Autumn colours

Good evening good people of Toowoomba.

My wife (from the Northern Hemisphere) is feeling a bit homesick so I thought it would be nice to show her some Autumn colours. Here in Brisbane, as I'm sure you are aware, the gumtrees don't do a hell of a lot so I thought I'd surprise her with a trip up the range for lunch and a tour of the city and surrounds to seek out some colours.

Quick question - would this weekend be too early? Too late? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Will pest control come out for one huntsman spider?

Don't troll, I'm being dead serious here. I HATE spiders my fear is off the charts. Like literally jumping and gagging whenever I get close with a cup or my vacuum to get rid of it. I know exactly how ridiculous I sound.

I woke up with a huntsman on the wall directly above my bed, TERRIFYING. Unfortunately my friends I usually live with are away so I am left on my lonesome to deal with it.

I have never used pest control before and I understand they would typically come out for infestations but do you think they would come out for this as well?

UPDATE: My boyfriend finished work and visited to help me get rid of it! Spider of doom has now been eliminated, huzzah!!

We're starting a T-bar comedy club!

Hey Guys!

i'm Aaron Ducker one of the co-founders (and the first MC) on a new open mic comedy night we're gonna be running every month at Flaming Knights in Drayton! with the opening night being june 10th!

If you've been in Toowoomba for a long time I used to do stand up with the old "rogues gallery" outfit in the late 2000s/early 2010s in places like "Bon Amicis" and "the oxygen bar" among others.

The main driving idea is this is gonna be a comedy night created by locals to support locals! and also to give some more underheard voices a chance to shine! we've got a stacked line up of both incredible local talent and some intercity folk coming down from brisbane and the gold coast to donate their time to make it a killer evening!

It's free entry.. and there's still a couple of sign up spots for anyone local wanting to try comedy...

Favourite lunch spots?

Anyone have a favourite lunch spot (locally owned businesses) that’s around or under $20 per head? Trying to organise a fortnightly lunch catch-up with a group of friends but most of us are tight on money. Hoping for ideas on places that are good but also on the budget friendly side.

Anywhere nice to walk at night?

Moved here from Canberra and miss the lake walks that are lit up at night. Are there any nice places to walk here that are lit up? Like parks or river walks? Thanks

What if we use foreign labourers to relocate Toowoomba down the range and to a location where building a passenger rail from New Toowoomba to Brisbane would be viable?

Nice surprises

Hey everyone!

I (34F) am in a long distance relationship (I'm in Europe, he's (34M) in Toowoomba). He visited my country in February, and I'm going to Australia in August. 😊

We send each other gifties sometimes by post, but recently I've been thinking about more efficient/fast ways to surprise him.

Today I'm thinking about maybe ordering him breakfast (we have a 7h difference🤭). So I'm wondering - what kind of apps do you guys use for ordering food?

Also, if anyone has some fun/unconventional ideas about what to see/visit in Toowoomba and surroundings, I'd appreciate that as well. 😊 I've never been to Australia and I'm very excited. I checked all the suggestions on TripAdvisor, so I'm looking for some inside knowledge 🤭

P.S. I hope he won't see this post, but I don't think he's using reddit 😅

What are the chances of getting a government job in Toowoomba or surrounds?

I want to move out of Brisbane. I used to work for a SA call centre now i work in an aged care call centre for home packaging. I'm at an AO3 level, done payments and claims, etc. I basically just want to work in an office doing admin shit and answering calls. Another area would be compliance.

How much will a chauffeur vehicle cost for a day of Gold Coast sightseeing?

Want to hire for a family visiting the area. Don't need a limo. May be an Audi or BMW premium vehicle. Vendor recommendations?

Any new restaurants?

Any new places to eat in Toowoomba? We've done all the usuals many times over, hoping there's something new that's popped up in the last 6 months?

Brisbane tonight?

Hey guys

I'm wondering if anyone could like help me get to Brisbane tonight/tomorrow?

My ex boyfriend kicked me out because I refuse to do certain things which made me uncomfortable, after a rather intense incident the neighbours called the police and he was arrested but his parents won't let me come back to the house unless I drop the order and chargers which im def not going to do, Ive also shown the messages they sent me to police who said this is another possible charge thankfully.

The police collected my stuff and the homeless line have paid for accommodation for me in Brisbane for a couple of nights until I get paid and can go back to Sydney, is anyone able to take me to brisbane if you are going that way for work or reselling that way?

I don't have any money but I'll like promise to try and make you laugh :).

Motorbike rides

I have a Ducati ST3 and an Indian scout bobber. Both have dual rego and people love going for rides…. Do you think there is a business option where people hire me to take them riding? I have all the gear, I’ve been riding since 2007 and I am a registered teacher so I’m safe….. thoughts?

Door to door salespeople

There is a company in Toowoomba that's telling their contractors that it's OK to knock on doors with no soliciting signs. If anyone can let me know who that company is I can stop them.

Solar panel door knockers

Now this is a bit of a rant and i also know these people are just trying to make a buck but i had the unfortunate experience of copping these solar people twice in one day. I was at an elderly relatives house and one came to her door (she's a 5ft tall 70 y/o) and the bloke definitely crossed the line of what is acceptable. She made the mistake of walking out her front door to talk to this person and she basically got cornered by this tall young bloke who would not take no for an answer, I was listening from another room and I must of heard her say no to him at least 15 times and that she wasn't interested and for him to leave and he just bloody well wouldn't listen. After being asked to leave (many times) he then demanded her phone number so he could prove to his boss that he had been to this house and also that he'd booked her in for a follow up consultation (at which point I came to the front door and in no uncertain terms told him to leave immediately) and at the door i saw him in her personal space towering over her .This was plain and simple intimidation and pressure selling to a elderly person (an easy target) not to mention creepy. When I got back to my own house a different bloke from same company knocked on my door and I just said no thanks and shut the door so the guy just raises his voice and starts half yelling his sales pitch through the closed glass door at me? WTF is wrong with these people? They have clearly been told to be aggressive in their tactics.
