Looking for friends! (20F)

I'm returning to Vancouver/Richmond in the beginning of August and would love to make some new girl friends while I'm out there (and hopefully a sustaining friendship until I move there!)

I visited Vancouver for the first time last year and I absolutely loved it! I currently reside in MB but after my schooling I plan to move to BC.

I'm into fashion, thrifting, beauty, fitness, animals, journaling, sewing, and I love outdoors aswell. I would describe myself as an ambivert (extroverted introvert) because I’m usually a quiet, reserved, and private person, but I’m working on networking and stepping outside my comfort zone.

I am pursuing a career in communications, more specifically social media management or creative brand directing. I just finished my 2nd year of uni.

While I'm there, I would love to experience the night life, take pics, go for brunch, browse vintage shops, go on a hike, beach day, or just about anything (I'm pretty adventurous). If you want to know more about me, just ask. Lets be friends!

Edit: Please keep in mind I have never done something like this before 😭 This is genuinely my 3rd time using Reddit. For safety purposes, I'm looking to make friends with only women in my age range (19-23). I'm hoping we can chat, follow each other on social media, and get to know eachother throughout July before eventually meeting in person.

Surrey Centre White Spot closing July 12

Sad to learn this today. This has been around since I was a kid, so at least 30 or 40 years.

The City is Alive at Midnight

After FVDED, some local businesses are still open tonight, for example Kinton Ramen and Panago Pizza, etc.

thoughts on no-pet rentals?

I've been looking at tons of apartments in Surrey, Langley, and Cloverdale to eventually rent and I'm noticing almost all of them have a very strict no-pet policy. I understand landlords might be hesitant because animals are animals but is that not what the security deposit is for? But it's starting to get on my nerves, as someone who doesn't plan to marry or have children and knowing a majority of my friends are in the same boat, all that we really just want in this economy is a one bedroom apartment and a dog or cat for companionship.

I came across a rental unit that didn't list any policy about pets anywhere and when I reached out I mentioned in my introductory email that I am looking for a place that is pet-friendly (I have a senior pom, but eventually would get another similar sized dog). The realtor handling the unit was super rude and responded to my email with "this unit is available ASAP. no pets allowed. so do you still want to view the unit or not?" I was like lol I am good wtf.

I am sure there is way more to it than this (and that not everyone is a dog or cat person) but some of these places have been listed for a WHILE and they're clearly aggressive about wanting someone to sign onto a lease but maybe loosen up some of that strictness about pets. These days most single people are opting for one.

BTW I lived in a different city for a couple years a long time ago in a no-pet unit and it was depressing as hell. One day in the city I came across an abandoned dog that attached itself to me and I spent all night outside with it until animal rescue could take it. I wanted badly to take it home with me (better than being outside with it in the cold) and/or to adopt it and the fact that I didn't even have the option to do so because my landlord was so strict was what made me realize I just can't ever sign into a lease like that again. Still have no idea what ended up happening to that sweet dog.

[bc] Dating ultrasound at west coast medical imaging Surrey or Jim pattison outpatient care

I live very near Surrey Memorial Hospital in Surrey bc. I have a dating ultrasound booked at the city centre branch of west coast medical imaging Surrey and jim pattison outpatient care. I’m wondering if I would be charged by msp because I have the dating ultrasound booked twice in 2 places. Moreover, I’m not sure if the west coast medical imaging at city centre is private or if they charge for ultrasounds.

Bright lights flashing near Holland Park at 2am?

Anyone know what these lights flashing around from 1:30-2am could’ve been? They were extremely bright and varied from yellow to bright white. Looked to be coming from somewhere near Holland Park

Hair salon recommendations

Hi everyone! I’m a mom of 17-month-old twins, and I’m finally ready to cut my hair short because it’s become impossible to maintain with two toddlers 😅
I’m looking for recommendations for a hairstylist or salon in Surrey (or nearby) that’s great with women’s short haircuts. I’d love someone who can suggest a low-maintenance style that still looks flattering and grows out well.
If you’ve had a great experience, I’d really appreciate your recommendations!
Thanks in advance!
