Spindle replacement sl-1700 mk2

hi y'all! Due to platter fluctuation, I need to replace my technics 1700-mk2 spindle. The only video I could find on YouTube is related to a 1200-mk2. I have no previous experience and there are no technicians in my village. Is anyone able to help me with a detailed explanation? I'd be very grateful! TIA!

My pair of 1200s...

I've had them for 10 years now and learned, today, that they were both made in June of 1983. I'm pretty sure that I'm at least the third owner but it feels good knowing they have probably purchased together new and have been a pair ever since. I've had both of them serviced within the first two years of owning them and added blue lights under the platters a few years ago.

Technics SL 1300 looping

I have a Technics sl 1300 mk 1 turntable. When I play any record, it will start looping the track after a few seconds of playing. However, when I apply slight inward pressure from the outside of the tonearm (not down onto it) it will stop the loop and continue to play the record correctly. Any ideas as to what is causing this and how I fix it?

My suspicion is it’s one of two things: failed/broken anti-skate or horizontal tonearm bearing stiffness.

For the record, when tonearm is balanced (tracking force set to 0) and I lightly blow on it, it does not move horizontally.

SL1700mk2 after power coating

The old paint was worn and had a few scratches after about 47 years, took it apart and sent the top off to get powder coated whilst I changed all the capacitors (all that I tested were within about 20% but I guess wouldn't have survived forever).

New problem I've got it's the bias doesn't work, soon as I move it the lights jump to the end, it seems to slow down regardless of which way I turn it. It was working before I took it apart and I used deoxit when I got the turntable as it had the same symptoms, used plenty again without success.

Anyone know how to test the rheostat and whether I can do it without removal, and maybe the part number of a replacement if necessary?
