I think Devil's Rain is better than Famous Monsters

Famous Monsters has a few great standout songs, but Devil's Rain feels a little more attached to what is great about the first Misfits albums. It can't duplicate that, but I feel like it was obviously done in love. I think it also takes a few more risks than Famous Monsters does, and this really gives it a flavor that says it's a great album.

I personally wouldn't say it's great, but it's as close as you can get, it just lacks something that I can't really put my finger on right now. Famous Monsters Is good, but I feel like it lulls between "Saturday Night" and "Helena" with a few good uses of Graves's voice. Devil's Rain stays in this really nice groove of its own making. It has a few songs worthy of a skip, but they're not stains on the album or anything.

I figure there's got to be at least a few people out there who think similarly, or at least admit the Jerry Only album isn't some egregious attempt at staying alive in music. It feels like they really cared about it, and it does have something to offer musically, even if it can feel a bit corny at times.

Some Art For All The Misfits and Danzig Fans

Haven't drawn anything Misfits or Danzig related in a while thought I might try my hand at it again, also put in Mother Mary in there, fits well with danzig's dark religion banding to me. Took inspiration from band posters and albums covers. Anyways hope you all like it.

RIP Screaming Mad George. Special effects artist and frontman for punk band The Mad who played with the Misfits.

Screaming Mad George was the frontman of the Mad. The Mad played with the Misfits back in the 70s, opening at one of their infamous Halloween shows. He was also an accomplished special effects artist who worked on various horror and sci fi movies in the 80s and 90s. He also directed the cult classic The Guyver. If you don’t know, check out his work. Super interesting dude.

The '95 Proedge Rehearsals

Hey!

So I was trying to complete my little collection of available Misfits recordings and kept coming across these articles:

  1. MISFITS: Rare 1995 Demo Recordings Posted Online: https://blabbermouth.net/news/misfits-rare-1995-demo-recordings-posted-online

  2. MISFITS – Two 1995 Rehearsal Demos Available For Streaming: https://bravewords.com/news/misfits-two-1995-rehearsal-demos-available-for-streaming/

-

Both these articles link to this page: http://www.myspace.com/gaustenmusic

This page was the old myspace page for drummer Joel Gausten, who tried out for the Misfits in '95. You'll notice that the audio on the page is no longer accessible.

However, it existed online at some point...

Basically trying my luck here to ask if anyone has it or atleast more information about it?

I do know there were other rehearsal/audition tapes from 1994-1995 featuring other musicians but I can't find proof of them ever being publically released.

I appreciate any kind of help!

Autographed CDs

I recently inherited a large number of cds, and dude was a huge Misfits fan. I’m keeping most of them, however there are these 4, which I am 100% certain are signed by MG. I know he’s a polarizing person to put it mildly, but I figured if there were any actual fans of his musical output perhaps it’d be here? Anyways, looking to perhaps work out a trade for these if anybody is interested-

Met Doyle at KOH in San Antonio today!

He was a sweetheart! He signed my tattoo, records and my Misfits poster. I'll be uploading the poster later! My friend drove me 4 hours to meet him! Im so grateful! 🖤 I also asked him if they were gonna tour next year for the 50th anniversary and he said that hopefully and that he's just waiting on Danzig! 👀🥺

Dum Dum Girls - Bhang Bhang I’m a Burnout b/w Last Caress 7”

I love bands that expand upon the style of 60’s groups like the Shangri-La’s. There is no such thing as too much reverb when you’re high on reefers, and this record has the best Misfits cover I’ve heard since Sloppy Seconds put out that Where Eagles Dare 7”.

The lyrics to Last Caress sound crass and violent when Glenn sings them, but this Dum Dum Girl brings a certain grace and depth of intention to the words.
