Is it just me or ?

Hey just a woman 40s from Staffordshire looking for some clarity 🙂
Can someone please help me out here by telling me there are actually guys and women out there that are “normal” I feel like I’ve been living amongst a place full of sex pests. Majority all seem to be after one thing. We’re all looking for something I guess but mate don’t be jumping in my DM’s smooth talking acting like an actual nice guy then bam a dick pic or a kink request or a hook up without knowing what I even look like !!! Has nobody got the self respect or standards anymore to check if they have 2 heads or have hooked up with a stranger an hour before meeting you. We all love to be adored and attention is desired by most but MATE calm down with the desperation it’s doing you no favours ……

anyone know of any jazz/blues/soul/rnb jams?

Been playing bass for a little over a year and a half now but feeling a bit stagnant without anywhere to jam and practice! I live in Leek and there doesn't seem to be much in the way of jams about other than a few folk groups I've seen anyone know of any in the realm of jazz or anything adjacent?

Searching for Photographs from the 1984-85 Miners Strike at Hem Heath Colliery Stoke-on-Trent - Can Anyone Help?

Hi everyone,

I am hoping someone local might be able to help me with something that means a great deal to me.

My grandfather was a miner at Hem Heath Colliery in Stoke-on-Trent during the 1984-85 miners' strike. He passed away when I was just two years old and I never got to know him. I have very few photographs of him and I am desperately trying to find any images from the strike period that may feature him.

I wondered if anyone in this community:

- Has any connection to Hem Heath Colliery or the Trentham area of Stoke-on-Trent

- Knows of any local groups, community archives or collections with photographs from the 1984-85 strike

- Was there during the strike or knows someone who was and may have personal photographs

I have already contacted Stoke-on-Trent City Archives, the Staffordshire Record Office and several photographers but am still waiting on replies.

I have a photograph of my grandad and nan I am happy to share privately if anyone thinks they can help identify them.

Even just one photograph of him would mean the world to me and my family.

Thank you so much.

Kayleigh

Discrimination or Neutrality? The Leaked Email Exposing the Staffordshire Pride Display Ban

Staffordshire County Council's decision to ban Pride displays in public libraries is a major step backward for inclusion disguised as "neutrality."

The controversy began when a leaked email revealed library staff received a "clear political steer" from Cllr Hayley Coles to remove all Pride-related displays, activities, and communications.

Council leader Cllr Martin Murray defended the move, claiming the new Libraries Strategy 2026–2028 prohibits using taxpayer resources to promote any specific group or identity.

However, the council's definition of neutrality is deeply inconsistent. Taxpayer-funded library spaces are still being used for political purposes, such as a councillor surgery held by Reform UK's Matthew Wallens on Saturday, June 20th.

While Reform UK insists LGBTQ+ books remain available on shelves, hiding them from view eliminates vital visibility. No similar bans have been issued for Black History Month, local heritage, or disability awareness events.

This decision does not create a neutral space. It singles out a specific community and creates an intentional absence, showing that this policy is less about neutrality and more about discrimination.

Council boundaries

So I was wondering with all the talk of the council boundaries changing, how it’s actually going to work.

ive been online and had a look but can’t get a conclusive answer. All I know is we’re being merged into three councils. Does anyone have any idea what those three councils consist of

forgive me for my ignorance. Any help is appreciated. Thank u

Hanch Hall Cathedral

Surely that's not Lichfield Cathedral? Well, no, but it was a cardboard replica of it and it's probably dissolved by now. #HanchHallCathedral #Longdon #Staffordshire #FollyFellowship #Follies #Folly #follies.org.uk
