Is instant recovery of grenades intended?

Still loving the game and the combat so far (except those annoying spitting critters, we all hate them - in a good way). This is something I've noticed though, thats somehow OP with goliaths.

They basically instantly recharge your grenades. Of course, this could be a reward for smart thinking. On the other hand, it makes them too weak. So maybe grenades should not be charged up by dealing damage on their explosion.

Also, it is quite easy to circle them closerange and shoot their backs (try it on 3-5m). They should have a stomp that deals damage within close vicinity - unless you mean to keep them "big, lethal but stupid" to make the combat less challenging. :)

I hope you enjoyed this slaughter btw. ;)

PS: I posted earlier on this sub, now I'm at 45h. Can't get enough of this game, I'll reach the end soon I suppose. Much love to the devs! ♥

Multi-player map discovery

This needs to be a thing.. it's annoying that a friend of mine can go adventuring while I'm building the base up to deliver the parts and I can't see what he's seen on the map.

How does one get into/out of the caves covered in vines?

I managed to get in but had to respawn myself cause I was stuck inside.
Also I’m only a few hours in so any tips are appreciated!

Lag option

Hello! In brief the game uses less than half the ram, CPU, gpu I have on my system but I'm still getting lag spikes pretty hard now that I'm half way through the tech tree. Is there a fix or is there a way to force it to take more of my computers resources to smooth it out?. It weird because I get the same lag if I'm in single player that I have in multiplayer where I'm hosting and my friend is in another area, the lag doesn't get worse.

Any advice would be great, cheers!

3080ti (old I know but should be fine with med graphics), i712700kf, 64gb ddr4.

Controls lock up in combat ?

I'm finding my keyboard and mouse stop responding for about 3/4 of a second in combat. But only in combat ? I lowered the graphics preset from Epic to High but that made no difference.
This happens whether or not I'm near a base.

Are there any known solutions ?
I have four factories of a total of about 90 machines, and 15 base cores and habitats across the map
Appreciated as always :)

My wishlist for the game (25h in)

I am absolutely in love with this game and feel like the perfect target group for it (I played Factorio, Satisfactory and Death Stranding). There are so many great things about it (visuals, world, score, building system, pacing, ...). And I see so much potential, which is why I've decided to share my ideas with you and the devs. I don't have many hours yet (distributed across a sp and mp map) and probably only know about 30% of the content. Still, here's my priority wishlist and some "hot takes".

High priority

  • option for easier multirail to multirail connections (not having to connect every single rail)
  • "I'm stuck"-function (useful when sliding in between two rocks and "falling forever"), only fix I've found is reloading the game
  • storage vicinity recognition -> everything within the shelter is one inventory for easier crafting (other games have done that well, e.g. Death Stranding, I think Fallout 4?)
  • better "object touches ground"-recognition (especially on "hollow" boulders up in the mountains)
  • Option to recycle or transfer all items of a type or material + hotkey for faster recycling confirmation (right now you have to double click every item and then click the button for recycling -> safe, but tedious)
  • Copy-Paste mode for production and storage facilities (-> Factorio; the facilities should automatically be set up for the last item that was chosen or there must be a selection-copy-paste function)
  • enable more map options (ziplines, basecore names, energy distribution -> see Factorio); for caves and non-disapperaing icons a "visited" status would be helpful

Low priority

  • ingame notepad for reminders and less mental load (i'm using the chat right now)
  • fix issue that containers are not named anymore when rejoining a mp lobby
  • fix issue that 1st rupture warning is (sometimes) only displayed for host
  • compass on top of screen (many games have that) or in-hand/on arm for easier navigation
  • add a "picture mode" for the drone (no hud)
  • Tease mid- or lategame content such as new enemies in early game to keep players engaged/excited

Hot Takes

  • Hard mode (finite resources, structures need repair after time, timer for finishing tasks, penalty for failing in time)
  • Cultists of the Rupture -> deserters (ex workers/convicts) that went rogue/survivalists and praise the rupture of the star, their philosophy is "everything must be renewed" and thus try to have your factory destroyed by the star rupture (manipulating basecore, ...); idea is inspired by Death Stranding
  • Cold War -> The five cooperations each send their teams to the planet (this already happened), but now compete to get something done. You choose a team to compete with against the others (I don't think pvp, more coop pve against bots like Anno)
  • Bigger lobbies -> we won't see 256 players like Factorio, but imagine 20 or so! The fun, the chaos, the profits for the corpos

I am especially interested in what the community thinks about my hot takes. I would LOVE to see them in the game (as an optional feature). Please don't spoil late-game content if possible. Enjoy and have a great day!

