Parents’ Canada Visitor Visa from India – Looking for Guidance

Hi everyone,
I’m a Canadian Permanent Resident and I’d like to invite my parents to visit me in Canada. They both live in India and have never applied for a Canadian visitor visa before.
I’m looking for guidance from anyone who has recently gone through this process.
A few questions I have:

  1. Should I apply for both of them together or submit separate applications?
  2. What documents should I provide from Canada (invitation letter, PR card, employment letter, bank statements, etc.)?
  3. What documents should my parents provide from India?
  4. How can we best show strong ties to India to improve their chances of approval?
  5. Is it better for them to show that they’ll pay for the trip themselves, or can I sponsor their visit?
  6. Are there any common mistakes I should avoid?
If anyone has applied recently from India, how long did the process take?

I’d really appreciate any tips, document checklists, or personal experiences.
Thank you!

Super visa - Host income sufficient?

Need some genuine advice from people who have successfully had a Super Visa approved for their parents.

I'm an only child, and my parents' financial situation isn't very strong. My dad owns a business, but it hasn't been doing well over the past few years, so his recent income tax returns don't reflect much income. My mom is a private tutor.

I want to apply for a Super Visa for them so they can visit me in Canada for a few months. Both have every intention of returning home. One of my mom's biggest reasons to go back is that her only sister passed away due to cancer four years ago, and we also recently lost my grandmother, so my aunt's son (8Y) is now completely alone. I mainly want my mom to come here for a short break and some time to recharge before going back.

My income should meet the requirements to support them, but I'm wondering if there's anything else I can do to strengthen the application. Are there any additional documents or steps that helped your parents get approved?

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who's been in a similar situation. Thanks!

Need advice: Super Visa sponsor recently became self-employed

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some advice about a Super Visa application for my mom.
My brother is sponsoring her. He is a Canadian permanent resident, single, and is sponsoring only our mother.
Here’s our situation:
His most recent NOA shows about $41,000 income from his previous full-time job.
He has since left that job and is now self-employed, working through Uber, DoorDash, and Instacart.
He has been doing this for about one month and is currently earning around $1,200 per week.
We have included:

NOA
T4
Previous employment pay stubs
Recent bank statements showing deposits from Uber/DoorDash/Instacart
Earnings statements from all three platforms
Invitation letter
$100,000 Super Visa insurance (Empire Life)
His PR card
Birth certificate and passport showing our mother’s name as proof of relationship
My concern is that his current self-employment income is not reflected on his latest NOA because he only recently switched from employment.
We’re planning to include a letter explaining the job change and providing proof of his current income.
Has anyone had a Super Visa approved in a similar situation where the sponsor recently became self-employed? Do you think the current income evidence plus the NOA and previous employment history will be sufficient?
I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences or any suggestions for strengthening the application.
Thank you!

Sharing My Somewhat Complicated Super Visa Timeline (2 Applicants) – Using My Parents’ Income to Meet the Financial Requirement

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to share my Super Visa timeline and provide as many details as possible in the hope that it helps someone else. I would consider this a somewhat complicated application, so this post is a bit longer.

Timeline
Country: India
Application Method: IRCC Portal (not GCKey)
Medical: Upfront
Application Submitted: May 24, 2026
Biometric Request (Parent 1): May 24, 2026
Biometric Request (Parent 2): May 25, 2026
Biometrics Submitted & Updated: June 1, 2026
Medical Passed/Updated: June 13, 2026
Final Decision & Passport Request: June 25, 2026
Passport Submitted: TBD
Passport Received: TBD

Biometric Context: Both of my parents already had valid biometrics for about six years. However, I decided to have them provide biometrics again to maximize the Super Visa validity, as the visa validity is generally tied to biometric validity (provided the passport remains valid). Also, it’s quite common for biometric requests to be issued on different days when there are multiple applicants.

Why I Considered This Application Somewhat Complicated
Both parents had previous Canadian visitor visa refusals.
Both parents also had previous U.S. visitor visa refusals.
Both parents are retired (they were previously business owners).

