Revised KUNA causing issues with Trip

Revised KUNA causing issues with Trip

I thought that I would share this here as I am going through this.

My KUNA was made June 2026, it has an updated lower from the factory that looks like it was created to prevent the use of a trip. it causes SEVERE binding.

Updated version

Original Design

Trip with binding marks

I have been talking with /u/YourBroStevo and that is his impression as well.

Upon deeper inspection, it does not look like these raised, I'll call them, fingers have any try function inside of the firearm. My thought is to grind them down to the previous version's profile.

Just wanted to share this incase people who recently purchased a KUNA were contemplating ordering or making their own trips.

I reached out to SA asking what the function of these raised fingers are and they gave me vague responses;

"After a product is released, we continue to evaluate an improve our products. As part of that ongoing process, Enhanced design features may be incorporated into firearms already in production in order to help with fluxionality."

I asked for additional details and got this as a response:

"It can depend, this is pry feeding and extraction.

So runs smoother."

Does anyone else have these in theirs that is running the factory lower FRT?

What have you done to allow a trip to function? (I am currently PA6-CF, however, I am wondering if I were to have this made of metal with a groove in the middle to allow the finger to remain, what longevity would I be sacrificing?)

Kuna or Stribog

Worried your buddy with a Stribog is looking down on you? Regretting that you didn’t get that sexy squared off hand guard? We’ll have we got something for you!

…Actually, I am working on a super flush handguard.
I’m going to use the internal geometry of the handguard to index on, and potentially features on the top of the receiver as well.
I’m debating using the front side mlok points to secure it, maybe with a low profile plate on the outside.

I’m open to suggestions, what would people like to see? Extended to the limit of the muzzle device ports with the same profile as the original front? Squared off?
Flared out and much longer for a suppressor or flash can?

BOE Incolite 9

Gonna run it tomorrow, weather permitting (local private range is a mud hole when it rains hard) Blazer Clean Suppressed 147s and Sellier and Bellot 150g suppressed. Finners crossed it's as good as the reviews that got me here.

Almost complete

Form 1 approved today went with Sig minimalist stock. Shot great for 250 rounds. Preferred it to an mpx that I have put around 3000 rounds through. Rugged Sub 9 is on the way.

Spectre 9 vs. Milkman vs. Incolite 9?

Looking at cans and need the hive to decide for me. I’m sure I can’t go wrong, but is there anything I’m missing? Thanks!

Kuna is my favorite gun

I was excited for this video and watched it a few minutes after it was posted. But sad to hear he mostly talked about the negatives. I understand he has a huge gun collection so he doesn't need the Kuna when he has mp5. But for people like me that won't spend the money for mp5. I love my Kuna it's my favorite gun to take to the range and the gun that most gets me excited to make time to go to the range. And the way it looks is so sick. And anytime I let a friend shoot my Kuna...they end up loving it

My arc fire trigger is only acting in arc fire mode when set to semi.

I recently got a nexus lower for my kuna and got an arc fire v2 trigger kit and am using the dirty bird single stage milspec for the other trigger components. Idk if I’m installing the selector wrong but when I am in semi auto on the selector it’s acts like arc fire not semi auto. Anyone know how to fix?

Trilug adapter for Omega 9k

Just received my Kuna and for the life of me cannot find the Sico mount anywhere in stock, muzzle device in stock everywhere. I’m half tempted to throw an asr single port brake and asr hub if I can find one. Anyone know where to find the mount in stock or an alternative that isn’t crap? Or do I just say screw or and use my asr single port brake and qd hub?

Stock fire control grouo

Anyone have a spare trigger pack they'd like to get rid of after going to a nexus lower? I took mine apart and got it back together but now the front pin that the hammer rest on when trigger is pulled but floats when trigger is reset fell out and now I can't find it. Springfield wants the whole firearm back to replace the one pin. I figured id ask here to see if anyone has a stock trigger pack they're looking to get rid of. If so pm me and we can work something out!

