Which wireless TVs offer the best picture quality for watching concerts and shows at home?

Which wireless TVs offer the best picture quality for watching concerts and shows at home?

A live show or a film leans on a large, sharp picture to pull the room in. The StanbyME 2 Max steps up to a 32 inch 4K screen, up from the 27 inch QHD StanbyME 2, for a bigger and clearer view at home.

As shown in the photo, the screen plays a live concert, filling the view with the stage and the crowd.

What makes it work:

  • Bigger 4K picture: A 32 inch 4K UHD panel, up from the 27 inch QHD StanbyME 2, brings more size and detail to concerts, films, and shows.
  • Cinematic color: Dolby Vision, HDR10, and Filmmaker Mode render color and contrast as intended for a lifelike view.

Tip: Set Filmmaker Mode for films and concerts to keep color and contrast as intended.

Q&A:

Q: How much sharper is the picture than the StanbyME 2?

A: The 32 inch 4K panel holds over 8 million pixels, more than the 27 inch QHD StanbyME 2, and AI 4K upscaling lifts lower resolution sources.

Real impressions and reactions from the StanbyME 2 Max users:

“I usually enjoy concert videos and music content, and thanks to the 32 inch large screen and the clear 4K picture, I could feel a vivid sense of immersion at home, as if I were at the venue.” (Link)

Anyone can put this wireless TV together without help

I received this product for free from LG as part of a promotional event. While I was asked to share my review, all opinions are entirely my own.

When I got the LG StanbyME 2 at my door, it was heavier than I expected it to be for a 27-inch screen TV, so definitely prepare to lift carefully! It seems the extra weight is from the stand base, which makes sense that it's heavy, so the TV doesn't tip over.

https://preview.redd.it/q84yy6k261jh1.png?width=738&format=png&auto=webp&s=ea78e3f777dbdf090fd5d2c7be28107addb6004d

When I opened the box, I felt everything was packaged well with two layers of styrofoam. In addition to standard cables and a remote, I was pleasantly surprised that they included a smart tablet cover that also doubles as a tablet stand.

Assembling everything was quick and painfree! It only took about 15 minutes to put everything together since I only needed to tighten 4 screws in total for the entire assembly. One aspect that was really unique is that the instructions had us reuse the styrofoam in the box to help with holding the base while tightening the screws to the StanbyME arm. I'm glad that they added this tip because it saved me a huge headache of holding the two parts together manually.

One part that I didn't like was that I noticed that the quick start guide doesn't have any words. On the plus side, it helps keep things simple and easy-to-follow, but on the other hand, one of the steps was to place these plastic feet on the base. I thought it was a required step, but after I put them on, I found out that these plastic feet were to keep the StanbyME in place instead of using the rollers on the bottom, which was something that I did not want.

Overall, I was impressed at how straightforward and simple it was to put everything together! I'm confident that anyone can set up their LG StanbyMe 2 by themselves.

What wireless TVs are rated best for design and aesthetics as an art display for a gallery wall?

A large panel on a wall can double as a canvas when it is not streaming. The StanbyME 2 Max shows detailed artwork across its 32 inch screen, so it stands in for a framed piece and sets a gallery mood in the room.

As shown in the photo, the screen displays a vivid painting on its stand, turning the wall into a gallery view.

What makes it work:

  • Artwork on a larger canvas: LG Gallery+, arriving on the StanbyME lineup for the first time, shows detailed artworks across the 32 inch panel, up from the 27 inch StanbyME 2, for a gallery look.
  • Moves where the wall needs it: The wheeled stand places the screen against any wall and rolls it aside when the space changes, with no mount to install.

Tip: Rotate through a few artworks in LG Gallery+ so the gallery wall changes with the room.

Q&A:

Q: Can it hold a gallery look away from an outlet?

A: The 144Wh battery supports up to 4.5 hours of wireless use, up from up to 4 hours on the StanbyME 2, so the screen keeps an artwork on display where there is no outlet nearby.

Real impressions and reactions from the StanbyME 2 Max users:

“When I am not watching TV, I even want to hang it up like a framed picture and I am thinking about where to put it. The sound is good and the picture is of course great.” (Link)

First impressions with the StanbyME 2 after 48 hours with a wireless TV: assembly, webOS setup, and using it for meal prep

Quick heads up: I received this product for free from LG as part of a promotional event. While I was asked to share my review, all opinions are entirely my own.

I’ve had the new LG StanbyME 2 for about 48 hours now. I wanted to share my initial thoughts and break down how it’s been fitting into my daily routine so far.

📦 Unboxing & Assembly

The Packaging: The box was definitely larger than I expected, but thankfully it was easy enough to move with one person!

https://preview.redd.it/hrehwjtg41gh1.png?width=645&format=png&auto=webp&s=11f53003b429f0aeacc010515c25077dbebbeddd

The Build Process: I generally dislike unboxing large electronics - there tends to be a ton of excess plastic packaging, scattered components, and hit-or-miss instructions. With the StanbyME 2, however, LG seems to have done a pretty good job.

Clever Design: I really liked that the styrofoam packaging was designed in a way that let you slot the heavy base right into the foam during the stand assembly process. Because of that, total assembly time was less than ten minutes for me.

https://preview.redd.it/4v0tdutg41gh1.png?width=645&format=png&auto=webp&s=f1c7ce7c563d51fcb1f14a70b8556343a8186f49

📺 First Impressions & Hardware

The Base: My very first impression was actually how premium the base feels. I was expecting something fairly lightweight and was worried it might flip over easily, but to my pleasant surprise, it’s heavy and sturdy. As a cat dad, I deeply appreciate not having to worry about them knocking it down when they’re tussling around the house.

