In the market for:

* A DAP, to solve my music storage problem (will probably buy a Disc for the aesthetic tbh if it doesn't have the track limit of other snowskys. I'm too lazy to figure out Jellyfin and little tech toys make me happy)

* A decent set of bluetooth headphones for said DAP (need over-ears, can't just settle for Moto Buds or somesuch. So many options...)

* I kinda want an e-reader, but at the same time, I think I just want an e-ink device in general? like one of those minimal phones. maybe I'll get the Kompakt 2 when it releases

* A charger wall plug thingy. Yes, I should just grab my phone's charger already, But I saw a really pretty one today and it's out of stock 😞

* I also kind of want a Charmera just because they're cute (and I had to borrow my mom's phone to take this picture)

For those curious;

I don't get out as much as I'd like these days but it does happen.

Things that ended up on my body, in pockets or in a bag today;

- Xteink X3. Reading "Old Man's War" and "Have spacesuit will travel"

- Old, old bifold wallet by PopovLeather

- Old, old brass-aluminum fidget spinner that I use quite a bit for finger dexterity

- Panic Playdate. Playing "Post Hero" on it which is great fun

- Brass keyholder by Raven workshop from, oh, 20 years ago

- Tag Heuer that I bought on a trip with a fiancee decades ago. Ended up with just the watch

- Baby-insect designer toy. Can't remember the artist.

I had a coffee at a coffee shop. Coffee was $4 and when I looked at the touch-screen the proposed tip was 30% making it $5.20. I paid the $4 and dropped a couple of quarters in the tip jar. Remembered another reason why I don't go out much.

My favorite bag at the moment. The ALPAKA Flight Satchel. Currently loving my XTEINK X4, my ANKER 633 magnetic battery, my ALPAKA HUB pouch to store all my cords and the lumecube tripod

I have several versions of my EDC, but this is my newest one. I’ve had to minimize so much more lately. My former Work EDC had way more than this.

The one on the side above the llama and below the unicorn is for normal use. The black circle is actually the bottom of the screen. I use my MBP in clamshell mode at home with the back facing me.

Tech EDC

Laptop: The HP Envy x360 from almost 10 years ago has its downsides but it runs well on linux mint.

phone, iPhone 15: very good phone, gets the job done and takes good picture.

earbuds: AirPods 4 and Sony WF-1000XM5 are very good earbuds and are always in rotation.

apple watch (not show): its a older series 6, but runs well on low power mode

What a great way to start a Sunday.

Brewed some coffee (I still insist on using a ceramic hand grinder), toasted an Onion bagel ($1.99 from Amazon Fresh for six of them).

Plunked down in the recliner. Put my feet up.

Streamed the latest news update through the Playdate using the free "News Now" app.

Picked up the X3 and read another 10 pages or so of "Old Man's War" (man, I'm loving this book).

Ate the bagel. Oh, it had 'onions and chives' cream cheese on it.

Carried a phone to work today to snap some pics of my updated EDC. I'm getting a new slipjoint knife soon cause my Sod Buster has seen better days. 😂

Just finished up my media module as part of a larger module kit I'm building (EDC sling + bushcraft pack) where I can swap the modules between bags depending what I need for the day.

Heading into Boston for the day and packing a few random trinkets. Not enough to even fill a pouch but I'm backpacking it today just because two straps are more comfortable than one.

• XTEINK X4 - pocket sized e-reader that sticks to the back of any magsafe phone/case. A recent purchase to replace an old kindle oasis. Haven't packed the kindle in over a year but still use it regularly at home. This I can just toss into any pack/sling/pouch and it takes up no space.
• Ayaneo Pocket Micro Classic - Not quite game boy micro levels of compactness, overpriced for what it is, but I dig it as a solid GBA portable. 4x interger scaling for gba, and it has one of my favorite dpads out of any handheld I've used. But you can also just get a MagicX One35 for half the price with slightly worse dpad/buttons.
• Bose QC Ultra Earbuds (2nd gen) - Tuning is mediocre but the wireless convenience and decent ANC means I'm usually grabbing these for travel vs any wired sets I have. I like my music, and do value audio quality, but out and about, convenience is king.
• Ugreen Qi2 Power Bank - 10,000mAh so more than enough to keep everything i have charged through a day. Not the fastest wired charging but the wireless charging is pretty handy.
