Jacksonville, FL - The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office released video on Wednesday showing the moments that led to the fatal shooting of a man armed with a gun, who police said kicked in the doors of four homes in the Holiday Hill neighborhood earlier this month.

On May 4, officers responded to the reports of multiple armed burglaries on Rigel Road off Century 21 Drive.

They said that starting around 11:15 p.m., a man identified as 33-year-old Brandon Kaphers had kicked in the doors of four occupied homes while carrying a handgun.

Surveillance camera footage shared by JSO showed Kaphers walking up to the front door of a home with a gun in his hand. He appeared to ring the doorbell before kicking in the door and entering the home.

You can hear a woman say, “What the [expletive] was that?”

Not even a minute later, he walks out of the home, saying, “Man, y’all playing with me.”

“Yo, what the ****,” the woman can be heard saying after Kaphers walked out of the home.

According to police, Kaphers kicked in the front door of another home, went upstairs and pointed a gun at a resident in her bedroom. She immediately called 911.

Kaphers then went to kick in the front doors of two other homes.

In another video, officers could be seen pulling up to the neighborhood as Kaphers, who was still armed, was walking across the driveway of some homes.

A woman then pointed him out to the police. When he approached the police, the video showed him pointing the gun at them twice before officers fired multiple times.

Kaphers was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.

JSO said Kaphers had a criminal history that included aggravated assault with a weapon, false imprisonment of a minor, and other charges.

Bakersfield, CA - The Kern County Sheriff's Office released body-cam footage on Tuesday of the incident that led to the death of the suspect who shot and killed Tulare County Sheriff's Office detective Randy Hoppert in April.

Law enforcement was involved in a stand-off with Morales for several hours.

The BearCat used in the incident was provided by the Kern County Sheriff's Office. Eric Morales, 59, shot at the BearCat, striking it, said deputies.

Subsequently, the BearCat ran over and killed Morales after he shot at the vehicle, according to the footage provided.

KCSO deputy Chad Clark was placed on routine critical incident leave pending the completion of the investigation, said the Kern County Sheriff's Office.

Suspect David Eric Morales shot and killed TCSO detective Randy Hoppert, said the Tulare County Sheriff's Office.

The incident stemmed from earlier in the day, when on April 9, 2026, at around 10:20 a.m. near Newcomb Street and Grand Avenue, deputies attempted to serve an eviction notice to 59-year-old David Eric Morales.

Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux said. Boudreaux said Morales had been notified about a month earlier that he would need to leave his home.

Authorities said Morales opened fire with a rifle, prompting an officer-involved shooting and a large response from multiple agencies, including Porterville police, Visalia police and the California Highway Patrol.

During the chaos, Tulare County Detective Randy Hoppert was shot. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died. Hoppert leaves behind his wife and a four-month-old baby.

The Kern County Sheriff's Office is investigating the deadly use of force in the incident. It will be submitted to the Tulare County Sheriff's Office for review.

On May 12, 2026, the Kern County Sheriff's Office convened an Incident Review Board to examine the use of force in the incident.

The board determined the use of force was within department policy.

Officer catches baby dropped from window of burning home

Kalamazoo, MI - A mother and her infant are safe after being rescued from a burning home in Kalamazoo, Mich., last week, thanks to a quick-thinking public safety officer who caught the baby after the mother dropped the child from a second-floor window into the officer's arms.

Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) crews responded to a working structure fire around 4:16 p.m. May 15 at a two-story residence. The home is divided into three separate living units, according to KDPS.

Dispatchers were alerted that a porch was on fire and that a woman and her infant were trapped inside the second-floor unit.

When first responders arrived, they found a fully involved porch fire on the right side of the building. While assessing the structure, crews spotted the woman in a second-floor window on the left side of the home, holding her baby as smoke poured out of the structure.

In body camera footage from an officer identified as Public Safety Officer Arnett, you can see Arnett circle the building searching for the woman and infant. Once he finds them, he can be heard encouraging the woman to kick the screen out of the window and drop the infant into his arms. Video then shows Arnett catch the child and shift focus to getting the mother out as well. KDPS said the baby was handed off to a nearby equipment operator. A ground ladder was then raised to the window, allowing the mother to climb down to safety.

