Recommendations for a Still Game Recipe Book
I’m going to compile a Still Game-themed recipe book for my wife as a present. Obviously beefy bake will be in there, and tattie scones. What else should I include? Bonus gratitude if you include a relevant quote tied to the recipe. What do you got?
Boabys porn tape
Visiting Glasgow from Canada. Just walked up the stairs out of Buchanan station and realized that's Boaby's porn tape back drop. Thanks Shug! Going for a rest in a posturpedic.
Anyone feel the Pie episode should have been about a painting in a charity shop instead?
I think if any episode shows that they had run out of ideas or any sense of believability it was Pie. The whole town rioting and punching everyone over a pie that turns out to be made of plastic. Honestly who didn't see that coming? For this to work you have to assume no one can feel by the weight or the temperature that its plastic.
Also isn't this just a rip off the cake that has a spider in it? Not to mention the Beefy Bake episode had this idea 100 times better.
Now I get SG isn't Shawshank Redemption, but it’s also not Paul Blart Mall Cop. There has to be some realism to it. No one is going to go nuts over a pie unless they are Peter Griffin.
But I think the premise of everyone going mad over a McGuffin that turns out to be worthless could work. If the plot was say, J&V become convinced that a painting in a charity shop is actually worth millions. Since every so often there will be a story in the newspaper about a valuable painting being bought in a charity shop for £50. That way it makes sense for everyone to keep trying to steal it off everyone else. A game of capture the flag.
Everyone running riot over a painting they think is a Van Gogh or a Jackson Pollock is buyable because who don't want to become a millionaire overnight? It could even be painting they was done by a certain Austrian artist (that would be extra funny, but I can easily see the beeb censoring that tbf).
If we have to turn SG into a mindless screaming cartoon, can it at least be on the level of the Simpsons rather than Family Guy?
This episode has so many contrivances. Like why does Peggy give the pie to Methadone Mick? When in every other episode she is greedy selfish and rude? Because Ford and Hemphill need to run out that clock that's why. Honestly this feels like it’s a plot from something like River City of East Enders you know shows that have like 50 episodes a year.
Just been in this store, the prices were astronomical and the owner tried charging me £2 for a carrier bag… the tight fisted git.

Still Game on Prime! That’s tonight sorted.
Well, I’m chuffed tae bits!
Just found out Still Game’s on Prime.
Pure magic!
How long’s it been on there then? Don’t tell me it’s been months and I’m only finding out now.
The series ranking is over, now what?
(Reupload)
My two month journey with the show to decide my favourite episode is done, and I am mostly satisfied with all the points I said. However, I do have a couple more ideas I’m interested in that I think would be fun. They wouldn’t be a series like the episode reviews, it would be just one big ranking. I don’t want it to seem like I’m milking my ranking for all their worth so I thought I’d see what you lot would like to hear:
Shug meets the Beatles 1964
This clip is more famous online because fans allege McCartney is covering up his strauner throughout. Also it’s not the easiest watch as it keeps cutting out as not all the footage is available. However persist through those distractions and Still Game fans will be rewarded with the sight of a very ‘young’ Paul Young AKA Shug the Lug interviewing George and Ringo

I modified a couple rankings and gave a few episodes some more or less points depending on how they stacked up against one another, but mostly I’m happy sticking with my guns on my initial rankings. The top 3 was such a close race and I went back and forth on what my number 1 was between Oot and Lights Out several times up until today, but I’m happy with this as my final locked in ranking.
Every season ranked*:
Season 3 (8.8)
Season 2 (8.3)
Season 5 (8.2)
Season 4 (7.9)
Season 6 (7.6)
Season 1 (7.56)
Season 7 (6.1)
Season 9 (6)
Season 8 (5.1)
*Going off my initial scores for each episodes
Best after credits scene: Winston kicks his leg out the window (Drama)
Best scene: Archie’s monologue (Oot)
Best gag: Jack and Victor play Operation in the dark (Lights Out)
I guess that’s it. Well this has been a fantastic experience, after going on a two month binge of this show I definitely have a newfound appreciation for how it progressed over time. I may do more posts that go over my retrospective thoughts on the show (if you all would like it I considered a character ranking among some other things), but I feel happy as this being my bookend on the series. Nothing left to say expect, that’s plenty.

Is anyone really pleased that there no Doctor Who jokes or refferences in Oot?
As a Whovian, I am so pleased that Keirnan and Hemphill resisted the temptation to dump a bunch of Dr Who jokes in Oot. It would have been so easy for someone to say thing like 'His flat/the Clansman, it looks bigger on the inside' or 'I see a fly. Go and exterminate it' or 'its a mirocwave, Archie it heats food, its not exactly reversing the polarity of the nutron flow'.
No one calls Archie 'Professor' and he don't say 'I am far more than just another pensioner'. Archie never calls anyone 'Ace'. Nor when they meet him dose anyone say something like 'you look like you have seen a Ghostlight', his flat isn't called 'Paradise Towers'.
Or 'I have been trapped in here like Fenric/Fenris/Fenrir'. The latter might have been tolerable, since it doubles as a Norse Mythology joke/refference.
They let Percy Kent-Smith play Archie, not Dr What Inside joke. I always hate it when they bring in a celeb to pay themselves/a character from a different TV show/movie. Rather than a character who works in the show's universe.
