compared to ST on the moto edge 2025, visible (the 35 plus plan) is much, MUCH better coverage in my area in central Indiana. I feel like a boss tbh, and I have been very excited to sit down and write this up for reddit. There's really nothing to lose if the other service does not work on a straight talk phone you've purchased as the 14 day window to return with receipt and box is very simple and straightforward in my experience.

Hope I've helped someone out there!! Give this a shot and post if this works for you as well. I am very pleased with the moto edge 2025 on visible and my friend is much happier with spectrum mobile, again, when compared to ST. Let's see if there's a real trend here and straight talk phones are unlocked, or close to it considering the variables involved with the experiences I've documented.

Good luck, and I'm very happy to be on visible again and having only paid $199.99 plus tax for the moto edge 5g 2025; it is what I would consider the ultimate budget phone at the moment.

Again good luck to any who try this because it has worked three times now in my small slice of life. I don't see why it wouldn't, as long as the IMEI checker for the service of your choice says the phone is compatible or the service uses Verizon towers if it doesn't pass the IMEI checker it should work. Any more info on this phenomena is welcome.

I have a small feeling this may not actually be news to anyone very familiar with straight talk but I thought I'd share!

Can I use a spectrum phone with visible?

Can I use a spectrum phone with visible? Has anybody switched? Visible is saying this S26 I got through spectrum isn't compatible even though it's carrier unlocked. When I tried to run the IMEI number through spectrums Bring your own device checker it's saying it isn't compatible.

Does sim swap still work with byod?

I bought an unlocked moto 5g power 2024 for my kid assuming it would work with spectrum byod. I plug in imei and nope! I read how in the past you just use a different phone, get the the sim card and put in the phone they claim don't work. Does this still work?

Moto Razr Fold

Bought the Fold directly from Motorola. Their website said it’s compatible with Spectrum. Tried to activate it with the eSIM and it said it isn’t. Chatted with customer service and they said it wasn’t compatible either, trying the sim 1 slot IMEI and the eSIM IMEI. Would it be worth getting a physical sim and trying that, or just returning the phone?

ETA: I have iPhone 16 Pro Max so no physical sim tray. I have an iPad Pro that has a physical sim tray but I don’t want to screw up the plan.

Samsung S26

Got the Samsung S26 with the $700 trade in promo. Paid the device in full with the intentions of pulling the device off in 60 days. It's been 90 days so I contacted them and it wasn't unlocked and they said they were putting the request in. Still hasn't been unlocked. A friend of mine went through weeks of back and forth trying to get her device unlocked.

Anybody know the easiest way to get this device unlocked?

Decent Phone To Get Me By?

So over the weekend my year old Pixel 9 XL got stolen after we went tubing. I have a moto g power running on a visible sim but its from 21 and its so unbearably slow. Wondering if something I can grab (used is perfectly fine) to get me by for now. I been looking at some other motorolas but I'm find with something else. Just android only. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I don't have a ton to spare right now maybe 200-250. Ill have some more funds in a couple months I can grab another flagship. I just need to get something I can actually use. I use my phone a lot for work.

Edit - I forgot I really need a screen preferably in the 6.7+ size, 5g, and wireless charging IF possible.

Data Throttling

Can anyone please confirm whether it’s true that Charter has removed data throttling on its unlimited plans?

I CAN’T have data throttling at all just based on how heavily I use my phone outside of WiFi. A support representative told me that Charter got rid of data throttling. I feel like he lied to me to get me to switch.

There is so much conflicting information online, and every time I call their support line, someone says something different.

RCS Outage

I just called spectrum and they said there is an outage on RCS between iPhone and android users. is this true because there’s no news article or reddit post about this? I’ve been having problems with receiving text from android on iPhone.

Spectrum fails it’s customers and so does FedEx

I returned my new iPhone to Spectrum via FedEx and after multiple calls and escalations, I was told that when the box was opened, there was no phone inside and the insurance won’t cover the theft because the phone was never activated and I still owe the $600. I have filed a police report and a FedEx claim. I also plan to contact the Attorney General about as this too! As far as FedEx goes cellphone theft is a known issue with their employees and as far as Spectrum goes cellphone theft during deliveries is a known issue, yet their insurance contract won’t cover unactivated cell phones. Agents also recommend that you try your phone for 30 days to see if you like it, while knowing that you only have 14 days to return your phone.

Fell for a scam :(

Long story short, my dumbass fell for the reship scam.

I called spectrum to cancel a service, then they offered me a bundle to switch from Verizon and combine with my cable and get a new iPhone 17 pro max. Hell of a deal. And then…

They called my wife’s phone a day after delivery while I was doing something and she didn’t give me any details other than “it’s spectrum”. Of course they told me all of my order details (unprompted) and all of my personal info, told me they sent me the wrong phone, and then told me they would call fedex and have them show up on Monday with a shipping label in hand. I never even saw the label.

I figured it out today when fedex stopped across the street and kept going. I researched it and I fell into the trap. I called spectrum and explained everything to their fraud department and they said they’d put in a ticket to get me a refund. What are my chances that’ll actually happen and I’ll get a replacement phone?

Data usage showing negative numbers

Has anyone else experienced this? I’ve been a customer for a while and every other month is normal. It just started doing this. It almost seems like it’s counting backwards but I haven’t used that much of either type of data to support that theory.

Data packs?

Has anyone had their bill jump up and have "data packs" applied to their bill? I have no idea why but my mother's spectrum mobile business account has almost $160 in extra fees added to her account. All of her lines are unlimited and several are the unlimited plus so I have no idea what these fees are.