Both the mother and the infant were taken to a local hospital for precautionary evaluation. Neither were injured.

Occupants of the two lower-level units self-evacuated and were not hurt.

Fighting the fire presented additional challenges because s the interior staircase had been damaged by the flames, forcing crews to use ground ladders to reach the second-floor porch, KDPS said.

Most of the fire was concentrated on the exterior right side of the home, but flames had spread into the attic. Firefighters removed portions of the roof edge and exterior siding to reach hidden flames, and additional crews removed sections of the ceiling inside to locate and extinguish remaining hot spots.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Virginia, MN - The Virginia Police Department released videos of a shooting that left a man dead after he pointed a torch lighter, which investigators say resembled a gun, at police.

Body camera footage shows an officer driving before taking out his weapon.

The officer then steps out of his squad car and points his handgun at the suspect while ordering him to put his hands in the air.

The footage then shows the officer opening fire, fatally striking the suspect.

Virginia police said officers were dispatched around 8:20 a.m. to the 300 block of 2nd Avenue South for a report of a man wearing a ski mask who was pacing and waving a handgun on May 1.

When officers arrived, they encountered the man walking down the sidewalk. Police say the man ignored commands to drop the weapon and pointed what appeared to be a handgun at officers. An officer then discharged their weapon, striking the man, according to police.

Police say they administered first aid at the scene, and he was transported to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The man was later identified by the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office as Ethan Roy Basche, 31, of Chisholm.

The officer who fired the shots is identified as Lt. Henry Trunk, who has 10 years of law enforcement experience.

The Virginia Police Department also released dashboard camera footage that shows Basche pointing the torch lighter at police.

The footage then shows him falling to the ground after being struck by gunfire.

Greensboro Police Officer was justified in deadly August 2025 shooting

Finding videos takes time and effort, keep me motivated by donating to https://paypal.me/thisisbutter or Cashapp $thisisbutter1

Greensboro, NC - Greensboro police released body-worn camera footage on Monday related to a fatal shooting last year, according to a Greensboro Police Department news release.

At 4:06 p.m. on Aug. 5, a Greensboro officer was flagged down by a resident in the 1600 block of Marion Street about a trespasser call.

The resident directed the officer toward a man, later identified as 48-year-old Said Ezzine, who was suspected of trespassing on a nearby property.

The officer then started talking to Ezzine, and he refused to comply with repeated commands from the officer.

Ezzine got a weapon and moved toward the officer, and the officer shot him, police say.

The officer requested EMS and rendered aid. Despite the life-saving efforts, Ezzine died at the scene.

“Any loss of life during an encounter with law enforcement is significant and deeply impactful for the individual’s loved ones, for the officers involved and for the broader community we serve, “GPD Chief Kamran Afzal said during a news conference on Monday. “These incidents are difficult. They carry understandable emotion, and they deserve careful review and transparency.”

On Monday, the GPD released the body-worn camera footage of the officer-involved shooting.

Police say the officer was familiar with Ezzine due to previous encounters with him.

The GPD says his recent arrest history included charges of assault on officers.

At one point, the officer can be heard saying, “Come here, friend. I just need to talk to you.”

Ezzine is then seen walking away.

In the video, an officer points a taser at Ezzine but does not use it.

“Use of taser is prohibited unless there is an imminent threat. So the fact that he was merely walking away, we are not by federal Court of Appeals decision, … allowed to use taser in that instance. So we are limited, and pretty much anybody in North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland and parts of South Carolina are limited based on that ruling, and that applies to us,” Afzal said.

Ezzine is seen walking away and going into a shed on the property. Police say he grabbed a steerwheel lock. He later picks up a saw blade and walks towards the officer.

He throws the saw blade on the ground, picks up a pipe wrench and begins walking toward the officer again.

The officer fires his gun four times.