My income shown on my latest Notice of Assessment was approximately CAD 41,000. My actual earnings were over CAD 65,000, but due to business deductions (I’m self-employed), my taxable income was reduced. As a result, I was short by a little over CAD 5,500 to meet the Super Visa income requirement.

Since IRCC now allows applicants to use their parents’ income to meet the remaining income requirement, I decided to take that approach.
Although both of my parents are retired, my father actively trades stocks and earned approximately CAD 8,000 (converted from INR) in taxable investment income. He reported and paid taxes on that income, so I used it to cover the shortfall.

Proof of Funds
I submitted:
Approximately CAD 20,000 from my personal savings account.
Approximately CAD 40,000 from my business account.
Approximately CAD 45,000 from my parents’ bank account.
I intentionally provided significantly more than what was likely necessary because I didn’t want to take any chances.

My Employment & Income
My income for the current year is expected to exceed CAD 60,000, in addition to my business income.
I work both as a self-employed business owner and as a salaried manager in the same business. I included:
Self-employment letters signed by both myself and my business partner.
Recent pay stubs for my salaried position.

Purpose of Visit
Although I’m confident my parents will only stay for a couple of months, I stated a planned stay of 7–9 months for family visits and travel. I have been living alone in Canada for over seven years and haven’t been able to travel home or see them during that time.
To further strengthen the application, I mentioned that my younger brother lives and works in India and continues to live with my parents. This demonstrates strong ties to their home country and supports their intention to return after their visit.

Invitation Letter
I had my invitation letter notarized through NotaryPro as a statutory declaration. A friend of mine did the same for their application, so I decided to do it as well. I’m not sure whether it provides any additional benefit, but I included it anyway.

Medical Insurance (1-Year Monthly Payment Plan)
Purchased through an insurance broker.
Company: Secure Travel (RIMI)
Mother: CAD 1,620.60 (diabetic)
Father: CAD 1,339.55 (no pre-existing medical conditions)

Additional Documentation
One thing I found helpful was creating a short Letter of Explanation as the first page of almost every uploaded document.
For example, under the financial requirement section, the first page summarized:
My previous year’s income in CAD.
My parents’ income in INR, along with the CAD conversion.
A list of all supporting documents attached.
I used the same approach for several other sections to make the application easier for the officer to review.

Proof of Relationship
I used my birth certificate to prove that I am their son. There was a minor spelling difference between my birth certificate and passport, so I also attached my passport. I didn’t provide a separate explanation for the spelling difference—I simply submitted both documents.
My birth certificate is bilingual, with the regional language and English printed on the same document, so I did not provide a separate translation.

If I’m missing any information that anyone would like to know, or if you’d like a complete list of the documents I submitted, feel free to comment or send me a DM.

Thanks!

Super Visa for both parents, recently landed immigrants, family of 5, please sanity-check my profile (income + ties)

We landed as PRs in August 2025 and want to bring both of my parents on a Super Visa. Sharing the full profile because I keep going back and forth on two things: whether our income holds up (we only have a partial first Canadian tax year), and whether the ties are strong enough. Would really appreciate feedback from anyone who has done this recently.

Setup

These are my parents, so I am the host. My own income for the tax year is basically zero, so my spouse is the co-signer and is the one carrying the income.

Family size: 5 (me + spouse + 1 young child + 2 parents we are sponsoring for super visa).

Income / financials (host + co-signer)

  • Spouse 2025 NOA, Line 15000: $65,792. This is the figure that clears the size-5 LICO.
  • Spouse salary: $180k. Will submit an employment letter stating this, pay stubs from Aug 2025 to the month we file, and bank statements showing every pay deposit.
  • 2026 YTD so far: ~$82k, projected ~$100k by the time we file (in August).
  • My 2025 NOA: $220.
  • We landed Aug 2025, so 2025 is only a partial Canadian tax year. In 2024 we were overseas, so there is no Canadian NOA for 2024. Our 2024 income is $150k, but since that's pre-arrival, there is no NOA, but I've CRA's CCB assessment noting that 2024 income as the basis for CCB payments (does that matter and should I attach that?).

