Buying a taycan for the first time

I may buy a taycan for the first time and i have two models (second hands) that the Porsche dealer is proposing:

- taycan sport tourismo 2022 my2023 with extended batterie and panoramic roof, 18k kms
- taycan cross turismo turbo 680ch 2021 with extended batterie and. Pneumatic suspension, 78k kms

Both same price, look quite the same and it seems that they are ready to do an effort on the turbo because to panoramic roof so hard to sell.

Do you see a red flag already here ? Or some suggestions, I Will ask full history and test both. The 4wd of the turbo is something interesting to me but the 78k kms is a warning ! I prefer the look of the sport tourismo but propulsion is not easy on bad roads

Achat taycan 2021

Yellow Circle - HV Battery Failure

Saturday morning got the dreaded yellow electrical system error on our 2020 Taycan 4s (41k miles). Got it over to the local dealership mid morning when the first appointment was available. Today the service rep called to say multiple modules failed in the HV battery. He's brand new and had no idea how long it would take to get the parts from Germany. Any ideas?

They gave us a base Macan ICE and I've been politely pushing for anything electric instead. We'll see how it goes. TIA

Roof Design

Personally, I like the panoramic roof because it adds a black accent to the top of the car. But, I dislike the extra light coming into the vehicle.

What are your thoughts on Porsche adding a high gloss black roof option? Or a carbon fiber roof? I hope Porsche has thought about this.

Brand New (to Me) Taycan!

Hey all, I've been lurking on this forum for a few months. Last week, I became the proud owner of a 2022 CPO Taycan 4S. 9.5K miles, sport chrono, rear axle steering, torque vectoring plus, PDCC, jet black with grey interior RS Spyder wheels, HUD. Dealership replaced battery and tires for no additional charge.

Flew into Austin to pick it up, then drove it back home to NC (with stops in Shreveport and Birmingham). First time ever driving an EV, and getting up the learning curve took the better part of the first two days. Smooth sailing after that.

I love everything about the car, so far. Steering is precise and feedback is great (even better when I put it in Sport Plus). The long road trips felt great, no sense of fatigue. My prior car was a BMW M760i so I'm sacrificing some passenger and cargo space, but with two of three kids away at college, I'm not sure I will need it.

Keen to hear what tips/advice you have for me to keep the car running in its best condition. Plan is to sell the car as it approaches the end of its CPO warranty and flip into a well spec'ed 2025+ 4S or GTS.

Shout out to Joeleen @ Porsche Austin. She was a delight to work with. And thanks to everyone here, the forum posts helped me sort through the alphabet maze of options to determine which ones I really needed.

Warranty worries…

Alright guys,

I’m looking at potentially buying a UK Taycan 4S (2022+) sometime soon and wanted to get some opinions from current owners.

The plan would probably be:
- buy pre-owned approved
- keep the car for around 4–5 years
- extend the Porsche warranty throughout ownership

I absolutely love the car, but the one thing I keep coming back to is the long-term battery situation once these cars move beyond the 8-year battery warranty period.

Obviously the Taycan hasn’t really been around long enough yet for anyone to know how the market will treat higher-age/higher-mileage cars once they’re outside that coverage, especially in the UK.

I’m curious how current owners feel about it:
- Does the battery warranty concern you long term?
- Do you think extended warranties will continue to cover owners well enough?
- Are you planning to keep yours long term or move on before the 8-year mark?
- And generally, how confident are you in Taycan ownership beyond warranty?

Would genuinely appreciate any thoughts from people already living with the car day to day.

Strange bug, Lowest > Low

Anybody experienced this before? It corrected itself after a on/off of the ignition (unsure if that’s correct terminology)

Lease deal for my father

My father is looking to lease his first Porsche. He has been a frugal man his entire life and we are so happy he is finally getting something he truly wants and will enjoy! The Taycan is his dream car and I just want to make sure everything looks ”fair” on this lease deal from our local dealership. I understand leasing these days is not going to get a screaming deal but just want to make sure he’s not getting ripped off. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Located in Southern California.

