Is Xiaomi now the aspirational brand for Taycan drivers? Who would do such a thing?

Options you wish Taycan could have

The Taycan is a beautiful car.

But I wish it had better tech. For the price Porsche is

charging, it's insane they don't have a dedicated sentry mode with optional 24/7 recording if you park in public.

I wish it had some of Tesla features inside this car.

I am happy they got e-shift.

What options do you wish for?

Mine are:

full self driving (sometimes we get tired on the road)

Park itself

Sentry mode

Whatcha think about this..

I'm a big tinkerer and have done some CAD>3D print > create mold > cast/layup part type stuff for my motorcycle, other cars, random things here and there..

I'm thinking of digging into a project - a fascia 'insert'/added component to bring a little more edge to the front of the car.. Not necessarily final design, need to tweak the fins a little more vertical.. idk.. but something in this direction..

What's the general opinion? Kinda cool, kinda tacky.. I'm a bit in the middle. I think I like it enough to waste a bunch of time trying to do it.. just need some data for the bumper.. or a 3d scanner

Stick on roof rails. Damn that's cringe.

Ok hear me out please. I know what I'm about to ask is cringe but whatever.

I've got a sport turismo coming next week. I love the spec but it doesn't have roof rails. I'm not looking for functional roof rails but I think it completes the look of the car.

Are there any adhesive roof rails that are just aesthetic?

"Charging not possible" error

I have 2021 Taycan 4s. In the past month or so, I've been getting ye olde "Charging not possible" error several times. Almost got stranded on a road trip. I took it in a few weeks ago, dealership gave it a look over and performed a few software updates, said everything was fine.

Keeps happening, though. Both on slow and fast chargers. Tesla, Electrify America, doesn't matter.

I'm in Texas and it's been in that hot hot 100 degree heat lately.

Anyone else having this issue lately? I've owned the car for 18 months and have had no issues until the past 45 days or so.

Taking it in next week, hopefully they will figure it out. But curious if anyone else is having similar issues - wondering if it's a software bug going around of if it's just me.

Annoying charging issue

When I plug my taycan in to charge overnight, I want to say it’s been really consistent in not charging at all.

It starts with the light being green and it charges. But it then randomly turns yellow and my car does not charge anymore… sucks to see low battery in the morning when I’m driving to work.

I tried super chargers and they work perfectly fine with no issues.

Is this my charger issue? Or a car issue?

My guess is that it’s so freakin hot right now (over 90-100 deg) that the charger turns yellow to stop charging to prevent overheating?

Japan-spec 2025 Taycan 4S Cross Turismo to Europe – PCM conversion + My Porsche / Porsche Connect issue

Hi everyone,

I’m considering buying a 2025 Porsche Taycan 4S Cross Turismo (facelift/J1.2) that was originally sold in Japan and has now been imported to Cyprus (EU).

I have already spoken with a specialist who says he can perform a Japan-to-Europe software/PCM conversion, which should give me:

  • European navigation/maps
  • European FM radio frequencies
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay
  • European region/settings
  • Other EU-specific PCM features

However, he told me that even after the conversion, My Porsche / Porsche Connect will most likely not work, because the vehicle/VIN is originally registered for the Japanese market.

Having the My Porsche app and remote services is very important to me, especially for a Taycan (remote climate control, charging status/control, vehicle status, location, etc.).

Has anyone here successfully converted a Japan-spec Taycan to European specification AND managed to get My Porsche / Porsche Connect fully working in Europe?

I’m particularly interested in knowing:

  • Can Porsche officially change the vehicle/VIN market assignment from Japan to an EU country?
  • If Porsche refuses to change the market assignment, is there another legitimate solution?
  • Can the original Japanese Porsche Connect account/eSIM work through roaming in Europe?
  • Is replacing the telematics/communication module with an EU-spec module a possible solution?
  • Would an EU telematics module still require Porsche backend activation for the Japanese VIN?
  • Has anyone successfully done a full PCM + telematics + Porsche Connect conversion?
  • Are there any specialists in Europe/UK who have successfully done this on a Taycan?

I’m not interested in VIN cloning or anything that could cause problems with Porsche diagnostics, servicing or future software updates. I’m looking for a proper long-term solution.

The car is a 2025 Taycan 4S Cross Turismo, Japanese specification, facelift/J1.2.

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has actually dealt with a Japanese-import Taycan or a similar Porsche Connect region issue.

Thanks!

Been contemplating on wrapping my J1.1 Taycan 4S in dark green

Hi folks!

I have a white Taycan 4S with mission E wheel painted in white and PCSB in white. I've been contemplating on wrapping the car in dark green. I used Porsche builder to demonstrate what I'm envisioning here, but not sure if I should go for it. What's your take on this?

2nd pic is what my car currently looks like

Thanks all!

Porsche Intelligent Range Manager and Car Security Package

I was setting up my online account for my new to me Taycan. I found out there are those two packages are being offered - Porsche Intelligent Range Manager and Car Security Package. Any one is currently using one or the other or both? Are they worth it? The PIRM is a one time fee. How is any different from the basic Navigation? better function?

For the car security package, is it similar to Tesla CAM or Rivian Gear Guard?

Front under cover severely damaged - worth replacing?

Hi all

Yesterday I was driving my 2021 4S slowly over a rubber speed bump that I have driven over 100s of times before when I heard a loud crunch. I stopped and checked and found that a bolt holding a section of the speed bump down was sticking up by about an inch and it has cut a large gouge through the front under cover. Chassis was set to medium.

I assume that this part is not structural and is more for dust/water protection, aerodynamics and sound proofing but is it something that I should have replaced? I’m thinking of keeping the car for another year and don’t want this to be an issue when I come to sell it.

I’m sure it will cost a good amount if I wanted to get it replaced.

Thankfully, I’m fairly sure the main metal battery cover is not damaged.

Thanks

Local Car Show

I took my new to me 2024 GTS ST out to the local car show in my hometown yesterday. It was a bit out of place with all the 50s-90s American cars, but it was a big hit with a lot of folks with a few even saying it was their favorite car there. I let the kids and adults who were really admiring it sit in it and play with the light control roof. They lit up with happiness which was pretty cool. Many people had no idea Porsche made a car like this. This was good ammo for my wife who thinks only old men drive wagons :). Has anybody else shown their Taycan outside of PCA events?

Unknown hit and run on a parking lit

Hi everyone, I’m trying to get a rough idea of what this repair might cost.
My Porsche Taycan was damaged in a parking lot in what appears to be a hit-and-run. I’m not sure exactly what hit it. It could have been another vehicle, a shopping cart, or something else.
I filed a police report, but the police told me the insurance company would need to request the surveillance footage and investigate further.
My deductibles are $2,500 for collision and $1,000 for comprehensive, so before moving forward with the claim I’m trying to understand roughly how much this damage might cost to repair.
Based on the photos, does anyone have an idea what could have caused this type of damage and what a realistic body shop/Porsche repair estimate might be?
Thanks!
