what is the full game like now that it's out of early access?

I played a bit on my pc... I enjoyed the game but I had to have graphics on the lowest setting and stuff. Decided to stop playing and wait for full release. Have there been changes? like more voice acting? events etc. Has romance improved? I remember the characters being pretty lifeless... so even if there's a BIT more to them, I'd be happy to give it a chance on ps5.

Summer Beach Festival is hot, a hot mess that is.

Firstly, WHERE is the voice acting, nothing has changed.
It’s Beach Festival Day, Zerine is hammering noisily in the air, the jet ski race began but no jet skis, everything is missing , all the booths, even the hermit crabs we are supposed to wrangle are missing. I’m on PC.

Debating

Hello! I only have a switch 2 and a sucker for farming/life sims. I read all the reviews for the port. However i love the concept of the game and hope the relationships and such gets fleshed out over time I do want to support the game it looks utterly adorable and the concept is adorable as heckins.

For those who are playing it still on the switch 2 what keeps you going ? I really want to pick it up to support the game in hopes it improves over time i can see myself playing forever to be honest.

Have the developers said anything?

With all the negative reviews on performance, optimization, etc for the full release today, have the developers put out a statement? This is honestly insane for a full game release and such a huge disappointment to so many people. It screams laziness on the developers, and honestly, they should have never released early access when they did and waited to release the 1.0. This game needs so much work to even be playable, it’s wild. I’m very curious to see if the developers have said ANYTHING or even acknowledged the issues.

Genuinely don’t understand all of the hate for this game. It’s one of my favorite games ever.

I found Starsand island a few months ago for free on Gamepass. So I have been playing on Xbox, and from the start I have absolutely loved this game.

The quest lines are really interesting (breeding colorful sheep?! I love it), the world is absolutely gorgeous, the building is a lot of fun (roofs are tricky but otherwise it’s not bad), the NPCs are adorable, the "questing" in the caves is great, the crafting system is really intricate. The freedom to farm and build anywhere you want is amazing. The days fly by in Starsand Island for me.

I have played over 3000+ hours of animal crossing new horizons, stardew valley, sims, etc etc. In addition to tons of other RP games (baldurs gate) I’m a cozy game girl. So I have plenty of games to compare this to and I have nothing but love for this game.

Imagine my shock when I joined the subreddit, thinking I’d see fun discussions or home builds and it’s actually just non stop complaining!

I will say, I really don’t care about dating NPCs or the romance aspect of any game, ever. So maybe that’s really a big issue for some people? Idk. Yes sometimes building gets a little laggy but I’ve generally had no issues besides that and it’s as simple as closing it out and reloading. But anyway- if you love this game, what do you love most about it?!What have you built that you’re proud of?

Edit - laughing at all of the “Good for you’s” in these comments. Let people enjoy things and go find another post to complain on!

Is there any information about Aiko?

Hi, I started playing this game recently, literally today, and I came across Aiko, who looks quite different from everyone else.

Does anyone know anything about this NPC? I encountered her while I was wandering around. I think she might be the only non-human character, but I can't find any information about her.

When you talk to her for the first time, she says something about having met you before or feeling nostalgic about the past. Is there perhaps an important story connected to that?

Is she romanceable? I truly like this type of characters.

1.0 Launch Day for Switch 2 🙁 huge disappointment (refunded)

SUPER long post for those who feel like reading! :)

For context, I have a Switch 2, a PS5, and a Steam Deck - I dont have a PC so when i saw the announcement that Starsand Island was going to release a console port at the end of the summer with 1.0 I was pumped! I knew right away I was going to get it on Switch 2 so I could get the best of both with handheld and docked. All the trailers and gameplay i saw looked great so I set a reminder on my phone and excitedly waited for release day.

I knew the game was in Early Access for awhile so I expected it to be more polished and ready for console release. I also saw people had some performance issues during Early Access, but I figured as someone who has played quite a few Early Access games on Steam it's normal in the early stages for developers to see what works/ what doesn't and work on fixing the issues prior to full release with better optimization and more content. I had actually tried to play this on Steam Deck in early access but with the performance issues making it not playable, I returned it and figured I would just be patient and wait for the full release.

Fast forward to this morning: I woke up early, bought the game on the Nintendo Store, got it downloaded and ready to go and man.... I've never been this disappointed about a game EVER.

The game suffers heavily from pop ins, frame rate issues, heavy lag/delay, so. many. bugs. And the worst part of it was the game was consistently crashing, making it unplayable and overall a horrible experience. And this wasn't deep in the game either, this was in the first 5-10 minutes and just didn't improve no matter what i tried to do. The nonstop pop-ins almost made me feel like i was getting motion sickness. I did expect the longer load screens (probably about 1 minute long each time), but I couldn't even get to the options menu to try to see if there was a performance/quality mode adjuster because the "start" button just wouldn't register (found out there's a bug effecting the menu too).

