Forced Docking - 4.8.1

Hey Star Citizens,
I have had my fill with the bug ridden docking system, so I just kept at it till I managed to get it working. I wish to share my findings here in the hopes that I may spare you this aggravating experience and hopefully help you manage to dock.

First things first, I was flying a Perseus, then a Idris to the worst place to dock - Levski.
Here I typically never manage to dock and usually my experience is that I get impounded without the ability to reclaim the ship. I had lost my P-8 AR rifles, the new Redline Bundle Flight Suit and of course the mighty Idris itself, a ship that is otherwise close to being immortal, the docking stations do an excellent job at making them vanish for good.

So, here is my findings all listed here.

  1. If you do not get a red text reading "Align" you will not be able to dock.

  2. Approach the docking station with gears down, sometimes this can work, but its not a guarantee.

  3. I find that Lagrange Points (for example Hur-L1 or Cru-L3... etc) as well as Gateway Stations (like Pyro Gateway) typically work more often than Orbital Stations (Like Baijini Point), so if you cannot dock at one of those, try the Lagrange Points or Gateways.

  4. Force Home Base Hangar Request instead of a Docking request by having a smaller ship inside your larger ship, the Mirai Pulse can fit nearly into anything, go to your Home Base, get out of the Pilots seat, enter the Pulse and call the Hangar.
This will open your Home Hangar but note that sometimes you will not be able to refuel and you may not be able to store the ship always, I had some strange things happen when landing into my Home Hanger this way, but its another option you may try.

  5. Spamming Left Alt + N, this sometimes can work.

  6. This one currently works the best for me, I start with the landing gear down and do a docking request, if it fails what I then do next is try to manually align roughly, then fly below the docking collar, cancel the docking request & call for a new docking request.
Then I fly above the docking collar & cancel & request again, then fly below, alternating between flying above and below and cancelling & requesting again with each pass. This method has now worked multiple times for me, but you may end up spending minutes till it finally works. The moment you do not get the red "Align" text, you repeat the cycle till you get it.

  7. I read a post claiming that if you land on one of the outside pads (Perseus can land on these pads), then call the docking request, it could lead to it working. Didn't work for me, but I wanted to include this here as it might work for you.

  8. You can also try calling the docking request via the mobi-glass, go to comms, friends & on the right hand side, you should see "Name of Station" Landing Control, this did not work for me either, but its another way to call the Docking Request.

If all else fails, the only thing remaining option is of course bed logging or reclaiming the ship.

Hopefully one of these methods can work for you, if anyone else has other methods or work-arounds, please post it here as this is one of the most infuriating bugs currently for capital class vessels.

See you guys in the 'Verse o7

🛠️ IRONCLAD / IRONCLAD ASSAULT — COMPLETE WORKAROUND COMPENDIUM

Honesty: I copy and pasted my original Ironclad Workarounds thread from r/StarCitizen into an ai ( copilot) to help organize and arrange the work that the community and I have put into this. I have gone through the following and believe most of this to still be correct and working. If anyone finds any of those dumb little ai mistranslations, or anything that seems off or that no longer works: PLEASE feel free to use the modmail to let me know.

🚨 1. SUFFOCATION / ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE BUGS

Primary Workaround (Most Reliable) — “Full Power‑Down Ritual”

Steps:

  1. Claim a fresh Ironclad or Ironclad Assault.
  2. Enter the body engineering terminals.
  3. Enter the Command Module (CM) engineering terminal.
  4. Sit in the CM pilot seat.
  5. Press Flight Ready.
  6. Ship should now initialize with correct life‑support sync.

Why it works:
Players believe the CM and body initialize life‑support independently and desync unless both are fully powered down before the first Flight Ready.

Source lines:

Secondary Workaround — Remove Helmet After QT

Steps:

  1. After a QT jump, stand up from the CM pilot seat.
  2. Remove your helmet.
  3. Walk through the ship normally.

Notes:

  • Works inconsistently.
  • Must remove helmet before entering over‑pressurized rooms.

