Shorted component on switch not powering up and not charging

Hi, i was wondering if this is a cap or not as it's shorted. Was should i do? Can i just remove it?

The switch was left uncharged and no power for a long period of time. Upon pressing power button, i got a little red icon battery that mean discharged. Plugged charger and nothing for 4 hours.

How messed up is this switch sd connector?

Will just a wire jumper do or should I replace the connector?

Switch isn’t turning on

I had my switch charging while I made dinner so I could play after. It was at 45%. It’s now showing that error message and I’m really confused. I’m doing what it’s telling me to do! How do I fix this?!

Switch Screen Super Glitched Out And Pixelated

Hi guys! My screen is super grainy and zigzaggy? I know when you take a picture of a screen it looks like that, but it genuinely looks like that in person, the 2nd photo is how my screen looks like when my screen is completely “black” even when I turn off my switch, my screen does that for a split second. It happened while I was waiting for a match to queue up!

(I have a switch 1 its an animal crossing switch if that even matters lol)

[Switch1] won’t turn on and console rail needs replacing

I’ve made a post already but I took my switch to a repair shop and are trying to charge me $200 which is more than I paid for it to fix it so I wanna do it myself. I’ve ordered the parts and tools to replace the rail but a few days after having that issue it stopped turning on completely. I’m theorizing that it’s because it overheated or smth. Will I have to replace the battery or is it something to do with thermal paste? I’m still waiting on them to ship me back my switch and I don’t need a 100% diagnosis since I can’t show you any photos yet but any ideas of what I’d need to do to fix it not being able to turn on or of what could be wrong would help a ton

Switch OLED Image Retention or Burn-in?

I’ve had a while without using my Switch OLED (life happened) and it stayed in the dock for a while. I noticed a whole black that the screen was on, while in the dock, with an error message. Restarted the machine and thought nothing of it. Fast forward to yesterday, and I noticed the same thing - but this time after gameplay.

I’m not too worried about the specifics of the error, it happens with 5 year old kit! But I noticed last night that when on a block white-grey screen I could see the error message faintly hours later. It’s still faintly visible, but I’m not sure if it’s less so? Now, I don’t know how long the message was up either time - but I’ve heard that the Switch’s OLED is pretty great when it comes to burn-in. Is there any chance this could be temporary? I’ve been running those (possibly snake oil) “burn in repair” youtube videos, in the hopes that it’s just image retention and needs some resetting. Any ideas anyone?

I’ve had OLEDs for a long time, and this is the first non-amoled display that’s had the issue!

Left Joycon Stick dragging?

EDIT For future people: I Used a soft toothbrush to reach under the stick and gently lift up the rubber thing on bottom of stick, then while lifted blow air into the gap. Seemed to fix for now. But i would appreciate advice still

EDIT 2: IT fixed for like 5 minutes

Hello,

My left joycon stick has begun to slowly "drag" back to neutral after going left or right. I let go of the stick and sometimes the input stays "stuck" as it slowly moves back to zero. The physical stick doesn't seem like it's stuck, the input.

Like if I go to Calibtrate Control sticks. Normally the stick snaps back to zero in 0-2 frames. Sometimes (especially left and right) when i let go of stick, the dot travels back to zero more slowly. On some occasions the dot travels very slowly when I can clearly see the physical stick has returned to seeminly neutral

I did try calibrating.

my console and joycons are barely a year old

No video on LCD but works docked

Ok so I decided I was going to mod
My switch. So I got down to the APU and cleaned it. I wanted to test it before I started soldering. So I powered it on, backlight comes on, no picture and touch works. When docked there is picture. Now, I just replaced the lcd connector two weeks ago and it is working great….. I’ve attached a picture, does anyone notice anything. I’ve checked most points and there is continuity. It was working till I took it apart and cleaned it….

Removing scratches by replacing the built in “screen protector”

When I bought my switch 2 I foolishly thought that the built in protective film was a real screen protector. It actually took a few months but now it has a few bad scratches in the middle which have been really bothering me. I added a third party screen protector but it didn’t hide the scratches very well.

I’m strongly considering removing both protectors and then immediately installing a new one on top of the glass.

Anyone have any advice or been in a similar situation?

How fucked am I

I was recently trying to replace my joycons joysticks, and I accidentally snapped the red wire on the battery when trying to pull it out. I stopped trying out of panic and put the joycon back together, and just as I expected, it didnt turn on. However, when the joycon was placed back onto the switch rail, it functioned like normal, i presume due to the switch providing power to the joycon in place of the battery. I plan to get this fixed soon, but will using the joycon attached to the switch damage the battery itself or short circuit the joycon? To be specific about the damage, the red wire itself didnt break, the gold pin connecting the wire to the black connector at the end pulled out cleanly, but the black wire is still connected and functional.

[Nintendo Switch Lite] with black screen - water damage and ruined fbc connector

Hi everyone,

My switch lite fell in the toilet on its left side specifically where the daugther motheboard is, didn't have any of the tools needed to open it and clean it from the inside when it happend and I stupidly turned the switch on right once I picked it up.

Long story short I replaced the daughter motherboard just to make sure, the flex cable connecting the main board to the motherboard , the power and volume flex cable as well and a new stick(the original had stick drift).

The console had sound and i was able to move through its home screen but no light(I believe because the screen's flex cable got damaged from corosion- included image(, additionally for some reason the left stick and D-pad were not working.. so I decided to try and swap the original flex cable connect both boards and well.. when I did just that the cable got hot reall quick and left one of the pins in the fpc connector of the main board misplaced and the black thingis under the pins melted(as can be seen on the image included), I also ruined the new power and volume cable somehow so I am expecting a new one to arrive this week.

I assume I need to swap the fpc connector but before I do that I would appreciate your help, what do I need to check on the board itself before I try and swap the fpc and screen ? (Capicators or anything I need to check maybe corelated to why my left atick and D pad were nkt working) , I would really appreciate if you could send the image of my motherboard circled with places to check with the meter🙏🏻

And should I try and swap it myself with a heat gun and stuff? (never done that but I truly wish to fix my switch myself so I can be proud of it)

Or would you say its better I go to a shop to let them replace the connector?(it may be expensive ig?)

Thank you all :)
