Tiring but what a gain!

After so much time, finally cleared the police station and got lucky and got 2 of them!

Though.. Gotta tow them to the base

Looks pretty good at the base. 😍

How I found out this game does not have cloud save. HAHA.

So yeah. I TRULY ENJOY this game. I have about 25 hours. Super new. Had a base, three cars, some good stuff to survive, fairly good gear. Was cleaning my pc of whatever bloat, dead past files and documents. Ended up doing a clean wipe while keeping the OS. Aha aha aha aha aha. Loaded up the game then tutorial greeted me. HAHA.

My friend also tried lending me his progression file just to make me feel better but the game just gets stuck on the loading screen forever. Anyway to fix this? I did the uninstall and reinstall, verifying files, restart pc, etc. Still the same. If none, I might just start anew if I overcome this sadness. Still my fault though for losing the progression. I got so used to everything I play autosaving. Oh well.

Any mods for placing bandit spawns?

Want to create a new POI with bandits on set patrols and positions. Any mods that add functionality for that?

How do you like to play the game? What is your sweetspot when it comes to difficulty sliders?

I've recently picked up this game and I'm already nearing the 100 hours playtime. I'm obsessed with it and can't wait for future updates!

I've played the game quite a bit, and my first playthrough was on normal difficulty. When I got the hang of the game I decided to do a new run and tailor it to my own personal preference. Because of this I'm really curious to know how you all play the game as well! Are there specific things that you can't play without? Some sliders or options that need to be adjusted? Some self opposed challenges or peculiarities? Etc.

For me personally, I love it when the game is difficult! My sweetspot is on nightmare mode with a few adjustments here and there.

- level scaling off

- Headshot mode on

- zombie health on the lower end (around 0.8) so that I need around 2-4 melee hits to kill your average zombie. But you still one shot them when you pop them in the head with a bullet. (And 1-2 headshots for the stronger infected/irradiated zombies).

- zombie damage increased to 2.5

- melee weapon durability off

- ranged weapon durability loss halved so they last longer.

- industrial/basebuilding loot set to abundant

- equipment loot set to common

- backpacks within backpacks turned off

- vehicle damage halved

- vehicle fuel cost doubled

And finally, a self imposed challenge. I have a bachelor's degree in geography so I disable all map markers so that I need to triangulate my own position! E.g. I need to remember where I died, how to get back there, and always be aware of my surroundings and where I am! I also never use a GPS for that exact same reason! But I do use a compass :D

Building construction

I just started playing this game (about 120-130 hours in and I'm quite hooked) but I have a question: is there a way to prevent zombies from spawning in certain buildings I want to use as bases (for example, the building in the middle of the road where you spawn for the first time) since I had to build my house from scratch.

A surroundead content wishlist

I've been playing this game for quite a bit now and absolutely love it. I love how many settings you have to customize your experience too. I can't wait to see what the future updates will bring us.

With that said, having played some games like Unturned and others, I wanted to share/discuss a bunch of things I'd love to see added or changed. This is purely for the sake of sharing some ideas and of course not as an actual "hey dev please add this!" post. I am aware they are stressed, busy, dealing with issues both technical and nontechnical, and also burnt out. I just want to list some stuff i thought of during my experience :>