Assets (to prove the financial stability of hosts)

  • Spouse: ~$20k chequing, ~$15k TFSA, ~$90k in a non-registered brokerage.
  • Me: ~$15k TFSA, ~$9k in a non-registered brokerage.

Parents' profile + ties (to show they will leave Canada)

  • Pakistani citizens, but they have lived in Turkey since 2021 on a residence permit that renews every year.
  • Two of my brothers and their kids (my parents' grandchildren) live in Turkey. One sister lives in Germany. No immediate family is left in Pakistan.
  • Parents own one property in Pakistan. They do not personally own property or hold a bank account in Turkey, though my brother owns a property in Turkey.
  • Travel history: Pakistan, Turkey, UAE, KSA. Never overstayed anywhere.
  • I plan to show that they will return to Turkey to be with my brothers and grandchildren (their primary residence for the last 4 years), where their day-to-day household and life already are.

What I am unsure about

  1. The 2025 NOA clears LICO but only by about $1.5k, and it is a partial year. Does that matter or as long as I'm above LICO, I should be good on that part?
  2. Are the ties convincing given that the parents' Turkish status is temporary (annual renewal), they own nothing in Turkey themselves, and nobody is left in Pakistan even though they own property there?
  3. Anyone with a similar "just landed, thin first-year NOA, income sitting on the co-signer spouse" profile, approved or refused?
  4. Anything obvious I am missing in the document list (besides insurance, which I know is mandatory and will get one)?

Thanks in advance.

Super visa medical from Turkey (Istanbul)

Does anyone know what the medical costs are from Turkey (Istanbul) for a super visa (age 65)? I emailed the panel physician there, but got no response.

Has anyone successfully claimed Super Visa insurance in Canada? I'm getting nowhere despite providing everything requested.

I amm looking for advice from anyone who has dealt with Super Visa insurance claims in Canada.

I purchased a Super Visa insurance policy for my mother and paid the entire premium upfront. The policy has a $0 deductible, so I expected the claims process to be relatively straightforward if medical treatment was required.

Since February 2026, my mother has had several medical expenses, including:

- Doctor consultation at Appletree Medical Centre

- Prescription medication

- Urinalysis and urine culture

- Ultrasound

- Follow-up doctor appointments

- OBGYN consultations, Pap test, and cervical biopsy

I submitted claims with receipts, doctor's notes, requisitions, invoices, and all supporting documentation.

The insurance company repeatedly requested "complete SOAP notes." I went back to Appletree Medical Centre multiple times and was told that the handwritten SOAP note provided by the physician is the complete medical record available for that visit. The clinic specifically confirmed that no additional notes exist.

The insurance company initially told me the SOAP notes were insufficient, then asked me to sign a consent form so they could obtain records directly from Appletree themselves. I signed the consent form immediately.

On May 1, 2026, they informed me that they had sent a request to Appletree and that it would take 4–6 weeks to receive the records. It is now more than 7 weeks later, and I have received no update.

To make matters worse, some claims have already been closed without any reimbursement. So far, after months of back-and-forth, I have received $0 despite paying the insurance premium in full and providing every document that has been requested.

At this point I feel like I am spending more time chasing paperwork than the insurance company is spending reviewing the claims.

Has anyone experienced something similar with Super Visa insurance? Is this normal? At what point should I escalate the matter to a supervisor, the insurer's ombudsman process, or an external complaint body?

I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has successfully navigated this process or has suggestions on what steps I should take next.

Passport Request - Submit Physically vs Courier

Hi there, I received my mom and dad's passport request today. They did there biometrics at the Kolkata location. Now that they have received the passport request, they would want to submit it at VFS Delhi. Will this be okay? If yes, how does it work and what are the charges? Please help me book the appointment for passport request.

Will it be cheaper to submit in Delhi or Kolkata?
