interested but I dont have a family member in the union so it makes it a lot harder to be able to get in.
I got a class a cdl unrestricted air brakes, combos and tankers
my local near me is 139 and you have to solicit your work so it makes it extremely hard if you don't know anybody or don't meet the "affirmative action" for companies to hire you because of that.
my other local is 150 but that isn't taking applications right now.
whenever I go onto the 139 contractors website the contractors are not even taking applications.
I just want a shot at a career where I can provide for my family and have good benefits please feel free to dm or comment with any advice.
I have a high school diploma and transcripts with a graduation date and I know some of the inside locals want algebra in high school or college algebra with a passing grade to apply.
I don't have any high school algebra on my transcripts from high school but I do have college transcripts with Mathematics 1/applied course 804-370 with a passing grade of a b plus.
would this be okay?? or do I have to pay $300 for that online course that's a couple weeks long Intech ibew neca alliance math course that gets people that math requirements to be able to apply if they don't meet the math requirements.
am I good with the college course I took????
is it just inside locals that make you have a math requirements or do outside line locals do the same or do you just need a high school diploma for outside line.
thanks any information helps
does anybody have an osha 10 et&d link??? i cant find any online it just seems like all i see is the regular osha 10.
should i even get my osha 10 et&d??
I am looking to apply to become a lineman. I am going to get some groundman hours and I might even go to a 2 week climbing school that is about $3000 before i apply. I'm going to try being a groundman first though.
another question below
I have a high school diploma and no algebra on it. long story short i took 7 test in highs school called the hi-test and i had enough credits to do it and i basically just tested out of high school and got a diploma without ever passing a math class. I can do math very good i just don't have it on my high school transcripts i took a math test and test in one of those 7 test and got my diploma early.
i went to a community college for a year and took mathematics 1/ applied course 804-370 which covers algebra and trig. i have my college transcripts with this coarse with a passing grade.
will the lineman jatcs let me apply with my situation for my math???
is algebra with a c or better even a requirement to apply or is that only for inside wireman locals??
should i just call the line jatcs and see what they say???
i saw online there is a NJATC online tech course you can complete if you cant meet math requirements but its $300 and takes a couple weeks to complete and apparently lets you apply if you dont meet the math requirements but im not if its just for inside wireman locals. and im not sure if i even would have to do it im not sure if there is a math requirement in general for line jatcs and if there is would my college coarse meet it? or would i have to do this $300 course electrical training ALLIANCE || Learning Center || Online Tech Math
man this has been a long ride to even be able to apply and become a groundman i have already spent over 10 grand getting my class a unrestricted with tankers, air brakes and combos and have been out of work for over a month which ive probably lost over another $8000 from just being out of work.
any information will help my greatly.
I looked online and they are like 20-30 grand
do i need to go to get an apprenticeship?
first call dont know anything about the line side of things to be honest i got a cdl though.
im barley 21 years old. have trades experience.
I want know what type of work i will be doing if i get in as an apprentice.
and how dangerous is the job?
i met an iron worker the other day and he was missing a finger and he told me not to join and to keep doing electrical. he said " yall have more work and its less dangerous"
i also have a CDL so i could apply to be an operator or Lineman but iron working looks pretty bad ass.
can i travel once i top out? i don't know if i would want to keep living in-between these two cities forever.
my friend is in LOCAL 8 and he likes it. his truck payment is also more then i was paying in rent
