Real Salt Lake (2-0-1, 7 points, 2ndMLS Leagues Cup) has officially clinched advancement to the 2026 Leagues Cup Quarterfinal stage, by virtue of the Utah side’s performance in Phase One of the tournament and a combination of results Wednesday night. RSL’s accrual of seven points from three Phase One matches and its MLS-best goal differential of +7 – outscoring opponents 8-1, with goals from six different scorers and 19 different starters – ensured the top four finish on the Major League Soccer side of the bracket.
With FC Dallas losing at Toluca and LAFC earning a 1-1 regulation draw against Queretaro on Wednesday, RSL is guaranteed a top four finish amongst the 18 MLS teams in the fourth-year tourney. Following the final matchday of Phase One on Thursday, the Quarterfinal dates, times and matchups will be determined, with RSL competing midweek on either August 25/26 (site TBD).
Competing on the Wasatch Front, the Juarez decimation Tuesday boosts RSL’s all-time record against Mexican visitors to 8W-6L-6T on the Wasatch Front, where RSL has now outscored the Liga MX sides 29-25 over the years on their collective visits.