Primary arms reticles?

Hey folks. Here is my situation.

TLDR: any reason to pay for an ACSS Gemini optic when I already have an ACSS Cyclops II optic?

I am a very happy owner of a Kuna, which currently sports a low mounted Holosun ARO Core model (just a dot, nothing fancy). Perfectly happy with it.

I also have several ARs, one of which I have tried and failed to get a Primary Arms SLX 1x and a SLX 3x magnifier to play nice with each other. No matter how much I mess with the diopters, they just won't do what I want, at least not the way I want.

So, my new plan is to remove the SLX 1x from the AR upper and put the ARO on there. I assume it'll play nice with the 3x magnifier, but we will see.

Meanwhile, I will have a spare SLX 1x optic. This one has the ACSS Cyclops II reticle, which is a BDC designed for 5.56 and maybe .308 rounds.

What I am trying to decide is whether it's worth it to get the SLX 1x with the ACSS Gemini reticle (designed for 9mm) or just repurpose the Cyclops reticle and ignore the BDC. I doubt I'd be shooting out beyond about 50m with this Kuna anyway, so the BDC may be kinda pointless.

What say you all?

Backplate Adapter

PLA+ concept amongst a few other ideas I will show later. Fitment is snug and I could honestly strengthen it if a few places. A little small exterior and a little too snug. Need some ideas or do I try out this telescopic brace idea? Maybe a stock or a brace idk yet.

Getting close to being done with us

A lot of you guys saw the other handguard I posted that was an extended version of the Skye. There were enough issues I had with that version that I decided to model a new one from scratch. I dropped the pic section to reduce splash from the IR light when my thumb is on the switch.

The sides have a plate system that allow the mounting hardware to be installed after the handguard is one. So getting the Mlok nuts in from the front it not a pain anymore.

The cutout for the mounting plates are the same size as a BCM QD sling mount so that can be used in place of one of the plates. Pretty happy with the progress. Need to make a few minor adjustments and then try printing with PA6.

Fire control group

My dumbass didn’t take a picture of how it was before I took it apart to clean. Any videos or walkthroughs on how and where these damn springs go? I’ve got the diagram from Springfield but it’s just an exploded view

Blazer Clean-Fire

I am not sure what ammo everyone is running but the Blazer 147G Clean-Fire is fantastic so far. I just did a little test of 5 rounds comparing it to other 147G I have and it was super quiet. Got it for $13.19 + tax/box of 50 too. Came out to $140.21 for 500 rounds

HSGI Taco- "Gen 1" Double Pouch or 2X "Gen 2" Single Mag pouch?

I'm building a battle belt for a Springfield Kuna PCC and a handgun. There aren't many options for mag pouches that fit Kuna mags but lots of folks seem to like the HSGI Taco so that's what I'm getting. HSGI currently offers both their gen 1 mag pouches and gen 2 mag pouches.

The Gen 1 series has both single mag pouches and double mag pouches for tall pistol mags.

The Gen 2 series only offers single mag pouches for tall pistol mags.

My options are essentially a 1X "Gen 1" double mag pouches or 2X "Gen 2" single mag pouches. I will be attaching the pouches to an Esstac battle belt using One-Wrap velcro strips.

This is my first battle belt and I don't have much background knowledge so I wanted to see if there are any serious disadvantages to getting 2X single mag pouches. I imagine that the double mag pouches would be more stable, but I don't know whether or not single pouches would be unstable. I'd really prefer to go with 2X "Gen 2" single mag pouches but I wanted to get some input before taking the leap.

Silencer choice

I’m looking at getting a silencer for my Kuna. What’s everybody using? Thinking about the PTR Vent 2, but that’s not set in stone. I’m going to change my lower so I can run an FRT. I know the Vent line is supposed to be a high flow silencer, but will I need to do something else to run a silencer with an FRT? Is there a better high flow silencer I need to be looking at when running an FRT? Do I need to do something with the gas system?
