I was blessed enough to have won a Dark Deku figure through the IG giveaway in May. It arrived not long ago, but I wanted to give some time between receiving the figure and giving my personal thoughts. With that being said, this might very well be the best figure in the Total Anime line so far.
The articulation is what we've seen from the Total Anime Wave 1 Izuku Midoriya as a lot of the parts are reused from that figure. Yet it feels like the quality was improved, and the joints don't feel as fragile out of the box as some of the other figures do. As always, there may be some areas that need a dip in hot water, but the tightness isn't Shigaraki's leg bad.
In my opinion, the best part of this figure is the stern expression it comes with. They really hit the mark with that expression as it looks like just like Deku from the animeb to me. The lips do sit a bit low on the face, but my guess is that this was done to hide the mouth under the cape, which I feel is absolutely essential for this version of Deku so no complaints there.
like every figure in the line, it has its strongest face and its weakest face. Unfortunately, the masked head sculpted is its weakest face. The sculpt doens't look accurate to the source material from any angle (not to me anyway) and definitely takes some getting used to. That is, overall, this figure's biggest flaw. If you can look past it or are willing to display him with the maskless look, then this figure is incredible.
Standing him right next to wave 1 Deku, the difference is night and day, and the line has definitely improved in quality!
Owning all the Deku’s coming from the heavy hitters, I would definitely put this figure up there with Revoltech and SHF. Those obviously have this beat in articulation, but in terms of proportions and accuracy (minus the mask), I would definitely put it up there. Maybe right under SHF and above Revoltech since the Revoltech never quite looked anime accurate to me. It definitely has the Anime Heroes and Figma Deku beat.
I'd love to see Jazwares put this kind of attention and care into the rest of the line going forward! To know that this figure doesn't seem like a priority to Jazwares baffles me. To not fully release this figure would not only be a mistake but it would be criminal!
I’m actually very disappointed to begin with they didn’t even give him his fist which are way better than the other pair of hands he came with plus if you look online his character render literally has a fist sticking out and the mold of the cape looks way better than the final product, even though it does kind of look like it will give him limited articulation the cape does help out the head not looking big a other thing they could have done is actually add fabric to this figure and line they did it for their avatar line, but not for their total anime which would probably have helped a bunch of total anime figures, a bunch like shigaraki or Dabi even with the new Dark Deku and one more last thing I kind of like the belt and geimoiro having a more darker brown than the final product.
I know we've seen samples of both Jin-woo and Kaiju no. 8, but aside from that... There's been nothing! Please tell me Jazwares is planning a big announcement soon-
I ended up imported him for around $35 usd and it was 100% worth it, like, all of it! Ever since march 3rd of last year I've been thinking about this figure everyday and now like i have it, i can finally rest 😃😃 overall, very satisfied 😋😋

I’m glad that someone decided to actually make a custom cape for him but charging $20 for something that doesn’t really look that good plus it doesn’t even have like the black bull symbol which I know is kind of impossible to do on something that isn’t like those printer ones I really hope people like this guy makes more soft goods in the future for these figures
I've mildly shared it before in one of my figure reviews but i found the line whilst out shopping far from my town, wandered around curious if there was any figures from other lines i liked of differing brands and ended up finding 1 lone Wave 1 Deku sitting there for 20 bucks, i had 20 bucks to spare so decided to get it and just adored how amazing the articulation and etails were and I've been following this brand ever since.
Was this a similar experience for those reading or did you hear about online??? Just curious to know :v

Here's a closer look at the Total Anime Sung Jinwoo figure. The face plates have been repainted, and the body has a beeb given a matte finish. These images come from an overseas customizer who happened to have gotten their hands on one. The figure looks really good, especially with the added paint details!
