Trimui Brick 🧱 - Portmaster- Dead Cells
Hello gamers, Im using Knulli Gladiator 2 on the Trimui Brick running Portmaster Dead Cells.

Hello gamers, Im using Knulli Gladiator 2 on the Trimui Brick running Portmaster Dead Cells.
👋 Hello Gamers! Welcome back to Beyond the Emulator with your host, Dylan.
Today’s topic is all about location, location, location. Specifically, we're talking about your saves folder—aka the "Treasure Chest"—and the "Gold" hidden inside. 🪙✨ This is the hard-earned progress you've been grinding toward for days, weeks, or even years.
When you're upgrading or switching to a new custom firmware, your saves are the single most critical thing to back up. BIOS files and ROMs are disposable; you can easily find them online or hunt down your old physical backups taking up space in your parents' guest room (ugh, please don't remind me).
But your saves? They're irreplaceable.
To make your life a whole lot easier, I’ve put together a quick snapshot of where to find those golden save files and Portmaster locations across the most popular Trimui custom firmwares. If you’re looking to try a new OS or upgrade to a new device without losing your hard work, back these up first. Get that gold before it's gone!
Good luck, and Happy Gaming!

⚠️ QUICK QUICK TIPS:
Hello Gamers,
I came up with using my laptop fan to cool down the Brick running hot with Knulli Glad2 patching for Dead Cells. Here it also is running on MuOS Funky Jacaranda on the TSP. Happy Gaming.
it was designed with miniui in mind, and nextui is a version of that, so i assume it would? i just cant find any confirmation and since it involves flashing the sd card i wanted to make sure.
if not, how do you all change up your bootlogos? cant find any good information on nextui specifically
Like the title says.
Why do I ask? Well because I’m tempted to buy a higher end device that can emulate GameCube and PS2. So I’ve been looking at a AYN Thor and Odin Portal 2, along with the Retroid Pocket devices.
I’m just worried that I won’t use them enough. The fact that I can just pick up the Brick and play whenever I can and it’s tiny(almost unnoticed by others) makes me feel that maybe I will keep coming back to the Brick.
Any thoughts of anyone in that situation? Or maybe those who are able to balance their Brick and a higher end device?
I prefer the weight of the plastic Brick but the controls and speakers on the Hammer. Anyone tried a shell swap to put a plastic Brick shell on a Hammer device?
Buckle up, its a longer post because I am frustrated.. also, very new to the emulator/rom/trimui community.
Okay backstory... I am not very tech savvy... I had not heard about Trimui or these handheld devices before April 2026.
My dad, feeling nostalgic as he bought me by first Gameboy Colour back in the day, bought my kid a Trimui Brick from Amazon Canada from seller FINGEREVO for their birthday(he had gotton a bunch of facebook ads about them)
The order was placed on March 30th for a deilvery date of April 4th (the birthday) My kid was super jazzed as was I. It’s such a cool device and they loved playing all the retro games. We were very much enjoying it.... for about two weeks.
More background info...
Like I said, not very tech savvy as I have never had to be in the past... so
our brick has never been plugged into a computer, nor did we add or delete anything on it.. Just used it straight out of the box as is, because I thought that's what you did lol
Around that two-week mark, the device stopped saving in-game. No biggie, we found we could save to the device manually. Great right? Except then, after a couple days, the device would freeze anytime we tried to save the game manually to the brick itself... or it would then brown-out and restart. It did this maybe a handful of times before one day, we turned on the brick and there was no more date on there! the screen simply said... none...
Popped out the sd card and plugged it into my computer.. computerwont recognize/read the card.. tried a pc and a mac.. I did a bit of googling and tried to reformat the card... guess what... the card is completely fried!
so this is where i tried to teach myself some computer programming lol I did some googling and ended up on reddit. found out that the stock cards are crap... so i bought a Samsung one from best buy and followed the guides from the Trimui website (and reddit) forloading up the new sd card with the necessary stuff to get going again.
Well.. this worked for only about 3 days until the brick started the same process of not saving, then brown outs, restarts and freezing anytime we tried to manually save... would also happen whenever the game tried to autosave...
I have now gone through 4 different micro sd cards all from different reputable brands (samsung, SanDisk, Kingston, EMTEC) and each time is has happened the same way... with the Samsung and Kingston, I even tried a different operating system install (MinUI) and it still happened. Each card ended up corrupted and dead... (see this is where I started to teach myself some programming and began learning all the cool lingo)
At this point I tried to reach out through Amazon directly because I believe it’s the SD card reader causing the issue.. to which they said they couldn’t help me as the return window was closed.. they recommended I reach out to the company itself.. which i did..
Trimui told me that becuase I purchased on Amazon they couldn’t guarantee the product...basically saying that anything bought on Amazon was not reputable and that I was out of luck because I purchased through Amazon….
So! Is there a way to somehow fix this $120 CAD paper weight I now have? I would love some pointers if there’s a way to fix the SD drive myself? My kid, my dad and I are completely bummed out.. and I only just found out about all the Pokémon rom hacks... don’t really want to sink another $100 + for another handheld emulator but if it’s not worth fixing, would love some other recommendations just in case
Thank you to all who made it this far, I appreciate you.
Hello, it's come to my attention that the end results of FBNeo Best Set Helper Kit and Done Set 3 Converter have been put into a thing that some people may be interested in.
No link, but if you find yourself in a quiet place where archives are kept, and whisper the words in the title of this post, you may stumble upon something.
Trimui Smart Pro. Knulli Scarab- A new release has come into being! Pt.2-The second look.
Hello gamers! Back with another episode of Beyond the Emulator. In this episode, I’ll be sharing my second look at the newly released Knulli Scarab on the TrimUI Smart Pro.
I’ll be getting things initially set up for further testing and discussing game settings, overlays, and save states. I’ll also cover my preferred emulator cores and—yes—how I got these cool RGB lights running. We will dive into the user interface, setting up a theme, and connecting the device to a PC via Samba. I’ll also show you how I installed Portmaster to get a few games running, along with some recommended system menu settings I’ve adjusted to my preference.
I have provided the Knulli link below. So sit back, grab your device, and follow along to see if there are adjustments you can make for better gameplay and performance. Let’s go Beyond the Emulator…

Knulli Scarab Scarab
I was having doubts even before ordering it, but as i ussing it almost daily even out of home i decide to give him a bit of extra protection in case that it sleep out of my hands.
I have to confirm that the case feels premium. My concern about the height of the plastic arround the buttons was no so critical and it was my main stopper. Maybe the 3 bottom buttons are more affected as they have lower height than the others, but still OK.
The only con that i woul put is that maybe the case could split int two pices afther the first hit against the flor... but i will not be they guy testing this XD.
