Amended Return (current year)

Filed E-Filed Amended Return on 4/16/2026 for the current year. I filed after my original return was completed and a refund was sent.

The amendment is an overall simple amendment. I forgot to include a business expense. The amendment would not result in us owing.

Tomorrow will be 5 weeks since filing. We still cannot track the amendment via the WMAR tracker and we do not have any codes indicating that the amendment was received on our transcripts.

I know the entire process from start to finish can take 16 weeks.

I am just frustrated that the 3 week timeframe for the initial movement has come and gone.

I guess my question is, how long until any of you saw movement of any kind.

Incorrect payment type

I was a new LLC owner and started paying quarterly taxes once I new I had to. However, I made payments as balance due instead of estimated payment for the year. Now the CPA has me pay underpayment penalty and interest for it and refuses to make any request to IRS but wait for the balance pay money to be refunded. It's become impossible to speak to someone at IRS to request anything. What options are available to deal with this situation ? We did have disaster relief granting tax filling extension to June 8th, and I think there is a way to request waiver of underpayment penalty etc but do not have much info on that. Would appreciate any useful information

Incessant Personal Loan Solicitations By Phone after Filing with TurboTax this Year (Spam Calls)

I filed with TurboTax this year. They made it pretty easy, I'll admit. If it wasn't on the last day at like 11pm, I would have thoroughly explored my other options after seeing that $200 bait and switch and submitting. Their tactics are sleazy and icky, but they won this time--it was too late for any other option.

But since filing, I've been getting probably 3 calls per day on average and the ones that leave voicemails always say something like "Hey we see you are looking for a personal loan". I'm not looking for a personal loan! I've submitted no financial applications of any sort. The only thing I can think of, which aligns with the timing of the calls is submitting my taxes. I logged into Intuit and made sure all my privacy settings were as restricted as possible, but I didn't see anything obvious.

Anyone else receive an onslaught of spam calls after filing taxes? Is there anything I can do about it besides stewing in frustration? Spam calls are a part of life now, but the volume and consistency is like I've never seen before.

TurboTax failed to remit my extension payment. Pay1040 won't let me select "Form 4868 Extension" anymore. Do I just pay as "Current Tax Return / Balance Due"?

Hey everyone, looking for some quick confirmation here.

I filed an automatic extension (Form 4868) for the 2025 tax year through TurboTax before the April deadline. I put in all my banking info at the time for my total bill of $460.

Well, it’s now mid-May and TurboTax just notified me that my payment was never actually remitted. Complete tech failure on their part, so my balance is still outstanding.

I don't have enough tax history from the prior year to use IRS Direct Pay, so I went to Pay1040.com to just pay the $460 with a credit card. However, because we are past the April due date, the site gives me an error blocking me from selecting the "Form 4868 / Extension" payment type.

To bypass this, I selected:
• Tax Form: 1040 Series
• Tax Form Option: Current Tax Return Year
• Tax Year: 2025

Two quick questions for the experts here:

  1. Is paying under "Current Tax Return Year" the correct way to route this so the IRS credits it to my 2025 account alongside my filed extension?
  2. Should I manually add any estimated late penalties/interest to the $460 right now, or should I just pay the flat $460 and wait for the IRS to bill me (or ask for a waiver due to the TurboTax glitch)?

Appreciate any insight!

Out over $40k because of TurboTax

**EDIT**: Mods actively deleting sympathetic responses to this post, and leaving toxic, non-constructive responses up. This is now an echo chamber of bots and TurboTax affiliates, and not an honest discourse. Great reflection of TurboTax and Intuit attitude towards customer service and its broader company culture.

Word of warning to all tax filers. Filed with TurboTax this year after being a customer for the past few years and the experience has dramatically gone downhill. Not only are there numerous deceptive upsells throughout the filing process (as mentioned in other posts), but they have replaced support with an AI chatbot that gives inaccurate information.

After going through the filing process, the dashboard did not show any scheduled payments which I thought was confusing since I had linked my bank accounts. When I asked the support chat if a scheduled payment had been made, it said that TurboTax does not do payments on the users' behalf. So I went ahead and paid manually via IRS and state websites.

Low and behold, four days later I see an overdraft notice. TurboTax had in fact scheduled an automatic payment, contrary to the support chat response. Now over $40k of my cash is in limbo for the next 4-8 weeks.

