I started a new ATP career...having to deal with these net players. 😬

I played a lot of TE4 this weekend and started a new ATP career. I had an absolute blast. I’d been focused on a WTA career for quite a while, so it took me some time to adjust to the faster pace of ATP matches.

I enjoy watching both ATP and WTA tournaments, and each tour has its own unique rhythm and style of play. TE4 does an amazing job of capturing those differences in the gameplay. Gotta love this game. 🩵

Raf's Court Surfaces causing error?

Since the last mod update i get an error message when i apply it to my game. Anyone else? Not sure if it's the mod itself, or a conflict with another mod.

Any tips for the Career Mode?

This game has got me hooked with how fun the gameplay is from hitting the ball to how movement feels and physics. I’ve only been playing the training mode where you can freely match players of choosing and the court and I think i’ve grasped the important basics like positioning, hitting good shots etc, I’m playing on the junior 5 difficulty.

I started career mode and I’m currently a junior right now my opponents stats are really high compared to mine which makes matches just a stat difference than a skill based one. How many weeks do you guys usually space your games / tournaments? And should I be entering the C / D level tournaments for now?

I don’t want to play against players with long-ass service animations.

I have been playing this game for more than 400 hours, and I am getting more and more frustrated with some of the service animations. When I play against CPUs that use them, I always have to wait for almost 10 seconds for every service attempt (I don't know if that's accurate, but it sure feels long). I never get tired of playing this game, but this is seriously annoying. Can you imagine if they hit a let a few times and I have to wait every single time?

Build 161 - SubBuild 2026.5.16:

New Features :
- Modding : added the possibility to have different grunt sounds for the service and the acceleration

Changes :
- Strike : the smash can now be hit a bit more on the sides

Bug Fixes :
- Controls : with the keyboard, when not pressing an exact required strike combination, the closest match wasn't always selected

- Animation : your player could do some gesture by himself

- Animation : fixed a couple of weird animations

- Animation : the prediction strike could alternate between the smash and the forehand (or the backhand), making your player stutter a lot

- Animation : the dynamic strike animation wasn't smoothed when your player was starting or stopping to run, leading to abrupt changes

- Menus : the controller selection screen's option "Only when 2 controllers or more are connected" wasn't working (ie: it was showing the screen when there were fewer than 2 connected controllers)

When to use Topspin versus Normal Strike

Hi,

I've got this recently and have been really enjoying it. I've slowly been improving and getting a better understanding of tactics and when to do what.

One thing I'm really not sure of is the relvative merits of a Top Spin versus a Normal Strike. I'm often using Top Spin when returning serve, and then mixing it up with Normal Strike if when I'm in rallies. If I'm really defensive I end up defaulting to Normal, if it's even I'm normally on Top Spin and then when I get on top its Accelerations.

Is this the right approach? I suppose the use of Top Spin might vary by surface but was wondering if there's any good rules for tactics I should follow.

Tips on playing

I should normally play with only normal hits and only do super power hits on slow balls, also if i’m returning a first it should be a normal hit and a second a super power hits. And if im serving my first serve should be the super power serve second should be the normal serve and if IM low on energy use the super safe serve. Just seeing if my logic is right

200+ Hours In and I Just Realized You Can Program the Ball Thrower 😐🙄

I simply can't believe it took me so long to notice that option.

Everyone is basically serve and volley

Is it just me or is the serve and volley in this game totally cracked? I feel like I’m going insane. I’m matching against Alcaraz in Career Mode and he’s charging the net every single point like he’s Prime Sampras. Since when does Carlos play like that?

The main issue is that once the AI reaches the net, the point feels effectively over. They rarely, if ever, miss a volley, even when they are caught in poor positions. In real-world tennis, net play is one of the hardest skills to master, but in the game, the AI’s execution feels nearly perfect regardless of their stats or positioning. Unless you force a baseline rally immediately, it’s incredibly difficult to break through. Does serve and volley need a nerf at higher levels to reflect the actual difficulty of volleying?

Animations after the latest patch

I don’t know how exactly to describe it, but after the latest patch something feels weird. The player forehands and backhands do not feel as smooth as before.

Have you guys noticed anything different or is it just me? The player positioning feels weird, I have noticed some scenarios where the player even skates on the court while moving.

Build 160 - SubBuild 2026.5.8:

Bug Fixes :

- Animation : when moving forward (and possibly in some other cases), our player was very often anticipating that we were going to turn around our BH to do a FH, and turn around our FH to do a BH, and thus was preparing the wrong strike

- Animation : the head could be slightly misoriented in some cases, especially with some waiting-for-the-opponent-to-serve animations