EDIT: More ideas, lol.

Idea to fix stability

While the stability system is good in theory, to prevent people from just building floating factories, building with it quickly turns into an exercise in frustration as you need to place supports for things that aren't there yet, and then hope that you have enough and they're all at the right level otherwise you need to disassemble the top layer and keep going. And when placing rows of machines, if there's a change in elevation you either need to offset as you go, which looks ugly, or disassemble everything and rebuild.

I propose the following: You can place machines/floors without worrying about stability, but they won't be powered/usable until you provide enough stability after the fact. That way you can place what you want where you want it to end up and backfill as needed.

StarRupture - Base Building Basics: Part 2

Hi everyone!

We’re inviting you to see the second part of our Base Buildings Video, which will shed more light on slightly more advanced mechanics.

If you’ve missed the first part of our guide, go check it out on YouTube, and then come back here quickly for the next dose of factory-building knowledge.

Knowing the following mechanics will advance you from a rookie builder to a pro factory architect:

  • The principles of building stability
  • Drone Smart Path system - aka how drones find their way
  • Drones priority and how to make the best use of it
  • Upgrading Drone Rails - did you know that you don’t need to deconstruct slower Drone Rails in order to upgrade them?
  • Deconstructing the entire Base - one click solution gets you covered!
  • A word on the Higher Tier Buildings and how to unlock them
  • Tips on Quartz and how to get it

What’s your favorite base-building tip from the video? Or maybe you have some extra tips to share with the community?

Until the next one,
Creepy Jar Team

Cancel ongoing craft

Is there anyway to stop a fabricator , furnace etc to stop crafting ? for example i recently started a new session .. i got tubes to send off ..those are finished but i still got a fabricator filled with tubes and i know once i take them out the game will start pumping out materials to make tubes again ... is there a way that i can just walk to the fabricator and make it stop producing?

80 hours in, my thoughts so far

  • I am still enjoying creating the factory
  • I like that there is a triple and quintuple rail pole - but there is no easy way to connect all the rails at once to send anything remotely long distance
  • For a game that forces you to spread manufacturing around a map - the inability to annotate a map or to even see the names of your Base Cores (why else can you even rename them?) on the map is exceedingly punishing. I have brain fog and I can't remember where everything is being built. As such I've completely build Turbines and Reinforced Housings twice. But that's not so bad
  • The meteor heart, ignitium and quartz mining gets really freaking tedious. Why aren't any of the parts we are manufacturing capable of upgrading our Mining Lazer to be more effective? The base cores need so many - and the quartz underground caves become bland repetition after the first twenty of them
  • I don't know what I'm doing wrong but the auto-save now pauses the game for a full 10 seconds
  • The food tech tree seems really unbalanced. I stayed using only the very first tier of calories and water.... then leapt to the max tier. Starstears are seemingly rarer than Grubblers. There's almost too much variation in foods and there's too much scrolling up and down involved in the machine (the scroll bar is so extremely narrow it's hard to reliably grab for faster scrolling)
  • Because you can't make notes on the map - exploration becomes a baffling game of "Oh, I have been here before", and I had to turn to spoilers to get a couple of blueprints because just organically searching for them wasted so much time. We need earlier lore/story reasons and prompts that send us into particular directions
  • I like that the research credits are plentiful - I just bought the Petroleum and Refinery unlock outright as I had so much saved up: that did actually feel rewarding
  • LEMs should merge and upgrade.... like three or five budget ones become an intermediate one. They start to fill up your storage space pretty quick

Looking forward to all that is coming <3 thanks

Is there a mod to recover unreachable bodies?

Has anyone written a mod that will allow you to recover bodies that were lost due to load errors. I have about 6 bodies scattered around the map that are unreachable. On at least a couple I appeared to be falling through the map when I "died" I would like to be able to recover their contents.