After being shot, Ezzine ran behind the home. EMS was called, and he died at the scene.

Lady Lake, FL - A Lady Lake woman was arrested on an animal cruelty charge after police rescued a puppy from a hot vehicle parked at a shopping center along U.S. HWY 27/441.

Lady Lake police responded around 2:25 p.m. Saturday, May 16, 2026, to the Five Below parking lot after a witness reported a dog locked inside a parked car with the windows only slightly cracked. At the time, temperatures were above 92 degrees with sunny, humid conditions.

Officers Jeffrey Burns and Michael Tisdell located a white Mercury Grand Marquis parked in direct sunlight with no shade. Inside, they found a black puppy panting heavily, crying and scratching at the window. Officers noted the puppy’s tongue was extended, and it appeared to be in distress.

The engine was off, and officers said the interior of the vehicle was extremely hot. Unable to reach the locks through the window opening, they used a baton to activate the door unlock mechanism and remove the puppy. Once freed, the officers gave the dog water and placed it in an air-conditioned patrol vehicle.

Officers had been on scene about 10 minutes when the vehicle’s owner returned. The woman, identified as 26-year-old Yeneese Mystic Morejon, told officers she had only been inside the store for “like 30 seconds” and said the line was long.

However, a witness told police the dog may have been inside the vehicle for 45 minutes to an hour, based on when she arrived and later noticed the animal in distress.

Authorities said Morejon was on felony probation through the Florida Department of Correction at the time of the incident. She was arrested and transported to the Lake County Jail without incident.

Genesee County, MI - A senior prank caught on police body camera video in Genesee County is raising fresh concerns about the end-of-year game known as “water wars,” in which students use squirt guns to “eliminate” opponents in a bracket-style competition that can include cash prizes.

Davison Township police Chief Jay Rendon said an officer responding to a 911 call about suspicious activity believed he may have been walking into an active burglary when he approached an open fence and encountered a teen who jumped out and sprayed him with a squirt gun.

Rendon said the officer had only moments to assess the threat.

“He just had a fantastic action not to fire and shoot this kid,” Rendon said. “He had milliseconds to make that decision.”

Davison Community Schools sent a letter to parents of seniors urging students to stop playing the game, saying police have responded to other incidents tied to “water wars,” including speeding, trespassing, and disruptions to local businesses.

Tampa, FL - After a Black man was approached by a Tampa police officer while sitting in his car outside of a bank, his video of the interaction went viral.

Now, newly released police body camera footage shows another angle of the incident – and why the bank says they contacted authorities.

On May 6, a Tampa Police Department officer was called to the Chase Bank location on Kennedy Boulevard to investigate a reported suspicious vehicle. The body camera footage has a time-stamp showing that the interaction occurred just before 9 a.m., the bank’s posted opening time.

The officer approached the driver, who told him he was just waiting for the bank to open. Bank staff reported the driver having an “open container” of alcohol, but the footage showed that it was just a Red Bull energy drink.

The driver explained that he operated several Airbnb properties and was there to conduct business at the bank.

After speaking with a staff member, the officer returned to the car and informed the driver that the bank was now open.

Flagler County, FL - Deputies with the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Palm Coast man following a domestic disturbance investigation Sunday night that escalated into a barricade situation and ended with one suspect in custody and FCSO K-9 Titan taking his first bite out of crime.

Deputies responded to a home in the R Section of Palm Coast around 10:00 p.m. after the Emergency Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call from a distraught victim reporting that Ilia Javoronkov, 43, of Palm Coast, was hurting them. During the call, the victim pleaded for help, stating “He’s going to kill me” and “Please bring help; he’s hurting me.”

As deputies arrived, they could hear yelling from inside the home. When Javoronkov came to the door, deputies observed the victim behind him, appearing fearful and attempting to stay back. Deputies separated the parties by having the victim speak with them outside. Shortly after, Javoronkov shut the door and refused to cooperate.

The victim reported that an argument began and Javoronkov threw the victim, causing visible injuries. The victim stated that Javoronkov shoved the victim into a closet and strangled the victim while attempting to access a gun safe. The victim stated feeling “the blood draining from my head” while being strangled.

