As there seems to have been a bit of a fuss on a recent post as to the appearance of MK1 armour and whether or not the legs were armoured, here is the section in white dwarf #129 that keeps being referenced.

It clearly states that the legs weren’t power armoured. Not that they weren’t armoured but not powered. It does also state that padded breaches were common but armoured greaves and boots were also worn by better equipped warriors. It also says that the armour was “manufactured locally” and “to personal taste” so each of the 20 legions most likely had a slightly different appearance anyway depending on where their armour was made.

The example canon image given also shows this armoured leg variant.
Basically they can look how you want them to look with or without armoured legs.

here is my proud first legio cataegis, im pretty happy with my paintjob, this one is from some STL i found and the whole base, cape and flag thing is kitbash+ several type of put. He won his first battle btw (played as kravek morne, i made up my own whole lore because of the trazyn book)