After about the 5th time the game crashed in the first 30 minutes of trying to play the game, I gave up and went on a deep dive - found articles and went on youtube to watched some streamers doing play throughs and discovered pretty quickly this game was hardly playable on Switch. I thought "oh maybe i should get it on my PS5 instead". Others are saying it's better but still rough quality on even the PS5 Pro, Xbox too. The better quality of the list was PC, but that wasn't an option for me.

So what did i do? Well I knew it was a long shot because I know how strict they are about their policy on returns, but after explaining the issues with Nintendo Support chat and how the game is genuinely not playable due to the game constantly crashing, they were able to issue me a refund for the game. I will say they did try to tell me I should have went on Nintendo.com and looked up "info on compatible play modes, the ESRB rating, and game play descriptions and reviews on other sites before making purchases in the future" LMAO they can miss me with that but my response was simple -

"This game was fully released today, available on the Nintendo store for $40 as a verified Switch 2 release... that communicates to the customer the game they are paying for is optimized for the Switch 2. This game is not."

So.. my refund is being processed.

Overall (in my opinion) - There's no excuse for a full console release coming out of early access for the public to buy on every device available to beTHIS bad. This is not to say this is on Nintendo, i have no idea if it's free reign for developers to slap a Switch 2 label on games with no verification by the company in place that it actually works. But I've played the Cyberpunk port on Switch 2, Im confident that this console can handle Starsand Island so it isn't a performance issue for the console in my opinion. To me, this is on the developers for pushing a half baked game on all consoles without thorough playtesting to ensure the quality matches and justifies what we're paying for. Looking at some feedback from those who played Early Access on PC the content did not change much with "lack of content and feels incomplete" this is not a new feeling when it comes to games now a days. We're getting some $60-$70 games that are partially complete at full release so they can give us paid DLC on top if we want a full game.

I have never made a Reddit post or review like this before for a game in my life but this is just my personal experience (Please be kind:) . Some may have better (or worse) experience than me. I generally do a ton of research and wait to see others reviews before buying... but I guess I was just hopeful that if a developer does a full release for a console and advertises it to work... then it works.

Character Customization.

Am I the only one who expected more customization in the character creation menu like new clothes and hairstyles?

Nothing worth coming back for tbh

Jus went into my world after the update. Nothing new apart from some weird fox girl in front of my house. No new blueprints, no new outfits, seeds. Big letdown tbh. Still lagspikes on xbox

Refund request denied. Oh well.

Live and learn I guess, thats 40 dollars I'm never getting back.

I had around 10 hours in early access when I bought it on initial release. Above steams 2 hour refund policy, so it isn't a fault of steam. Just my poor financial decisions and hope for improvement.

I'm just making a post to vent my frustrations with the disappointing 1.0 release. I really want to force myself to like this game but I don't know if I can. Anyone wanna commiserate or have any tips to enjoy it anyway?

the game looks really bad on a ps5 pro..

so I was looking forward to the game, I immediately bought it when it released. I have tried it on pc before and the graphics on my console equal really low settings or at least resolution on a pc. The game runs at 60 fps with a lot of screen tearing. Any chance they‘ll fix this?

and this is on quality mode on a 4k monitor. its just a blurry mess :(

Advice on a Refund?

So my wife got me this game for my birthday back in February when it was in early access. I was busy with work and other games at the time and didn't play it much and forgot about it until just recently with 1.0 coming out today. I then saw a bunch of people claiming AI was not disclosed, it's buggy and glitchy, and the romance isn't what is to be expected. We don't support AI in this household and I felt lied to; if there was an AI disclaimer back then I wouldn't have wish listed for it. Think I could get her money back even though it's been 6 months but no hours of play time?

How does multiplayer work? I'm trying to get it to work with my brother.

I can't find anything about multiplayer. Only that eventually you need to set a password for your island or you can just invite friends?

Veteran players thoughts on the update.

So, I love the game, and have hundreds of hours into it. I own all the different properties, hundreds of animals, and a full garden of immortal seeds. What I haven’t done is follow through with relationships. I have full stars on most of the ones you can get by fulfilling quests, but not any of the others. My priorities were farm animals and adopting all of the adoptables, lol.

So anyway, I want to hear from those who already have hours in, who jump back in with or without making a new save. I’m not planning on making a new one, but am hoping I can take advantage of any new updates. I’m not sure if the game will lead me to the new people or new animals, but I am about to jump in and find out!! 😂
