Has anyone successfully had an ADR and VSB compliant towbar rating upgrade done on the Model 3 Performance?
Howdy, newer Tesla owner here. Had my M3RL for a couple of months now. Recently I was tinkering around in service mode out of sheer curiosity and stumbled across an error to do with the Narrow Camera not being calibrated.
I tried a couple of things including clearing calibration both in service mode and out then drove it on the highway for a while during the day to calibrate the cameras.
I’ve Reset the DAS and ECU in service mode and tried to calibrate again but the error remains.
Is this something I should raise a service request for or just not worry about it?
I don’t think it’s impacting FSD but I have had way too many instances of full force hard breaking (but a few others have had this issue too)

Has anyone here actually purchased or financed a new Model Y Performance through a company and successfully qualified for the EV FBT exemption?
I'm trying to get my head around how close the Performance sits to the relevant thresholds, particularly once options are added.
A few things I'm trying to clarify:
- Does the current Model Y Performance qualify for the full EV FBT exemption?
- Does it remain under the Luxury Car Tax threshold for fuel-efficient vehicles?
- If you choose a more expensive paint colour, can that push the vehicle over the threshold?
- What about the white interior or other factory options?
- Is the threshold based on the total vehicle price including factory options, but excluding things like registration, stamp duty and other on-road costs?
I'm specifically interested in hearing from anyone who's actually bought a Model Y Performance through their company or for an employee under the FBT-exempt EV rules.
Basically, I'm trying to work out how much room there is to play with options before accidentally turning an FBT-exempt Performance into a very expensive tax mistake.
Any first-hand experience would be appreciated.
Why does tesla advertise a 3 week delivery window but only offer 8 days to collect the vehicle. I work 7/7 FIFO and the days start when I fly to work (because of course they do).
so the only possible date I could get is when I fly home and have to go straight from the airport to the delivery centre to just make the delivery.
And all this with one week notice.
I’ve been getting quotes from a few different insurers and the difference is crazy.
For me:
- BYD Sealion 7 Performance: around $120/month
- Tesla Model Y RWD: around $320/month, even with a high excess
I’m 35M, no accidents and no previous claims.
I don’t think it’s just because of performance either, because the Sealion 7 Performance is much more powerful than the Model Y RWD, but it’s still way cheaper to insure. Budget Direct quoted me around $120/month for the Sealion 7 Performance, while the Model Y RWD was around $320/month
Does anyone know why Teslas are so much more expensive to insure in Australia?
I really love the Model Y Long Range AWD, but at these insurance prices, it removes almost all the savings you get from driving electric.
So, I recently got a Fold 8 and apparently many people have similar issues to me in which the phone is too short for the wireless charging pad.
Turning it upside doesn't always work depending on the phone case.
Some people would 3d print a spacer and some would even buy spacers from Etsy.
Galaxy Flip users are also complaining about the same thing.
So, behold, i have a cheap solution for you!
A Staedler eraser. Just a good height for Fold 8. For Flip maybe add another eraser to stack it.
It's rubbery, it doesn't move around, it has enough thickness and it works all the time!
Autopilot sticks it slap in the centre of the lane.
14.3.3 made it drive more on the right side.
14.3.5 is really hugs the right side of the lane with me, on both single lane roads and motorway.
Yesterday I turned off FSD only because it was hugging the centre divide.
I'm curious if others are seeing the same or if I need to recalibrate the cameras or something because it's just me.

Update edit: Seems like I'm not alone. My guess on 14.3.3 was that FSD was based on lefthand drive, like Tesla though it was maybe safer for American/Europeans etc to be more biased that way, but when they ported it over to righthand drive they didn't factor this into the equation.
But since 14.3.5 is hugging the divide, it's obvious my 14.3.3 assumption was completely wrong. So I'm left with "it's just fu@ked at the moment."
Any bright ideas how they could've got this so wrong? Seems like it's a pretty simple and basic overlook ("tell car to stay between white lines like Autopilot") which makes it a mindbending head scratcher to me.
I’m getting a new Model Y delivered this weekend. I’d like to add a couple of accessories (aftermarket, not the Tesla ones) like a small spoiler etc. Not very confident on installing these myself, are there places in Melbourne where I can get these installed?
I’m looking at placing an order but told delivery will be Oct-Nov. With November being so close to 2027, I’m think it may be better to wait for a 2027 built model, mainly due to resale but also the potential there may be some small improvements (understanding they are added at any point)
When does the new model year (build date not land date) start landing in Australia? When should it be ordered to ensure you get that year model?
I’m also mindful of trying to get in before FBT changes in April 2027 as I will be doing a novated lease.
Hi all, saw a used Tesla with a dealership, here in melbourne. It's around 60K KM and with $38.5K drive away. It's marked as 2023 model.
No registration. Searching VIN shows it's a QLD Tesla, build 2022 but compliance at Jan 2023.
Is it worth getting this?
Also how can we verify how many users and transfers was made ?
Tried QLD TMR and paid car history report, which doesn't show much info.
Any other suggestions to check?
Driving on a single-lane highway (100km/h speed limit) recently, FSD attempted to overtake a slow vehicle by pulling into the oncoming lane, and had clearly not detected the oncoming car at all.
Overtaking into oncoming traffic without detecting a car coming the other way is about as serious as FSD failures get.
Has anyone else had similar experiences with FSD attempting risky overtakes on single-lane roads?