The Arm: Super convenient. I love that you can easily rotate the screen and swivel it around. The arm also charges the device through a detachable power cable, so you don’t need to plug into the screen directly - it plugs right into the base and routes power up, which is extremely convenient.

The one downside: I do wish the arm had more height adjustment. Being able to bring it up another 5-6 inches higher would be useful for my setup; my dining chairs are just a tad too tall and block part of the screen, so I have to move a chair out of the way to make room for it.

The Display: It’s very bright and vibrant with a nice matte finish, making it great for bright spaces. The 1440p resolution is very crisp for watching content. For the price point, I do wish it was an OLED with a 120Hz refresh rate, but as far as IPS displays go, this is a great one. Most users won't need more than 60Hz for this use case anyway.

The Sound: Pretty solid. It's definitely louder than I expected from a screen this size. It’s not quite as vibrant as my standalone Bluetooth speakers (likely because the speakers fire from the sides rather than the front), but they are more than adequate overall and easily beat out every other 27” screen with built-in speakers I’ve listened to.

Portability: The unit can be detached and used like a standalone tablet or picture frame, and it even comes with a convenient folio case. Personally, I vastly prefer keeping it on the swivel stand so I can wheel it around.

⚙️ Software Setup & WebOS

The Setup Hassle: This part was a bit of a pain. I also own an LG C3 and generally like WebOS as a platform, but the setup instructions here were... difficult. I’m not a fan of the LG ThinQ app. When I tried to set up the TV using the app, I ran into immediate network connection issues (despite the TV giving me an option to pair without connecting to the internet first). I ended up needing to cancel the setup, go back to the main menu, manually connect to the WiFi on the TV itself, and then finish up with the app. (Thankfully the app isn't strictly required, so this won’t be a universal experience).

Daily OS Use: Once past setup, WebOS shines. I think it’s the best TV operating system overall compared to Fire TV, Tizen, Android TV, and Roku. Navigating with both the included remote and the touchscreen is seamless, though I definitely prefer the remote. It’s not as ubiquitous as Android in tablet mode, but WebOS is vastly superior and far simpler for remote use as a TV OS.

Features & Bloatware: I love that Google Cast is built-in; I use it all the time on my C3 and plan to keep using it here. My one complaint: it came pre-installed with quite a few sponsored games taking up a good chunk of the home menu, requiring me to manually rearrange my apps right out of the gate. For a premium, pricey device, those games shouldn't be there—or at least let us opt out during setup.

🍳 Meal Prep & Dinner Time (Where it Shines)

For me, this is where the StanbyME 2 really earns its keep. The wheels on the base are super smooth, making navigating between the kitchen and the dining table a breeze. Usually, I have to awkwardly prop up my phone while cooking or eating, but now I have an actual portable TV with me.

I’m trying out new recipes recently (my wife is pregnant, so I’m making healthy meals for her every night!), and I took the device out for a spin to try a new cast iron chicken breast recipe. I think it came out pretty well ;)

Tonight, I put on some nice background music while eating dinner and reading a book. My cat approves!

⚖️ The Verdict

Pros:
Bright and vivid IPS screen with a matte finish for bright rooms
Simple and intuitive everyday navigation
Very premium, sturdy build that blends into the room and looks great
WebOS is an excellent operating system for TV usage
Google Cast built right in
Solid built-in speaker quality
Interchangeable between tablet and TV modes
Super smooth wheels built into the base for easy kitchen-to-dining-room transitions
Wife and cat approved 💁‍♀️😸

Cons:
Sponsored games pre-installed out of the box
Companion ThinQ app is clunky to deal with
Display could be OLED / higher refresh rate for the premium price tag
Wish the speakers were front-firing instead of side-firing
Could use a few more inches of vertical height adjustment

Overall: In the first 48 hours, I’ve found myself using this device way more often than expected. It is incredibly convenient to have a quality screen that rolls around with you into spaces like the kitchen. I plan on testing it heavily over the coming weeks and will post a long-term update soon! Feel free to ask any questions.

Which wireless TVs come with advanced smart features and work as a movable second screen?

A home office needs screens that adapt to the day. The StanbyME 2 Max rolls up beside a desk as a second screen for references, calls, or a webOS app, then moves aside when the work is done.

As shown in the photo, the screen fits into a minimal home office beside the desk, ready to serve as an extra display.

What makes it work:

  • Sharp text on a bigger panel: A 32 inch 4K UHD screen with the 3rd generation Alpha 8 AI Processor, sharper than the 27 inch QHD StanbyME 2, keeps text and fine detail crisp for documents and browsing.
  • Adjustable for the task: The screen tilts, swivels, and rotates between landscape and portrait, so a long document or a wide reference view sits at the right angle.

Tip: Cast a laptop to the screen for calls or references, and rotate to portrait for long documents.

Q&A:

Q: Can a laptop connect with a cable instead of mirroring?

A: Yes. USB Type C and HDMI connect a laptop directly.

Real impressions and reactions from the StanbyME 2 Max users:

“Having two USB Type C ports feels like a big improvement to me, because the screen can run without HDMI while charging from an adapter or a power bank at the same time.” (Link)
