Climbing Guadalupe Peak

Hi everyone I was planning on hiking Guadalupe peak in late June and I was wondering if that’s a good time or if I should wait. I plan on making this a solo trip (my mom is the one who’s a little nervous lol). Also I’m a 24M and last September I did Emory Peak in Big bend without much difficulty, so I have some experience with these kinda hikes. Also how early should I probably start the hike?

Possum kingdom

Photos from the Possums Revenge Trail race at Possum Kingdom Lake across from the state park. Bugs beach, Camp Grady, and near Johnsons peak. I thought i could see hells gate from one of the overlooks but couldn't.

Hunting Navigable water ways

Anyone have any experience hunting on navigable waterways in Texas?Theres areas in Cibolo where a dry creek bed expands past the 30 ft requirement to be considered navigable. As well as by Canyon lake, where the river dries up. Basically, Im looking for opportunity to hunt rabbit and squirrels without having to drive 2 hours to Somerville or Granger PHL.I called the Warden and they were little help, stating they wont tell me not to, but highly suggest not to hunt those areas. how do yall do it?

Planning to stay at Caddo Lake SP as a day trip, looking for any advice on where to go kayaking?

So I'm most likely going to only stay there for a day, and I just wanted to take a nice long kayak trail or two that'll fill the day. any advice? Also would appreciate if anyone could link a digital map of the kayak trails.
Or should I just not go to the state park but some other place that has better access to the waterways?

P.S. Planning to rent a kayak or a canoe since I don't own one

Secluded camping near water

Hey yall, I’d like to go camping with a few of my friends. Ideally we’d love to camp near the Nueces river in Barksdale, but as far as we’re aware there’s no camping sites. Any location will do though as long as there’s water to fish and it’s a little bit secluded. If anyone knows anyone “knows a spot” we’d love to hear it, doesn’t have to be completely legal lol. We’re shooting to go camping on the 21st so most places are already booked out.

Cross Timbers Region Trek

This past weekend, I got to visit Lake Mineral Wells and camped out at Possum Kingdom for the night. Also, I got a chance to check out the newest state park, Palo Pinto Mountains SP.

The area was quite verdant, and got to see so much wildlife, from roadrunners to copperheads, even some exotic game on hunting ranches.

FYI, if you’re trying to hit up Palo Pinto, I recommend making a reservation. When I drove up at around 10:30 AM, the park ranger mentioned they had 20 spots left for day passes. It’s the talk of the town! Their hikes are moderately challenging and long, which I appreciated. You can knock out these 3 parks in a single day trip.

Plus, I had a great time driving through Texas backroads. I’m not saying that doing so will solve all your problems, but it’s worth a try!

Pics in order: Lake MW, PPM SP, and PK SP