According to the victim, Javoronkov did not have the combination to the gun safe but threatened to kill the victim if he gained access. The victim also reported that Javoronkov left the bedroom, and after he returned, the victim held the bedroom door shut. During the struggle over the door, Javoronkov again threatened, “If I get inside, I’m going to kill you.” Javoronkov barricaded himself inside the home and refused to exit.

Throughout the incident, he would open the front door and garage door multiple times to yell derogatory remarks at deputies and tell them to get off the property. Master Deputy Jenkins, serving as a crisis negotiator, attempted to communicate with Javoronkov by phone and text message for approximately 2.5 hours. During that time, Javoronkov refused to cooperate and, when advised he was under arrest, stated, “Come and get me.”

After extended negotiations, Javoronkov moved to the back of the residence where FCSO K-9 Titan apprehended him and held him while deputies secured him.

Javoronkov was transported to a medical facility, where he refused medical treatment and continued to yell threats toward law enforcement and hospital staff. After being medically cleared, he was transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility.

Javoronkov was arrested for domestic violence battery by strangulation, obstruction without violence, and false imprisonment. He is being held on a $23,500 bond.

“Domestic violence situations can turn deadly in seconds, and when someone makes threats like ‘I’m going to kill you,’ our deputies and K9s are going to treat it as the danger it is,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “We attempted for over 2-hours to de-escalate the situation but when that didn’t work and the opportunity presented itself, K9 Titan took a bite out of crime and got the suspect as he requested.”

Javoronkov has a history of grand theft, dealing in stolen property, burglary, battery and disorderly conduct.

Woman shot by San Diego police officers after she stabbed a man multiple times with a ballpoint pen

Finding videos takes time and effort, keep me motivated by donating to https://paypal.me/thisisbutter or Cashapp $thisisbutter1

San Diego, CA - The San Diego Police Department released a video Thursday showing an officer shooting and wounding a woman after she allegedly stabbed a man multiple times in the East Village last month.

Officer Yand Grijalva, a six-year department veteran, shot San Diego County resident Denise Guzman, 32, while she was actively attacking a man with a ballpoint pen April 15 near 16th Street and Island Avenue, investigators said.

Guzman survived and was later booked into jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, exhibiting a weapon to law enforcement and resisting arrest.

The video says that police dispatchers received a call of an “assault with a deadly weapon in progress.” The caller told the 911 operator that two homeless people were fighting, and one was stabbing the other with what appears to be either a knife or “a pick.”

The video cuts to body camera footage captured by Grijalva as the officer pulled up to the scene and exited his vehicle. Guzman appeared to be walking toward the man with the weapon in her right hand, and Grijalva raised his handgun in her direction.

“Drop the pick in your hand right now, drop the pick … or I will shoot you,” Grijalva yelled at Guzman.

As Grijalva continued to repeat his commands, Guzman started running toward the man, the video shows. At that moment, the officer fired his handgun multiple times, striking the woman at least twice in the chest.

Guzman stopped running, turned toward the officer and was seemingly unfazed by her gunshot wounds, the video shows. Grijalva yelled at her multiple times to get on the ground and surrender.

The officer then backed up across the street while Guzman continued to advance toward him, the video shows. Another officer drove up to the advancing Guzman — stopping a few feet short of hitting her — and stopped the woman’s forward advancement toward Grijalva.

The other officer then exited his vehicle and began backpedaling, and Guzman started walking toward him, according to footage in the video.

Grijalva pulled out his Taser and fired at Guzman, causing her to fall to the ground. A third officer also fired his Taser at the woman, who then dropped a red pen from her hand.

She was taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries.

Albuquerque, NM - On Jan. 10, Albuquerque police Officer Brad Hess chased armed robbery suspect James Litteral following a theft at an Amazon distribution center, leading to a confrontation and gunfire. Investigators reported that Litteral attempted to hijack a vehicle, and although the officer's body cam did not capture Litteral raising his firearm other than a shadow, police stated that witnesses confirmed seeing Litteral raise the weapon at Hess.

