Starting a micropodcast on vagabonding and have some genuine questions

My fiance and I are backpacking around Europe (Thailand and NZ later this year). We both read and were inspired by Vagabonding by Rolf Potts. While our knees and our backs are still strong, we want to go experience the world without the constraints of time limits. At least not the time limits of corporate PTO policies.

As travellers, we are striving to avoid tour groups, tourist traps and the like. We are backpacking and tent camping wherever possible and couchsurfing too trying to avoid hotel and Airbnb.

Now we are trying this Micro podcast idea. We are documenting for ourselves but also for others and hoping to build a strong community. We are learning as we go and looking for any feedback, recommendations and commentary. Try to keep it civil, we are open minded and receptive to change.

Couple questions for those who are more experienced:

  1. What do you wish you knew when you got started?

  2. What ideas do you have for making money without a work visa in any of the places I mentioned? Or perhaps saving money? 😁

  3. What's your best vagabonding story/experience?

Vlogs without music?

It drives me absolutely crazy when travel vlogs cram in a bunch of pointless music and sound effects, drowning out the authentic audio. I want to hear the waves, the rain, the train, the birds, the Vespa, the buzz of the restaurant, and so on.

Do you have any recommendations for music-free vlogs? An intro with music is fine, but after that, it should be the original audio.

Visited Veliko Tarnovo and I was amazed

Visited at the beginning of June and managed to captures some shots over the town and also from the Ivanovo rock churches.

I think this was one of the best day trip experiences in Bulgaria and I would recommend it for others as well. Day trip started from Bucharest.

ESTEPONA, Spain: The Old Town Without Marbella's Price Tag

Spent the day in Estepona, a town just up the coast from Marbella that we almost skipped entirely while planning the trip. Turned out to be one of the more genuine stops we've found on the Costa del Sol: flower-covered streets in the old town, a Roman ruin we stumbled onto without expecting it, and a slower pace that felt more like a real town than a resort strip.

This one was actually a mother-daughter trip rather than our usual setup, so it's got a bit of a different feel to it. Sharing in case it's useful for anyone weighing Estepona against the bigger names on that stretch of coast, or just curious what's actually there beyond the beach.

First time in Vegas — is The Venetian known for feeling haunted or was I just tripping?

Hey y’all! I just went to Las Vegas for the first time and stayed at The Venetian on the 4th floor. The trip was fun, but my hotel room had a weird energy and I had a few moments that made me wonder if it was haunted or if I was just tired/overstimulated from traveling

I also visited Planet 13, Fat Tuesday, the Bellagio fountains, walked the Strip, and filmed a little first-time Vegas vlog.

For people who know Vegas better than me: does The Venetian have any haunted stories, or do some hotels just feel like that because they’re so huge?

Vlog is here if anyone wants to see the room/trip:
https://youtu.be/Jlv6rODWTKk?si=i3UepXWry8UipcW2

Question: What’s the creepiest or weirdest experience you’ve had at a Vegas hotel?