Source lines:

Tertiary Workaround — Manually Disable Bugged Rooms

Steps:

  1. Go to engineering terminals.
  2. Open Rooms tab.

Source lines:

Persistence Warning! (This requires a freshly claimed IC/A)

Once the pressure bug “sets in,” it may persist across:

  • storing the ship
  • server hopping
  • full logout

Source lines:

🔌 2. COMMAND MODULE (CM) DISCONNECTING

This is the most common and most destructive Ironclad bug.
Below are all known workarounds, from most to least reliable.

⭐ NEWEST & MOST PROMISING — Remove the CM Quantum Drive

Steps:

  1. Enter the CM.
  2. Remove the Quantum Drive component.
  3. Drop it on the floor.
  4. Fly normally.

Reported results:

  • consecutive jumps with zero CM disconnects.

Source lines:

🧊 “Fresh CM Swap” Workaround (Highly Recommended)

Steps:

  1. Claim Ironclad.
  2. Immediately undock the original CM.
  3. Store the body.
  4. Call up the separate CM from ASOP (the standalone one).
  5. Move it aside.
  6. Call up the body again.
  7. Dock the new CM to the body.
  8. Proceed with normal startup.

Why:
The original CM often spawns with corrupted component states.

Source lines:

🔄 “Power‑Down Before Docking” Workaround

Steps:

  1. Disconnect CM.
  2. Power down all power plants on the body.
  3. Power down CM power plant.

Go to cm pilot’s seat and hit “flight ready”

  1. Redock CM to powered‑down body.
  2. From CM pilot seat → Component Repair MFD → power cycle plants.

Source lines:

🛑 “Coupled Mode QT” Workaround

Purpose: Prevents catastrophic drift when CM disconnects mid‑jump.

Steps:

  1. Fly in Coupled Mode.
  2. When CM disconnects:
    1. Wait for “system migration procedure complete.”
    2. Press T (target).
    3. Press Right‑Alt + N (auto‑dock).

Source lines:

🛏️ Bed‑Log Reset Workaround

Steps:

  1. Go to owner’s quarters.
  2. Bed‑log.
  3. Rejoin server.
  4. CM often becomes dockable again.

Source lines:

🛰️ Wormhole‑Specific Workaround

Steps:

  1. As soon as wormhole pulls you in, disable radar from pilot seat.
  2. Prevents getting thrown out of wormhole

Source lines:

🧭 3. ENGINEERING TERMINAL / POWER SYSTEM DESYNC

If CM engineering terminal is unresponsive:

Use tractor beam stations to adjust power pips.

Steps:

  1. Go to CM tractor beam station.
  2. Adjust power pips there.
  3. Or use the stand‑up tractor terminal in operations deck.

Source lines:

🛏️ 4. “Missing Body” / “Missing CM” Spawns

Cause:

Server swaps sometimes spawn a duplicate placeholder CM and then deletes it, leaving the real CM undocked.

Workaround:

  • Expect to redock after server swap.
  • If CM refuses to dock:
    • Fly CM to nearest station.
    • Claim a new CM.
    • Return and dock normally.

Tiburon Laser

The problem is not related to the server, nor the laser itself

The problem is target wise

Meaning, the laser will always work on some part of some ships

To know if you are really doing damage, you must hear the sound of hitmarker, do not trust the hitmarker itself

If you hear the sound of hitmarker, you are actually hitting the ship (either shield or hull)

Now, you need to find the parts of the ships that allows to be hit

Here is a non-exhaustive list of what I found:

  • Constellation: Top part near the middle of the ship. Engines
  • C2/M2: The back, at the fins. Top middle part of the ship
  • A2: Back, right middle engine. Bottom middle of the ship (unlike C2/M2, top is entirely immune)
  • MSR: Top turret
  • Valkyrie: Top turret
  • Reclaimer: Bottom of the ship, near middle
  • 400i: Almost everywhere, top middle is most reliable
  • Carrack: Left Turret. The two big engines
  • Redeemer: Both engines. Most of the hull
  • Paladin: Found none so far, but need further testing

Note: that the damageable part can sometimes be really small (depending on the ship). But once you find one, it will always be damageable

(I will update the list when I get new ships. Maybe some screenshot to where to shoot exactly)

Extra note: if a ship part get red, it means it has a damageable key part on it somewhere. That can help to find the key parts
