Just accidentally discovered that you can use collapisibles in the note header

Nearly 6 years of near-constant UpNote use, and thought I knew all the great formatting options UpNote offers. But today I accidentally stumbled onto the fact that a note header can be a collapsible.

I mean, in retrospect, of course it can. Note headers can be formatting any other way you can think of, but this had flat-out not occurred to me.

Not sure what I'd use this for — yet — but this is part of why I love this app.

Update on the recent sign-in issue and our infrastructure progress

Hi everyone,

A few weeks ago, many users were unable to sign in to UpNote. The issue was caused by a large number of requests from automated bots, which consumed the quota assigned to our Firebase project and prevented our users from signing in. After the quota reset for the day, users were able to sign in again, but the issue would happen again whenever the quota was exhausted.

Since then, we have strengthened our service to better identify bots and real users using Cloudflare verification. The result so far has been encouraging. After version 9.19.0 was released, we saw the Firebase quota usage drop significantly, and the unable-to-sign-in issue has not happened again.

Building on that, we recently released version 9.21.0 with further changes to protect our service from automated bots. We want to give everyone enough time to update, so please update UpNote to the latest version within the next 7 days. After that, older versions of the app will no longer be able to sync data with the server.

We also want to share a little about what we’re working on. We have been building our own server infrastructure so that we can gradually migrate core components away from Firebase. Bug fixing is still important and we will continue to address serious issues in a timely manner, but most of our development effort right now is focused on making the new infrastructure as stable and reliable as possible.

The good news is that the new infrastructure is progressing well and we hope to start testing it soon. It will take some time to make sure the new service works reliably before we can move forward with the migration.

As we continue this transition, some future changes may not be compatible with older versions of UpNote. Please keep UpNote updated to the latest version to make sure the app can continue to sync and work properly. We will try to give users enough time to update whenever such changes are required.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Bug swipe on android

I am experiencing an issue with the swipe left and right feature on the Android app. Because my phone uses the "swipe to go back" system gesture, the app's swipe functionality is not working properly.

Am I the only one with this?

Potential winner in my "Evernote-Escape" search. Just validating

Hi there UpNote experts!

As many around me, I have a ticking time bomb which is the horrendous Evernote price increase. I need to find an alternative to my 2900 Notes that now live in Evernote within the next 15 days.

My current note organizing system came from a GTD setup.
I have 2 notesbooks (Inbox & Processed) and a pretty extensive tagging system, including subtages (ie: Projects --> Project 2025 --> Closed Projects).

Other then Note archiving, searching for a note, and taking notes, I dont use much else.
My notes contain text, images, pdfs, word docs, etc. So not just plain text.

One power move that Evernote has on me is the Scannable app. I scan documents and place them in Evernote easily. I dont think UpNote does that?

For the rest of my use-cases: Search through notes, create notes, tagging (incl sub-tags), it seems UpNote might be right for me.

Just wanted to validate that assumption, and ask if you have found an alternative way for scanning paperwork to digital storage.

Alternatives are Obsidian (but I dont like local storage), Joplin (but has some downsides to how its used), and Apple Notes (but that doesnt show tagging), so UpNote might be the best option...

Thanks in advance!

Not working on Boox Go 6 (Gen. II) -- Any ideas?

Basically the title. I bought a Boox Go 6 (Gen. II). It's running an older Android (11). I download UpNote, but when I go to sign in, I get the message: "Check Device and App: To continue, UpNote needs you to fix a device or app issue." I choose, "Continue." I get the response, "Lock bootloader to fix issue: To fix the device certification issue, your device bootloader needs to be locked." Then I get bounced to some Android support page that doesn't make sense. Any ideas? UpNote, can you fix this? UpNote seems to work fine on other Boox devices.

Copy text snippets with automatic insertion of source?

Hi everyone,

You don't have to like Microsoft OneNote, but I’d still be interested to know if it’s possible to set up similar functionality in UpNote. I’m really only concerned with one thing: when researching topics online, I want to copy text snippets from the browser and paste them chronologically into an UpNote page—*including* the automatic insertion of the HTML source (e.g., in OneNote, it adds something like "From <https(:)//www.reddit.com/r/(...)"). Does UpNote offer this feature—ideally with a timestamp or date included after the link?

Greetings

Nested Tags?

Hi there, curious if nested tags is in the works by chance? I've read previous statements here and there, but it was older threads. Thought I'd ask...thx.

Markdown really needs to support Mermaid.js so we can create diagrams. Please add this.

It's a great feature and would make things a lot easier.

Some guidance

I recently switched from evernote and I’m a little confused between “quick access” and “pinned notes”. What’s the diff and how do y’all pick which to use for what?