I’ve had my Model Y for just over three years now (2023–2026), and after crossing the 40,000 km mark, I got curious about the actual, real-world numbers rather than rough estimates.
I went through my Tesla account, extracted all 41 Supercharger receipts, and cross-referenced them with my car's lifetime trip meter to break down where the energy went, what road trips actually look like, and how much was spent.
A quick summary of what the data showed:
Lifetime Efficiency: 150 Wh/km (15.0 kWh/100 km) across 6,000 kWh total.
The Driving Split: ~81% city commuting (charged at home on solar/off-peak) vs ~19% highway road trips (Supercharged along the Hume/Pacific).
Supercharging Reality: Exactly 41 stops in 3+ years (~1 per month, mostly clustered around school holiday road trips). Average stop was 20.6 mins and cost $17.40.
Total 3-Year "Fuel" Bill: $713.47 AUD total out-of-pocket.
The Petrol Comparison: Against an efficient 7L/100km petrol SUV at $1.95/L ($5,460 baseline), it saved about $4,746.

This seems like a small but worthwhile software improvement.
When you’re inside the car with a paired Phone Key, locking through the mobile app doesn’t fully secure it. Tesla’s own manual explains that pulling an exterior handle may unlock the doors because the phone is still detected nearby.
Locking from the front touchscreen is different—it temporarily overrides Phone Key proximity unlocking and keeps the exterior handles locked.
The problem is that when you’re sleeping in the back during Camp Mode, you have to climb into the front just to use that lock button. It would make much more sense to provide the same Lock Vehicle control on the rear touchscreen.
To be clear, I’m not talking about Lock Rear Display. That only prevents passengers from operating the rear screen; it doesn’t lock the vehicle doors.

Yesterday I had to take my 89-year-old mum to her regular podiatrist appointment.
Normally I deliberately book these things outside peak traffic, but circumstances meant we ended up right in the middle of the afternoon school rush around Penrith.
Mum absolutely loves FSD. At 89, she is completely fascinated by the technology and gets a genuine kick out of sitting there watching the car drive itself.
So I thought, feck it, let's see how FSD handles this.
We ended up around Penrith High at pretty much the worst possible time.
Kids everywhere. Prams. Parents pulling in and out. Cars parked everywhere. Mums and dads rushing around. Your typical 3pm school-zone traffic clusterfeck.
And the Tesla just flowed through it.
It was actually quite something to watch. No drama, no hesitation, no stupid manoeuvres. It just seemed to skate through the chaos like a ballerina.
Then came the interesting bit.
We approached one of those ridiculously tight little Penrith roundabouts that feels like somebody looked at an intersection that had absolutely no business being a roundabout and said, "Yeah, chuck one in there."
We're turning right.
Coming the opposite direction is a bloke in a Ford Raptor, going straight through.
FSD is being very cautious and starts proceeding into the roundabout.
The Ranger is already most of the way through when suddenly the driver puts his indicator on and decides he's turning across in front of us.
The Tesla absolutely HIT THE ANCHORS.
Instantly.
That's the bit that genuinely surprised me.
I was watching the Ranger. I knew exactly where he was. But I honestly don't think I would have reacted and stopped as quickly as the car did.
There was no second-guessing what the Ranger driver was doing. The moment he created the conflict, the Tesla stopped.
The Ranger driver obviously realised what he'd done, stopped himself and gave us the apologetic wave to continue.
FSD, however, had apparently decided it no longer trusted this bloke as far as it could throw him. 😂
It wouldn't budge.
So I pressed the accelerator, completed the turn and carried on.
For all the criticism I've given FSD over some of its highway behaviour, particularly speed-limit recognition, this was one of those moments where you sit there and think, okay, this technology is getting seriously impressive.
Driving through that part of Penrith at school pickup time would normally require your full attention and a decent amount of patience.
Instead, with kids, prams, parked cars, impatient drivers and the obligatory Ranger thrown into the mix, the car just glided through it like hot butter.
And when somebody did something unpredictable, it saw it and reacted bloody quickly.
I'd actually love to see Tesla eventually take this one step further and have navigation understand these sorts of hotspots. If it's 3:05pm and your route takes you directly past a major school, perhaps FSD could recognise that and route around it where there's a sensible alternative.
But yesterday?

As title, did I slam the brake too quickly or it just fail to react in time?
I got my car about 3 weeks ago and primarily use the UMC to charge (15A tail)
The issue I am experiencing is that UMC will error out from scheduled charging. I took the car in with the UMC yesterday and Tesla confirmed both works fine individually but not together.
The SA indicated this is a “known bug” and hand waved it to either a firmware update or UMC gen3 ks going to fix this.
This is quite frustrating obviously because I schedule to charge at 11pm, and sometimes to find out in the morning that the car hasn’t charged at all is extremely frustrating.
I can’t reliably replicate the issue either. Some nights it would start completely fine no drama and sometimes it would just error out.
The only thing I can confirm is that once it’s in this state, UMC would not auto recover until I unplug from the wall side.
Are all YL owners experiencing this with UMC? I found one post from 2 months back that talked about a similar issue but I would think this is more prevalent if the SA is telling me this is a known issue. Thanks