Human support from TurboTax has also been equally useless. No compensation or offer of a refund, only a closed ticket basically saying it's on me since I confirmed payment. Zero accountability of the fact that their support chat gave incorrect information leading to material loss suffered by a user.

edit: note to all detractors on this post, sorry to have offended you so deeply via my negative experience. You guys should all work for TurboTax support given your readiness to defend such a shabby service.

edit 2: judging by the rabid herd mentality here to defend a piece of imperfect software and attack someone’s poor user experience, it’s clear to me now that this subreddit must be mostly populated by people that work for TurboTax / Intuit and feel personally attacked. Which is hilarious and absurd.

Need to amend again. Question.

I had amended my return a few months ago and everything went smooth and I paid the amount owed.

I just realized I had some Roth contributions that I had forgotten about so I need to amend again.
When I open TT it starts by showing the amount owed in the previous amendment that I already paid.
When I submit this does the IRS automatically know its all paid and I am just updating the Roth records which does not have any tax implications?

1099MISC on a prize winning, and deducations, in turbotax and freetax usa

Hi guys, i'm struggling to figure this out. I've got a prize winning, from consistent raffling throughout the year. The prize was 15000 in value.

They issued a 1099-MISC. In Turbotax, they dont allow me to diretly edit the schedule A to put in gambling losses. The only way to do losses is to fill the W2G field, but, I also need to note "didnt recieve W2g" and enter both the income AND deductions.

I am worried if I dont file the 1099-MISC form, it will raise a flag.

I've spoken to Turbotax, and even paid for help with "CPAs" on Fiverr, no one has a answer. Heck, Turbotax said to tie the 1099-MISC to a business (gambling monthly to earn income), and write off a much as i can there.

Anyone know?

Intuit Academy not not finding badges

Hi everyone, I just completed my Tax Prep exam, I received the email from credly and accepted the badge. I clicked on Connect to Recruiter and filled out the form. When I hit submit I received the error "Valid Domain Badges Missing"

I noticed that in the badges section, neither tax level 1 or tax prep badge is showing and the completed section is only showing greyed out boxes.

I went back to Credly and verified the badges were accepted and was set to automatically transfer to Intuit. Has anyone experienced this before? Any ideas to troubleshoot? I have cleared cache and cookies, tried incognito and a new browser. I'm currently using Chrome. Help!!

Turbotax 2024 refund issued closed bank/old address.

Just got this email, check transcript and Im getting a refund for 2024, Turbotax is deducting these fees, but I moved and no longer have that account number/address I called and they said they said once it bounces from said bank account it will be mailed to my most recent address on file. How true is this, my address on Turbotax is correct but my address on that tax return is my old address.

Looking for Amendment Experiences

I am just looking to get list of overall experiences when filing an amended return. I know the standard timeline is up to 16 weeks.

I am just curious what you all have experienced. I have seen some say 4-6 weeks, 1-2 months while others have had horrible experiences.

For context, we filed ours by e-file, after we had already received our original refund.

How do you talk to a person instead of the automate line for refunds still waiting for my refund after nine weeks? Is there another number I could call?

No Update on Paper Tax Return Filed with ITIN Application

I filed my taxes as Married Filing Jointly by paper mail because that was the required process to apply for my wife’s ITIN. I mailed everything around March 23, 2026, and it should have been delivered by that weekend. After tomorrow, it will officially be 8 weeks since I filed, but I still haven’t received any update.
I’ve been checking my refund status on IRS.gov, but it only says “Refund Status Unavailable.” It doesn’t even show “Return Received.” I also tried calling the IRS, but the automated system keeps sending me in circles.
At this point, I just want to know whether my tax return has actually been received and processed. What should I do next?

Why can i not file my 2024 amended return??????

I purchased the online turbotax and filed my 2024 return online. Now when i go into tax home >Tax returns and docs > Select year 2024 > Start an amendment online, it takes me to the original return. The loop is constant. This is infuriating paying all this money for a system that lacks updates and almost never works properly.

The same goes for the desktop version, i was trying to amend 2023 and the systems tells me to get ready to file my amended return online and then I cannot put in the current date to efile. When you print out the file copy, it masks your bank account and some other information.

RETURN SENT BACK TO IRS EVEN THOUGH I ASKED THEN TO SEND IT TO ME

Long story short, my return got sent back to the IRS after I had some issues TurboTax took fees out of it I also filed in January and got accepted pretty quick but now the bar on the IRS website went from three bars back to one. I’m unable to call right now because like I’m so broke. It changed back to one bar last week Thursday.