"And those people observed the subject, pulled the firearm out of his waistband area and start to produce a firearm. He pointed it at the officer," said Cmdr. Jeff Bernard.

Earlier in the day, the incident began with a 911 call from an Amazon distribution center employee reporting an armed man stealing from the facility. An Amazon employee said they saw Litteral enter the facility with a firearm. Investigators identified Litteral, wearing a black hat, as he loaded stolen packages into a waiting truck. He was a passenger.

Police located the truck driving eastbound on Central Avenue, and dashcam video showed Litteral fleeing the vehicle and running. Litteral jumped a fence on Singing Arrow Avenue, and police temporarily lost sight of him. Hess later spotted Litteral on the roof of a house, prompting another chase. Police said Litteral attempted to hijack a vehicle, and Hess tried to tase him four times before firing three shots.

Police noted that Litteral had a long criminal history and was on probation.

Woodlawn, IL - Illinois State Police have released video footage showing the moments before two state troopers shot and killed a man last month in the Woodlawn neighborhood.

State police have said troopers were responding to a domestic violence call around 10:40 p.m. on April 15 in the 6500 block of South Champlain Avenue. Police said the incident started on Interstate 57, and troopers chased the vehicle involved to the city's Woodlawn neighborhood. When they arrived, they said they found an armed man at the scene.

The man, later identified as 24-year-old Jalen Carpenter, was killed in a struggle with police.

Body camera video and surveillance camera footage, shows police approaching Carpenter on the sidewalk, and a male state trooper asking him, "So, what happened right now?"

"Me and my girl were arguing, but that's it," Carpenter responded.

"Okay, do you have any weapons on you?" the officer asked.

"Uh uh," Carpenter said.

The officer then asked Carpenter to lift up his shirt before the two began struggling, blocking the view of the officer's camera, but Carpenter can be heard asking "what you doing? Stop, leave me alone!"

The officer can then be heard telling Carpenter to "stop reaching," and shouting "he has a gun!"

Surveillance video from a nearby house shows Carpenter holding a gun as the officer struggles in attempts to restrain him, and Carpenter's gun firing at least once.

Both officers can then be seen shooting Carpenter multiple times.

Carpenter's father, Stan, has said he wants a full investigation into his son's death.

"He took his last breath in the cold street and died alone," he said last month. "I wanna see body cameras. I want—I want—I want to see the evidence."

Stan Carpenter said his son was a father to a son who is almost 2 years old.

"I'm just, I'm hurt right now. My family is hurt behind this. He was a good kid, worked for Amazon, you know, made some mistakes in his life, and you know, he was, he was doing good, man," he said.

Jalen Carpenter's mother said he was the eldest of five children.

Carpenter was on electronic monitoring on an aggravated assault charge at the time.

CT troopers justified in 2025 fatal shooting of woman who said 'this is how I am going to die'

Bozrah, CT - State police responded to a home on Gifford Lane around 7:20 p.m. that night.

A resident of the home called 911.

“The caller stated that her daughter and a man were in the driveway involved in a physical altercation with a gun,” Prescott said in the report. “State police troopers were dispatched to the location.”

Sgt. Zachary Cash of the Connecticut State Police responded, along with troopers Noah Blanchette, Brett Cook, and Drew Croteau.

When they arrived, Prescott said they approached the home and saw Frew enter the front passenger seat of a Honda Accord that was parked in the driveway. They also saw Williams walking from the backyard toward the Honda holding a handgun in her right hand.

“As she got near the Honda, troopers yelled at her to drop the gun and show her hands,” Prescott said. “Williams replied that she was not going back to jail and that, ‘this is how I am going to die.’”

Prescott said Cash fired several rounds from a Pepperball gun at Williams; however, she did not drop the gun.

“When Williams raised her gun in the direction of the troopers, Trooper Cook fired one round from his duty pistol and Trooper Blanchette fired two rounds from his service Colt M-4 rifle,” Prescott said. “Williams fell to the ground with a gunshot wound to the head.”