Terms of 2024 CPO Taycan 4s premium package:
$89k purchase price after discounts
$10k down (8800 down + 1st month payment)
$1200 monthly
24 mo lease
10k yearly milage

NOTE: Not reflected in this termsheet he has an option to forgo the $10k down at signing which he will most likely do. This will increase monthly by about $400 p/mo for a total monthly of $1650. The differnce of taking the no money down is about $800 more over the term of the lease but in the case an accident or something we feel this is the better route. We may be able to negotiate the $800 difference down to $0.

Navigation issues WTG1

I spent last 6+ months bothering Porsche people about navigation crashes and finally today, WTG1 was performed at the dealership (roughly 2 hour process).

Seems like crashes are gone and map UI is a bit updated. PCM version is showing 3892.

I am based in Czech Republic.

How to use Active Lane Keeping (ALK)

I decided to give it a go after learning I can add it from the connect store but I don’t know if it’s working or my expectations were wrong.

It downloaded successfully and I was able to check it as active in the menu. However on my commute this morning, the 2 lane markers turned green but the steering wheel never did. Does that mean it never “turned on” during my drive?

If so, what do I need to do to get it actually doing some of the minor steering?

In the Connect store it also says it helps with stop and go traffic but the lane lines never turned green when I was going below 10mph in traffic. So I know for sure it wasn’t working then.

Hope I’m missing something stupid!

Trade or Purchase Warranty

I bought a CPO 2020 4S with 10k miles on it in 2024.

The CPO warranty will be up soon and I need to decide whether to keep and purchase the extended for $5-7k or trade in and potentially lease a newer CPO so I don’t have to worry about selling.

Battery on mine was replaced with a new battery but I understand the warranty on the battery will not extend beyond the original 8 years.

Payment is about $1000/month so a comparable lease would be fine with me but haven’t looked into how much leases are going for right now.

Welcome any thoughts from anyone who may have done either of the above.

Thanks!

Charging to 85%

Hi all,

Sorry as I’m sure this has been asked loads before, but I’ve been searching for weeks and still can’t find a clear answer.

I bought a 2021 Taycan 4S about a month ago. I’ve got cheap electricity from midnight–6am, and I don’t subscribe to the Porsche app.

What I’m trying to do seems pretty simple, but I can’t get it working with the onboard charging settings:

  • Stop charging at 85% if it reaches that before 6am
  • Or stop at 6am regardless of SOC

So basically:

  • If it hits 85% at 4am → charging stops
  • If it’s only at 75% by 6am → charging still stops

I tried setting a target of 85% by 6am, but when I got to the car it had carried on charging past 90%.

Am I missing something obvious here, or is this not possible without the Porsche app/subscription?

Thanks!

Leasing CPO

Has anyone found any solid leases anymore this year on cpo taycans? I had a great deal on a 4s from last year but unfortunately the car was totaled. I have been searching with no luck, looks like Porsche had enough on cpo lease deals.

I have been contemplating purchasing cpo now, just always weary of EV uncertainty.

What would you pay for this CPO?

Listed for $93K. I think it’s a bit much for 2022.

Taycan Spoiler

Has anyone added the turbo gt spoiler to their taycan (assuming its not a turbo gt) succesfully? If so how.

Excited to join the family but bad delivery experience

Had a newly purchased CPO Turbo CT shipped in an enclosed trailer via a company the Porsche sales person connected me. It cost me $2400. Car showed up with black residue/spots on the exterior and inside on the beige leather, especially around the driver window/door/seat area like the window may have been cracked open during transport. I had it prefessionally cleaned but i can still see some grey spots. Pictures are before the cleaning.

Also, a rear tire was flat on delivery and had to be repaired immediately that day.

Transport company says it’s all just normal condensation/water spotting from enclosed shipping and won’t take responsibility. What makes me question it is the car had just gone through full Porsche CPO prep/detail and tire inspection prior to shipping, and there was also a damaged car above mine on the trailer that looked like it was leaking fluid.

Am I being too picky and unreasonable here? What would you do?

Any info on exactly how these work with the cars regeneration button? Or is that disabled with these?
