Hello! I'm Mike Starchuk, running to be your next Mayor. I’m leading a progressive and diverse slate at Imagine Surrey, focused on putting out the fire of last eight years and build Surrey into the City of Champions as BC’s next largest city.

I’ve served Surrey my entire adult life. As a volunteer, career firefighter and former Chief Fire Prevention Officer, as a City Councillor, and as an MLA. I’m a proud father and grandfather, I grew up here and raised my family here. I love Surrey.

I’m running to lower your costs, protect your services, and speed up your commutes. I’ll bring transit fares down, invest in community centres and sidewalks and public washrooms, expand transit, and stop the service cuts proposed by my opponents. My plan will build the city we deserve and lead BC into the future.

Going to be selling my house pretty soon in South Surrey and have no idea where to go for a realtor. Someone knowledgeable in South Surrey/White Rock homes (as we would be buying after we sell, too!) would be an asset. Looking for someone kind and patient who can help us get the house sold. Bonus points for LGBTQ+ and/or friendly.

Does anyone have any personal recommendations? I'd much rather have a personal rec than just a generic review/company/etc.

We moved to Surrey BC few months ago. And were in vancouver before that. I love it here, there's a lot of parks and public spaces, trails etc. Some nice restaurants and its really quiet but not boring. I hear a new hospital is being built and some sort of entertainment arena is being added around cloverdale. A new costco is planned too. Some new construction is going on too in Newton, cloverdale, and south surrey. But I get the sense from this subreddit that people are not really happy with current state of things, like they want a different mayor or something and are generally not satisfied with Surrey. Can some of you who have been here longer, help me understand the context/history am missing.

I'm looking to find out what every elementary school and school mascot is if you're from a school in surrey, could you please write down which mascot your elementary school has? Thank you !!

Example : Sullivan height elementary is steamers

Prince Charles elementary used to be the griffins.

I'm trying to see something it seems our of the 103 elementary schools only a handful have an official mascot.

Hello again everyone. Girl guides will be selling cookies at Scott Road Station 12-4pm this Saturday October 10. They have limited boxes left. We look forward to seeing some of you come out and grab some cookies. Chocolatey Mint are the best ones anyway.

It seems like he is emphasizing that point of his platform less now on interviews. How bad would it be if he did take Surrey out of metro Vancouver board? Does it do anything for Surrey?

Any romantasy girls looking for book friends? 👀
We have a pretty established book club and are looking for some new faces specifically in the Surrey area at the moment.

We’re mostly fantasy/romantasy readers so there’s a lot talk about morally questionable book boyfriends, spice, and yelling at each other about book recs. We do read other stuff too and all book girlies are more than welcome to join.

We meet up in person sometimes to do crafts, brunch, bookish events etc . We do a monthly book and a corresponding online Q&A with that author. Which is honestly so much fun.

We have a few group chats as well so feel free to join into which ever ones you’d like.

Really just looking for girls who want to actually make friends and have people to talk books with 🫶