The inspector general said the troopers on scene provided medical aid to Williams and called for emergency medical services. Medical personnel from the Bozrah Volunteer Fire Company arrived and determined that Williams had no pulse and no respiration. Williams was pronounced dead at Backus Hospital.

Evidence showed Williams had fired shots earlier during her confrontation with Frew, though Frew was not hit.

The report showed that a toxicology analysis found alcohol, cocaine, and cocaine metabolites in Williams’ system.

“Based on the investigation, I have concluded that the actions of Trooper Cook and Trooper Blanchette were reasonable under the circumstances,” Prescott said. “I also conclude that their belief that Williams posed an imminent threat of death or serious physical injury to them and others, and that it was necessary to respond to that threat with deadly physical force was objectively reasonable under the requisite legal standard. Accordingly, I conclude that their use of deadly force was justified.”

East Lansing police released bodycam of deadly shooting of Owings Mills man followed from a stabbing

East Lansing, MI - The East Lansing Police Department released a narrative timeline Friday of the officer-involved shooting that led to the death of 21-year-old Michigan State University student Isaiah Kirby.

The release comes one month after the incident, and one week after the initial planned release of footage. The release was delayed to include additional footage. The attorney representing the Kirby family says the video shows a use of "deadly force that was neither reasonable nor legally justified."

The video was narrated by Police Chief Jennifer Brown. The video contains graphic content, and viewer discretion is advised.

“I want to extend my deepest condolences to the Kirby family for their loss,” she said at the beginning of the video.

The narrative timeline featured three 911 calls — one reporting an initial theft and two related to a fight in a parking lot near Lake Lansing and Abbot roads.

According to the first caller, a suspect allegedly stole food from Marco’s Pizza and left for Biggby’s across the road. The caller said the suspect did not appear to have a weapon, but that they started fighting with someone in the parking lot.

The other two calls were regarding the alleged fight in the parking lot, where 64-year-old attorney Douglas Mielock was stabbed.

“I want to wish Mr. Mielock a full and speedy recovery,” Brown said in the video.

The timeline also included cellphone footage from a witness inside Biggby’s. The video began after the stabbing took place. ELPD said it has no footage of the stabbing itself.

ELPD released redacted body camera footage of the four officers involved in the shooting, as well as the officers' names and terms of service.

The officers involved were Field Training Officer Beck Martin, who’s been with ELPD for three years; Officer Brennan Surman, two years; Officer Benjamin Saylor, one year; and Officer Zane Johnson Chasteen, three months. Chasteen was paired with Martin.

The video shows the officers arriving at the scene. The suspect then runs south on Abbot Road toward the officers with what appears to be a knife in his hand. The suspect did not respond to calls for him to drop the knife, and the officers fired.

The Kirby family was shown unredacted footage of the incident prior to the release of the narrative timeline. The family’s attorney, Teresa A Caine Bingman, released a statement on May 15.

“After reviewing multiple complete, unedited body camera footage, dash camera footage and eyewitness videos, it is clear that Isaiah Kirby was met with an immediate and overwhelming use of deadly force,” Bingman wrote. “Within moments of arriving on the scene, East Lansing police officers did not use non-lethal options and immediately fired more than 20 rounds.”

One officer had readied a 40 mm foam round, which is used to incapacitate and de-escalate a situation, but other officers had fired before the round was shot.

Officers were shown to be providing medical attention to the suspect after removing the knife from his hand as well as the victim of the stabbing.

Miamisburg, OH - A pursuit that began with Middletown police spotting a stolen car ended with a crash in Miamisburg and an arrest near the Great Miami River.

Middletown officers initially chased the stolen vehicle but broke off when it left the city. Police alerted Franklin officers that the suspect was headed their way.

At the intersection of Sixth and Anderson in Franklin, an officer saw the driver run a red light and began a pursuit that went in front of the police department. The suspect did not stop for Middletown but also failed to stop for Franklin.

