Lets try helping each other finish novels before it ends.

Hi as the title suggests. There's many users that have possibly unlocked the chapters with ink and can possibly help people by sending the files with the chapters that can only be unlocked using ink to them. I have managed to download the chapters I unlocked with ink so if anyone needs Vampire Prep, I'm stuck in a Teen Movie, Lies I Tell my Sister and Arabian Nights let me know. I have most of the locked chapters of those downloaded. I unfortunately don't have all of Vampire Prep though as I used giftpasses to read some of the locked chapters but most of them are there including the final chapter so the ending is there.

If anyone has unlocked the locked chapters of Dryland (Chapter 26/episode 27 to Chapter 36/episode 37) & My Kpop Secret (episode 190 to 270) please can you send them to me if you can those are the ones I want to finish but don't have the ink to unlock the episodes.

Can I cry

All of my favorite authors are posting such sad goodbyes and some are still figuring things out on where they’re gonna go and trying their best to continue and get through this. And I know that I’m just a reader but I’m so sad. The end of around a decade and a half of amazing comics and novels(though I was never a novel reader) I don’t think any of us really wanted it to come to an end but eventually this subReddit won’t even exist and people will have never heard of tapas. I’m glad that manta comics is stepping up at such a time, it’s a good business opportunity for someone to take over no 2 in the webcomic industry, and it’s probably helped so many that they can transfer over some comics to manta. But even for them there’s only so much that they can do to help. I guess up until now I just didn’t want to believe that such an amazing platform was going down, and now that I’m watching everything collapse I’m so sad. It feels like how the end of the world would be(dramatic I know lol). But in all seriousness it really feels terrible doesn’t it, it’s so cruel to me the idea they can just one day say that tapas is shutting down and there’s nothing we can do about it. In reference to life if there are any crochet or knitting lovers out there it’s like when Joann’s happened the joanapocalypse, but now it’s the tapastipocolypse.

Let us all mourn the death of a loved one and suffer because of it, for once things die they can never come back to life. I don’t know what’s going to happen in the future or if anyone could ever take the spot of tapas in the industry, but I can at least try to celebrate that tapas was even ever around in the first place, dramatic I know, but I can only share such dramaticism with people who love webcomics just as much as I.

Tapas closes in March 2027. Readers and creators: where are you going, and what should a new home look like?

Hi all. I work in product at a software startup and I’ve been following the Tapas shutdown with great sadness. I’m exploring whether there’s room for a new webtoon platform that puts creators first, but I haven’t built anything and I’m not promoting anything. I’d rather hear from the people affected before anyone builds the wrong thing.

If you read on Tapas:

  1. Which series are you worried about losing?
  2. Roughly how much do you spend per month on webtoons? Coins, subscriptions, Patreon, anything.
  3. Would you rather pay per episode, pay a flat monthly fee for everything, or read free with ads? And why?

If you publish on Tapas:

  1. Where are you planning to move your series? And what’s holding you back from the alternatives you’ve looked at?
  2. Roughly what did Tapas earn you per month, compared to Patreon or others? A rough range is fine. And has Tapas told you whether the rights to exclusive series come back to you?
  3. What would a new platform need to do for you to move your series there, and what would be an instant dealbreaker?

Tapas: Get your Subscriptions before it is too late

Gemini and i brought up a nice script that you can run in your browser, to get a list of all your subsciptions and how far you got. I think this should be available for all you used to love Tapas and now must see it go.

This is about the idea, that are able to export data from Tapas with your Browser. The script runs through all you pages of subscriptions, and reads the data from Tapas. As result you'll receive a tapas_library_exact_progress.txtlike this:

Using it is pretty simple. Just Go to you Library -> Subscriptions in Tapas.

Then Press F12, go to Console and write "allow pasting". Yea, this is more or less scary and you should know what you are doing. Paste the script and change the 3rd line with the the max page number of you library. i have 24.

Then just hit Enter and let it run. When its done you'll get a textfile in the downloads.

The last read episode thing is sometimes off +/- 1 or even more. Thats all the patience i had, so it won't getting better from me.

No more updates either?

I know the shutdown was a shock. Buying ink is no longer an option now, but will there be any more updates until the site closes down? All of the comics I’ve subscribed to don’t say anything about when the next episodes will come. Nothing from the daily section (that I’ve seen) has been updated. Does anyone know? Will we just be left hanging with all of our remaining ink until the end of March?

Why can’t I buy ink if you’re shutting down next year?

It’s already annoying that it is shutting down, but whatever it’s not my company. I’m annoyed over the fact that I’m not allowed to buy any more ink, but they’re shutting down all the way next year.!! if we’re not allowed to buy any more ink, they could have at least made it so that we can watch an ad to unlock episodes! Because I didn’t have no warning so I did not buy any ink and I only have 17 ink but I can’t finish my series because I can’t purchase anymore and there’s no option where I could watch an ad or do something to unlock the next episodes! I understand that there’s WEBTOON and I do go on there sometimes, but my preferred app was Tapas and now I genuinely don’t know because I liked this one better.

How am I supposed to buy stuff?

I have like 2,000 ink right now and I can’t get any more now but with the platform shutting down I need to buy like 30,000 ink worth of chapters to finish the series’s I was reading.

Kinda just complaining because there’s nothing that can be done anymore but if someone knows something I don’t would love to hear it

So where do they all go??

I was literally just coming back to the app to work towards unlocking all of a comic but then a week later, I see it's shutting down with no way to earn more ink, no way to unlock more episodes, no way to retain what we have earned or paid for-

I'm certainly incensed about the business practice here. There are so many comics on Tapas that are ONLY on this platform. The only English translation of my favorite story is hosted here and nowhere else, not even printed. Where on earth can these comics be found once it shuts down in March? CAN they even move platforms or are they restricted from moving until some sort of contract term is up, or even forbidden entirely from moving due to some sort of exclusivity?

I despise the fact that a platform or business can be acquired and then pretty much instantly shut down to be used as a tax write-off. How does that even work??? I don't really want to know; I just think it's beyond stupid, especially with such a popular platform.

I suppose all there is to do is commiserate on our shared annoyance :/
