I have some extra tickets for this weekend game. This is a women's soccer team. Right?
I've only just started watching NWSL matches this year and I'm a neutral fan in Atlanta awaiting my own NWSL team to kick off, but after this past weekend I've officially adopted Tanaka from the Utah Royals as my spirit animal and thus have created this video declaring my newly discovered love for her.
David James and Amy Donaldson go deep with URFC boss Jimmy Coenraets on latest book club series, with Jimmy talking about what the “Surrounded by Idiots” book taught him about leadership
Yes! We are doing SO well!! Utah had a beautiful game, and I really like our style of play. Our passing was quick, creative, and clean, and honestly I feel very fortunate 🍀 that the "Utah" style is one of the most enjoyable styles of football to watch.

It’s the first edition of the continental divide cup this Saturday! It’s time to show up and show the summit what we’re all about. The link will take you to $5 tickets and they’ve extended our tailgate time! The 90th south lot will open at 2 pm and we’ll have a food truck! Come party with The Throne!
I'm getting stoked to show up Sunday at the Riot. Last home game against Houston there was a chant we heard coming from the supporters section that no one around me could make out to join in on. The cadence was along the lines of:
We. Want.
We. Want.
We. Want.
Bananas!
Any one know the actual words to this, or any other new chants I can be ready to join in on? Should I just chant in favor of bananas?
What a great piece from The Athletic / NY Times about the red-hot Royals
Feel free to post them here or send them to our email to be featured as our fan of the week!
Thank you!
Prašnikar and Hammond are still out, though looks like Palacios may be ready. We'll see if any rotation as this is their 3rd game in like 8 days (moriya was good, though wouldn't be surprised to see rabano come in). Palacios can hopefully start and provide at least some rotation for the royals on offense. Really exciting possibilities, though also just enjoying their play overall.
Keepin it rolling!
But with Portland losing to Louisville yesterday, the Royals stand to take first place in the league if they win against Bay tomorrow. Given the run of games we have after that... could we be in the first/close second spot before the June break?
Pinch me... COYR!
Cloé Lacasse gets some love from national media:
“9. Cloé Lacasse, winger, Utah Royals
Utah's amazing start to the season can't be attributed to just one player, but Lacasse has been the standout for the Royals thus far. She has terrorized defenses on the left flank in transition.
Lacasse has three goals and two assists so far, including goals in three straight games for the second-place (!) Royals.”
After the Lacasse goal on Wednesday our brilliant DJ played ABBA's Voulez-Vous in her honor. For those not in the know, her fans at Arsenal wrote a chant to that song to mark her contributions. You can see it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/UtahRoyalsFC/comments/1es80op/24_lacasse_arsenal_chant_for_cloe_lacasse_with/
Anyway, it got me thinking that we don't necessarily need to write a chant, but recommend songs to be played for each player after the score, earn player of the match, reach a number of milestone games/minutes played etc. If we do that, the lyrics could come naturally.
My question is: What song would you want to hear for each player? This could be just for fun and discussion, or we could take it to the club to pass along to the DJ. Excited to hear what you come up with.
Just to get started (as you'll see I am not good at this):
Palacios (Super Ki): The Superman Theme
Delzer: Cecelia from Simon and Garfunkel.