“By the time the officer caught up to him, [the suspect] had already turned onto Fourth Street and then onto Riley and then started heading north,” Franklin Division of Police Chief Adam Colon said.

Dash camera video showed the suspect vehicle in the distance. No speed was recorded on the video, but the vehicles appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed as they entered a more residential area and approached downtown Miamisburg, where the speed limit is 25 mph.

“As the officer was getting close to downtown Miamisburg, he was initiating to terminate the pursuit because of where they were at. And at that time, the suspect vehicle struck another vehicle. He was traveling on Linden Avenue,” Colon said. “And then the suspect vehicle struck a parked vehicle, which was unoccupied, and ended up in the middle of the road at First Street."

After the crashes, the suspect got out of the disabled, stolen car and ran toward the Great Miami River but did not get away. Miamisburg police eventually arrested and identified him as Juan Harris, 31, of Dayton.

No one was inside the parked vehicle that was hit. The person in the SUV that was struck was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Pasadena, CA - Newly released body camera footage shows a deadly shootout between officers and a man in Pasadena.

An officer was seriously wounded during the gunfire exchange, which occurred on March 2.

Police responded at about 7:30 p.m. after a man had been shot at the Sierra Madre Villa Metro station. When officers arrived, they found the suspect a few blocks away. A foot chase occurred, followed by an exchange of gunfire between the suspect and the officer -- all captured on his body camera.

Although injured, the officer survived his injuries.

The suspect died at the scene. He was identified as 32-year-old Malcolm Buchanan, a Pasadena resident.

Along with the video release Friday, police also released the image of the alleged gun used by the suspect. His grandmother told ABC7 at the time that Buchanan struggled with mental health and was possibly off his medication at the time.

"The officer's actions at that moment I think would be considered heroic. It is always a tragedy anytime there is a loss of life... that is not what we get into the business for and speaking to the officer is certainly not what he got into the business for, but we understand it is always a risk and potential for this type of incident to occur," said Pasadena Police Chief Gene Harris. "I'm really proud that the officer relied on his training and really set in his mind that he was gonna get through this critical incident."

The officer, Bryan Vasquez, is a 5-year veteran of the department. Chief Harris says he's out of the hospital, but still on leave -- describing his situation as a "long road ahead."

"It's gonna take some time before he can get back to work and even do things that are just normal," Harris said.

Chief Harris said they've released the video after first showing it to the suspect's family last night.

Authorities also released a video captured by a witness, which they believe shows the suspect sexually assaulting a second victim before running away.

The shooting remains under investigation.

Laurens Co. deputy fired after body-cam video shows confusion over patrol car damage

Finding videos takes time and effort, keep me motivated by donating to https://paypal.me/thisisbutter or Cashapp $thisisbutter1

Laurens County, SC - A Laurens County deputy was fired after a body-worn camera recording captured fellow deputies repeatedly questioning him about damage to his patrol car — and the deputy appearing unable to clearly explain what happened.

The video, obtained by FOX Carolina Investigates, shows the tail end of a traffic stop in August 2025. As deputies look over the vehicle, they press the deputy about a large scrape and what appears to be a dent.

“I scraped it coming out of somebody’s house,” the deputy says on camera.

Other deputies immediately ask when the damage happened and why it wasn’t reported sooner.

“When did you do that?” one deputy asks. Another adds, “It looks bad… you didn’t tell us.” A deputy points out, “Yeah, it’s dented… that’s like completely dented.”

When pressed for details, the deputy offers a vague explanation and suggests he hit a shed while at someone’s home, but his description shifts as the questions continue.

“What did you scrape?” a fellow deputy asks.

“It was like the shed of somebody’s… like shed thing… coming out,” the deputy responds.

“Out of their driveway?” another fellow deputy asks.

The deputy replies, “Umm… yeah… it wasn’t like their actual driveway but like…”

The video also shows the deputy struggling to recall where he was or what call he was on when the damage happened. When asked if he remembered where he was, the deputy responds, “Not really… it was somewhere in Waterloo.” When asked what call he was on, he says, “I can look it up.”
