Hoping for a THRASHER npr Tiny Desk!

I think if Pressure Machine wasn’t the time for a tiny desk, this is Brandon’s chance… he did the NPR interview so hoping that might be a sign there’s one cooking.

Thrasher is imminent.

I’ve only listened to "Plans"; I’ve been patient enough to enjoy the full album.

Anyone looking to buy the Imploding the Mirage Cassette Tape

I have one and I’m just curious if anyone is looking to buy it. It’s in very good condition.

Let me know!

I’m not sure if I’m allowed to ask this but I couldn’t find the subs rules … sorry if not allowed!

Thrasher review in The Times

Brandon Flowers: Thrasher review — Killers frontman goes country

He’s not the first rock star to mine the Grand Ole Opry for inspiration, but he combines authentic feeling with spectacle on his third solo album

Cannot wait for Friday

I’ve tried so hard not to read any album reviews as I want to have as little “spoiled” about the album as possible. But I finally caved today and read one review. It seems like we’re in for a real treat with Thrasher.

Usually it seems like critics are unable to accept that an artist is capable of making more than one type of music, but it seems on the whole Thrasher has been really well received, which must take something special.

Anyway, I can’t wait!

Share songs/albums/artists which you've come across that sound similar or remind you of The Killers

I have discovered this emo band called Spanish Love Songs (SLS). I love emo music independently of The Killers, while listening to their most recent album "No Joy" I immediately noticed how SLS's composition and instrumentation was incredibly reminiscent of The Killer's sophomore and junior albums Sam's Town and Day & Age respectively.

Almost every track SLS's album "No Joy" sounds heavily inspired from The Killer's 2nd and 3rd album. SLS's piano/guitar riffs, the compositions timbre and texture all remind of of TK's early work I love it. Every track from No Joy in my opinion feels inspired from TK's early work.

Parts that remind me of The Killers:

  • The piano progression/motif on the track named Marvel around the 40 sec mark
  • Around 1 minute on the first track Lifers the guitar/piano bridge stood out to me, I immediately thought of the new wavish sounds of TL's early work.
  • The beginning chord progression on their 3rd track Haunted is a recurring motif for the entire track and it sounds wonderful and takes me back to The Killers new wave era.

I could draw a connection to The Killers on everyone of their tracks but that would make this post massive.

Then I discovered that Spanish Love Songs have an actual cover of "Smile Like You Mean It". I wasn't crazy the band does draw inspiration from The Killers albeit limited mostly to their new album.

If you loved The Killer's New-wave/Post-punk era and songs I definitely recommend Spanish Love Song's No Joy album.

Have you come across any music that reminds you of The Killers in anyway? I'd love to discover newer artists that draw a similar sound from The Killers.