  • I love that most buildables are unbreakable, but I expect that to not last. With how Unturned handled it, I hope this will not be done the same way. I hope wood buildings/buildables would be able to be damaged by zombies and bullets, while metal and stone/concrete objects/walls would require explosives to be damaged.
  • Concrete/stone and metal walls/floors/ect... more modular stuff :D
  • I'm not too familiar with random events mechanically, but if there can really be random events, considering there are bandits and bandit camps, maybe random modular bandit bases to raid? (procedurally generated or prefabs, it doesn't matter, both would be fun and would make the map feel a bit more dynamic).
  • Acid zombies are a nice variant that you actually have to look out for, although a change in appearance would be great (maybe growths and such) to make it stand out more.
  • Different tiers of bandits? Current ones are kinda weak. It would be nice to have a stronger, perhaps military-like faction/tier of bandits.
  • Bandits with grenades and such!
  • Raids on your base? Perhaps triggered with something like how we have the horde beacon. or randomly!
  • locked locations and such are nice. I hope there will be more, or some with puzzles instead of keycards (or a mix of both)! Hell, maybe even a secret location requiring you to activate something into a different POI and rush back to the secret before it closes/turn off!
  • More city parkour/rooftop stuff! Climbing around is quite fun and encouraged to do to avoid zombies, pushing it further to give more routes or loot to the characters with that skill would be a nice addition and would encourage exploring more vertically.
  • A sprinter zombie variant that could climb would add a lot more spice to PvZ.
  • Grenades and molotovs feel weak as of now even with the skill (imo), perhaps a setting to change explosive damage could be a nice addition?
  • Farming is another obvious content request. Cooking too. As of now, it's just the campfire, but considering we have generators, maybe an electric stove? more recipes? perhaps berry bushes to brew into different concoctions like rad removal tea or something.
  • More ore nodes or at least another way to get metal. It's very tiring to have to gather tons of knives and empty cans and scrapping guns and such is also inefficient too (and yes i know about car wrecks salvageing).
  • gp is only obtainable through disassembling bullets or random chance when looting, as far as i'm aware. Maybe a sulfur and coal node can add another way of manufacturing that?
  • A trader for buildables would be a lifesaver for certain furnitures and another person to sell my guns to.
  • Useable notes/pencils. Maybe signs, noteclips or post-its you can place around your base. or a custom map you can draw on!
  • More underground content? exploring the subways is fun but repetitive. Perhaps different basements/underground facilities linked together or just close to one another with openings would be a cool exploration experience and would give more uses to the flashlight/NV.
  • Coloring our outfits or transmog them. self explanatory.
  • Ladders that we can place. Also more modular stuff like an upside down triangle wall.
  • An option to "lock" buildables, preventing them from being picked up/moved until unlocked. I accidentally moved my floor when I was sorting my storage and fell to my death.

Let us reorder the container list, and use that order for "Loot All"

You know the top-right icon, the one that opens the list of all your containers?

Right now, that list has some fixed order. I'd like to see up-arrow (▲) and down-arrow (▼) buttons added next to each entry so we can rearrange it ourselves.

The starting 4w × 2t inventory should be part of this list too.

Once containers can be reordered, "Loot All" could follow that same order when it decides where to drop items. Want your loot going into a specific backpack first, then overflow into a second bag? Just drag the containers in the right order.

It's a change, but it'd give a lot more control over loot management without adding any new UI beyond two arrow icons per line.>!Alternatively, the dev could choose to rearrange by drag & drop; if that's more on-theme for them.!<

If you'd want something like this too, upvote and drop a comment.

Any current time set for the next update?

I bought SurrounDead day before yesterday and I haven’t been able to put it down, yet I can’t wait for yet more to do.

I’m still working on finding/getting a base I’m satisfied with down, as well as trying to find and go to all the locations and Bunkers, but I was disappointed I couldn’t upgrade the vehicles. I want a full armored Charger to explore the apocalypse in.

But that got me thinking on what is coming TO the game, I admittedly haven’t been able to find the roadmap but that may be a skill issue on my part, so what is confirmed to be in the works and coming to the game at the moment?

SurrounDead Reddit Rules Update

Happy Friday Everyone! Just a quick announcement regarding the SurrounDead Reddit Rules.

We have recently updated the rules here to be more in-line with the rules across the platforms we use to communicate with the Community. Not too much has changed, but they are a bit more in-depth with regards to the overall theme of each rule, and broken down into more sections due to both character limits and separation of rule themes.

It is everyone's responsibility to be familiar with these Rule changes and understand them.

We are aware that Rules 4 and 6 may seem contradictory, but we do not endorse the idea of suppressing Community Creativity.

  • Rule 6 is designed to be a "bypass" of Rule 4 for Mod Makers ONLY, and must follow the guidelines of being Safe for the users, Publicly available, and hosted on Trusted Services. Any that are found to be unsafe shall result in the actions listed out in the Rule description.
  • Rule 4 is designed to allow approved promotion/advertising through SurrounDead Reddit Mod approval. This is accomplished via contacting the Mods through ModMail.

We hope everyone continues to enjoy the game, and as always, have fun being a part of our Community.
