Im new to cse and this gonna be the first investment
I've been looking at Softlogic Life for my portfolio but on an individual basis. As far as I know, Softlogic Life is governed by insurance regulatory commission and is separate from the group activities.
Damn It posted a very good video about the group Softlogic Holdings (SHL.N0000): 4 Deferments, 1 Warrant Deal & the Questions SEC Won't Answer
I notice that AAIC price is going down even when the company is profitable, is the sentiment around the Softlogic brand affecting the stock price? The dividend yield looks good around 5.5-6%, is this because the holding co which owns 50% wants to pull money out of AAIC as dividends?
Looking forward to some advice on why the stock should be or should not be considered for portfolios at this time.
I'm new to stock market in general, I have about 50k-80k a month I can spend on investments. I don't know what to use it on. Gold, stocks etc? I'm looking at long term 3-5 year targets. UTF etc are also heavily taxed so It doesn't seem like an attractive option now
Just wanted to point out that JXG's acquisition of Continental Insurance shares today was disclosed after the market was closed at 3.30pm under the CSE corporate disclosures. But the share price was already up today at around 11.30am. Insider trading or coincidence? Is insider trading common here? Relatively new to the exchange so would like to know your thoughts.
From returns from equity fund (compared to other major ones like FC) and research quality to customer support to their own share price to even Google reviews?
Did something happen inside the company like management change or smart people leaving? Is it anymore worth it?
Edit: Title grammar gotta change XD
Greetings Traders!
I'm 18 with around 50 000 that I'm willing to invest. I'm completely new to this and I have no idea to where to start :(
I downloaded the CSE app, made an account (js a CSE account) But didn't make the CDS account yet.
Not trying to be rich overnight or gamble till it fumbles but rather Properly learn this and get my hands on investing in CSE long term.
Firstly, Should I just spend time learning and watching vids and stuff or make the CDS account?
I did watch a few yt vids but almost all of them keep repeating the same stuff.
Who are some good brokers?
Should I invest the whole amount at once or gradually?
with a relatively small amount like LKR 50,000, is it better to invest in one company that I’ve researched and believe in, or split it between several different companies to diversify?
Please gimme more info on approaching this for the first time, that you guys think is importanttt!!
Thank you very much in advance!
I really appreciate all your support<3
I was going through the recent Annual Report for JKH and noticed they had borrowed USD for the CODSL. Why borrow USD for a 5-year tenure when the currency will depreciate over the long term?
Is this because leisure earnings from Cinnamon and CODSL are in USD helping them hedge the USD repayments + interest and also the earnings from container terminal?
They are also importing BYDs using USD and selling in rupees.
They will also be paying franchise fees and royalties to Wendy's in USD but selling in rupees.
