Is this normal?

I joined the boilermakers local 13 in Philadelphia a year ago, and have only been called for a one month job this march, and nothing after that. I have plate certs with 5 contractors.

Everyone ive talked with, journeymen apprentices have told me that its slow from the beginning and ill get called more later in the years. Is this true?

I’ve quit my other job thinking id start working full time and now im in a terrible situation. Ive made good friends and have showed my face at the hall all the time and spent many many hours in the shop.

Something else i dont understand is my local has only 30ish apprentinces. How isnt there enough work for such a short list?

Need advice thank you

2026 Convention

How is everyone feeling about this year’s upcoming convention given the $20 million dollar racketeering case in 2023? How do we prevent the “personal piggy bank” mentality from happening again in the future with our pension?
